*Official 2015 Philadelphia Eagles* - Winning when it doesnt count (1 Viewer)

I know we're Eagle fans but how can the NFL seriously let this guy back in the league after the whole Ray Rice thing? Those embarassing PSAs with crying Hillary swank were for what? Lip Service? They are going to be skewered on National TV Sunday Night.
and they should. What is making it despicable is the need for Jerry Jones to come out in the media to defend him. Just disgusting human beings and i would love the Eagles to raise the ghost of "the other #20" Andre Waters and have him play H-back or fullback on whatever side Hardy lines up on.

ETA: a guy in the comments section of the article about Jerry coming out to support him again nails the whole insanity of it:

The scrutiny is greater over whether or not a player can wear pink for the entire season versus domestic violence. Cant wear pink after Halloween or risk that fine! Beat up your girlfriend? Apologize and dont sweat it too much. #### happens.

still can't believe how many uniform violation stories we read about with this happening. Absolute best was a week or 2 ago when the NFL fined the one Pittsburgh d-back (feel bad forgetting who, maybe William Gay?) because he wore different color shoes to support anti domestic violence because his mom was killed that way. i think they fined him 10K
Think it was Deangelo Williams that wanted to continue wearing pink after October to honor his mom and four aunts that all died of cancer. League said no.
ahh here it is. i knew i still had a few brain cells working:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/10/28/william-gay-wore-purple-shoes-for-domestic-violence-awareness-got-fined/

....Cornerback William Gay has also been fined $5,787 for wearing purple shoes in an attempt to draw attention to domestic violence issues during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Gay’s mother was shot and killed by his stepfather when Gay was seven years old, which makes his personal relationship to the issue a particularly close one...

As an aside, didinger and macnow show is now available as a podcast. Seems to be up almost as soon as the show is over. Separate podcast for each hour and based on the times, there are no commercials (or minimal at most).

I'm not so sure. I mean, where and when dopes the league draw the line? Even more important, without a rule followed by a fine followed by a story, would anyone have even noticed or cared about a different colored shoe? Players have to know they are going to get fined, and that the fine is drawing the attention they are looking for. These fines are generally low considering what most of these guys make, so I think maybe WE are the ones making too much of them.

I tend to think that the league fines are puposefully low, allowing players to do this sort of thing if it's important enough to them without allowing guys to where whatever whenever just because they feel like it, and then claim it was for some special reason. A 6000 dollar fine is not meant to be all that punitive to a guy like that.

Am I the only one that does not give a #### about this? I mean really. I get your argument but let them work it out. I don't care how much they fine or what they fine for. That's their buisness

I 100% understand why the league has to fine for all uniform infractions. They'd be having to make 50 seperate decisions every week if they allow a guy to wear different cleats because his mom has cancer or different colored undersleeves because their wife's nephew has MS. Most people have a family member somewhere along the line who's fought some ailment. Games would look like a Skittles commercial if the league started allowing individual expressions whenever they want.

It's natural to hear anything regarding the word 'cancer' and think the league is heartless by not making acceptions. But it's about the long term and looking organized and professional.

I think the issue is the league has these well established and defined rules for players who wear something slightly different, but when it comes to beating a woman or other disgusting acts they're like, "Banned for life, no wait 4 games, no no, 10 games, oh wait there's public outcry? Ok, ok 1 season. Ah screw it, let's just say 2 games and call it a day."

Some chatter among beat writers that Ryan Mathews reinjured/retweaked his groin Wednesday, leading to his missing practice Thursday. While he was listed as full practice on Friday, it was just a walkthrough. Might be out tonight and the full load rests on Murray/Sproles against a good front 7, behind a line missing J Peters.

Reconsidering the 'over' of 45.5 (assumed Peters, Mathews on Wednesday) and now feeling like a 23-17 PHI win, thanks to a defensive TD (or turnover in the red zone setting the O up for a cheapie).

Murray is gonna have a big game. I can feel it
Some interesting reporting this week talking up the fact Murray was injured week 1&2 (of course he missed week 3 due to injury). So, optimism on your point. Hope they do implement some Sproles in space and that Mathews can go. IMO this offense is a run-first offense when it's successful (always has been) and should utilize all 3 RBs and go 'big' with both TE's Celek and Ertz blocking more to help the line. Plus, both the TE's and all 3 backs can (and should be) effective receiving options creating mismatches on LB's.

"Pat Shurmur pointed to health when asked about DeMarco Murray‘s production.

The question was specifically about Murray’s limited effectiveness on outside zone runs. While offering an explanation, the offensive coordinator seemed to reveal a little more than he realized.

“When you talk about DeMarco specifically, he's much healthier now than he was early in the season, so we anticipate that he’ll make better runs than he did early," said Shurmur.

So Murray's health was holding him back?

“I wouldn’t say that. He’s healthier now though. He was healthy enough to play when he played...He's healthier now. He's feeling better.”

-----

Murray was asked if he was injured the last time he faced Dallas. “I played the game,” he responded. Was anything bothering you? “I was out there playing the game.”

That little bit of non-denial denial did nothing to squash Pat Shurmur‘s assertion that Murray was not at full health in the early stages of the season. The defending rushing champ managed just two yards on 13 attempts against his former team in Week 2, and ended up sitting the next game out with a hamstring strain.

Since then, Murray has rushed 67 times for 296 yards (4.4 average) compared to 21 carries for 11 yards (0.52 avg.) over the first two games.

I'm out here in Dallas waiting for the game. Stayed at the same hotel as the Boyz. Saw dez, witten and cassel. Cassel already looks scared

This is the best the panthers have looked all year. First complete game they've had. Even still their kicker has missed a few and theyeft points on the board. Something wrong with GB which is more good news for the wide open ness of the NFC.

If Mathews doesn't go, Murray better have the revenge game of his life tonight. Knows the field, hopefully that helps.

Now you're saying an 8-0 team isn't very good. I don't know what type of team will ever deserve credit from you hahaha jeez! Panthers are a very good team.

Agholor inactive. Very surprising.

Mathews active.

ETA - Ryans inactive as well.
Wonder what kind of role Sproles will have tonight. Was excited to see a lot of him if Mathews was out, but with Mathews playing, and Nelson out, he may be used almost only as a receiver.

I'm saying they have their flaws just like everyone. They're the best team in the NFC. A pretty good team. But you and others said it was just the dropped passes and we'd have beaten them.

I dont think a team has to be absolutely flaw-free to give them credit and praise. The best team in the NFC can be called a 'very good team'. It's okay to call them that. And yes, the fact that we went on the road, banged up, and were a few dropped passes away from beating the best team in the NFC, makes me not thing the sky is totally falling on the eagles right now.

Clearly that could change tonight though.

A touchdown pass went right through Huff's hands. We could have had that game. We're in every game.

Clutch OT win. Get the ball, win the game. Offense looks leaps and bounds better in some areas. Run game was on point in key moments. Matthews looked damn good for the first time in weeks. Line played very well without Peters.

Hope Hicks is not hurt to badly.

Great win. Very solid game from Bradford, and Jordan Mathews was excellent. Only 1 or 2 drops and those by RBs

Feel fairly good about this team going into the second half of the season

Obviously a huge game for both Bradford and Matthews. The best the team has looked thus far. Strugis with the big 53 yarder, no INTs by the QB. Nice ground game.

Props all around.

Ya what a team effort. That was an extremely frustrating end to the 4th though. Some brutal calls/no calls and I honestly thought we were going to lose that game at the end there.

Knew Matthews made his mental adjustments. This is only going to do more for that side of things for him.

Run game was hit or miss. Love what they did from under center. But that being said, even from shotgun, Murray busted off some huge runs. Love that he showed up on his old field and played a solid game like that when we needed it the most. 18 for 83 and 11 for 67 is exactly the type of numbers/split we should see weekly from our two RBs.

Sturgis... so clutch. And Sam played great. 25 for 36, and a couple of those were drops. Hopefully no one still wants Sanchez.

I still can't breathe.
Seriously how am I supposed to fall asleep anytime soon.

We aren't great but getting better and are in the hunt. If some of the young guys can progress who knows.

Also love hearing Deion the ex Cowboy talking about how horrid those PI calls were.

This.

For all their faults, after an 0-2 start this team is 4-2 and IMO starting to head the right way.

Travel is light going forward. 5 home, 3 road... and the longest road trip is DET. Have a 27-day stretch they don't leave home.

Next two games at home, Miami and Tampa Bay. Let's go.
