*Official 2015 Philadelphia Eagles* - Winning when it doesnt count (2 Viewers)

Can anyone explain to me why Zach Ertz isn't leading this team in targets?

The rest of the team has stone hands, while this guy reels in everything that comes his way. No one else on the team makes that catch he made last night reaching over the defender for the ball.

I understand last year he wasn't a good enough blocker. Well, besides Matthews hopefully getting it together the WRs are downright awful.

So why on earth is this guy not a bigger part of the offense?
I don't think he's not a big part of the offense. Matthews was the only receiver with more targets then him last night, and he had a great game and caught 9 of the 12 passes thrown his way. I wasn't paying TOO much attention to if he was being used as a blocker or not but that may be one of the reasons he didn't get more looks. I'd be happy with 6-8 targets per game for him, but yes I'd like to see a few more balls his way. I think they'll work him back into it a bit more.

Hicks expected to miss 2-4 weeks.

Rapoport: Based on preliminary results, good news for #Eagles standout LB Jordan Hicks, who injured his pec. Belief is just a 2-4 week injury. MRI now
Thank goodness. Still sucks he may be out for that period, but at least we have him back for the tougher games. We have an interesting schedule coming up.

Next 3 opponents: All losing records, 7-17 combined record. 2 of 3 at home.

Following 3 opponents: All winning records, 18-6 combined records. 2 of 3 on the road.

We need to go on a roll vs these weaker opponents to survive that 3 game stretch with New England, Buffalo, and Arizona.

Big loss. Future is bright, he was playing at an unreal level. Surprising, said he felt fine and they expected 2-4...but done for the season. Eff.

I have never heard of a pec injury like that which wasn't a tear. It was a classic case. His arm outstretched and taken back too far. I was very happy when I heard only a couple of weeks. But couldn't quite understand it. This makes more sense. Tough one. He was playing at a Pro Bowl level.

On Bradford/Foles comparisons.

Obviously a complex problem with Rams (young OL, conservative offense, no WR or TE that defense needs to account for, maybe Austin to an extent, but more as a runner), but despite being 2-1 in last three games after beating CLE and SF, they now have four third down conversions during that span. COMBINED. Local journalist Bernie Miklasz noted that their third down conversion rate of sub-24% was the worst he could find since his source STATS began tracking the data in the early '70s. Not just the Rams, but period. Incidentally, this is with the clear advantage of the past five games, with Gurley, who by some measures, has been as productive as any back since the merger, including Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson (consensus best rookie season ever for a RB, as Moss was for WR, Marino at QB and I think Ditka at TE?).

Again, I don't think he is the sole problem, but he appears to be contributing. An increasing number of Rams fans, based on my limited sample, seems to be having doubts about his long term viability. Of course, if the OL gels, they add some WR talent and are predictably more productive on offense, those doubts should begin to dissipate/evaporate.

* May have been mentioned elsewhere, but the Rams are off the hook or close for the 2016 fourth round pick, Bradford has played every offensive snap at the midway point of the season.

That sucks about hicks.

Miles Austin should never get a target

He can't get open and if something does go his way he drops it

Unless they involve the Packers, reports that come from Rappoport and no one else are almost always false.

Some Weds practice tidbits:

Peters dealing with 'pinched nerve,' returned to practice Wed.

Jenkins dealing with concussion sustained in Dallas game, in protocol

Ryans working off to side still, officially 'limited.'

Brandon Boykin has played on 3.5% of defensive snaps this year. Oh well.
And it's not as if the Steelers have been healthy in their secondary. They weren't a great unit to begin with and they've had injuries and he still can't see the field.
Has anyone Chip let go made him look foolish for letting them go? Besides Maclin, which was about $$, and they tried to rbing him back.

None....but it gives the media something to stir the pot about even though 90% have been the right moves.

Don't think any either. But lots in here may argue about a certain QB which would have apparently made our team a lot better.

For all these guys Chip has let walk, they've been risks. Needed risks. We should be happy if 90% of his calls have been good one and stop focusing on the 10% that haven't been. As hard as it is to do, people are dead quiet when Chip's ex players suck, but come out of hiding to complain when one starts looking good.

Mccoy looked pretty good tonight, but I am still so so happy he is gone.

60, I think.
Ah. I like those kind of conditional deals. Win-Win for both teams. If Boykin lights it up and plays a lot, Pitt is happy to lose the pick, and we're happy to get it. If Boykin sucks and doesn't play, Pitt is happy to give nothing up, and we are happy to realize we lost nothing by letting him go.

And McCoy just threw a jab at Chip in his post game interview about how some coaches believing in rest (or to that extent).. Still bitter.

Not hearing a whole lot about Foles these days. He's been terrible. Last week was another typical Foles week. They lost a close one to the Vikings and really could have used some downfield plays. But they never came. In fact, his number one cheerleader has disappeared.

You didn't watch that game then so we'll leave it at that.

dude, he was 18 for 33. Only threw for 168 yards on 33 attempts. No touchdowns. Again. He's good at handing the ball to Gurley. That's it. If Bradford had those stats, you'd be kicking and screaming and calling for Sanchez. Foles has been a huge disappointment for the Rams. When Gurley dominates, they win. When they need Foles to rise up, he fails.

Foles is a game manager now. Neither he or Bradford is that great but i doubt the Rams are regretting the trade.

yes. That's exactly what Foles is. And that's fine until they need to put points on the board against a good offense. See the Green Bay game. As for the trade, I'd much rather have Bradford, but I think both teams will have their eyes open for a quarterback in the offseason.

well he doesn't have much to work with. if their wr/te corps isn't the worst in the league, it's gotta be bottom 3.

I don't really want to get involved in the Foles/Bradford holy war, but do you really think that the combo of Tavon Austin, Brian Quick and Kenny Britt is that much worse that Jordan Matthews, Agholor, Cooper? I mean St. Louis certainly has a bad WR squad, no doubt about it. In fact their team has a combined 14 drops this season! Second only to Philly, with 20.

I was just getting ready to post this same thing. No one has had a worse group of receivers than Bradford. Three of his interceptions are totally to blame on his receivers. And imagine his completion percentage if those 20 drops were caught. I do like the confidence I saw in Jordan Matthews Sunday night. I hope his mental issues are behind him. I think he's a solid receiver, otherwise.

Philly has Ertz as well who's a decent TE. I'd rather have the philly corp but I agree it's not great. But i wasn't necessarily comparing it to philly, just pointing out how bad the st. louis receiving corps is.

The STL core is bad but Foles now has 7 straight games of under 200 yards passing. I believe he's on pace for some of the worst yardage numbers this decade for a QB who's started every game.

You guys can keep on arguing about foles vs bradford but the main thing was neither one wanted to stay where they were. It's a good trade for both

Just because you point out something about one doesn't mean you're uplifting the other. This is what has been happening over and over and over. There's like an imaginary disclaimer with both of their names. Right now, in STL, Foles is doing awful. You should be able to say that without worrying about what Bradford is doing. This isn't being done with ANY of the other guys we dealt either....just these two.
