*Official 2015 Philadelphia Eagles* - Winning when it doesnt count (1 Viewer)

McCoy: ‘I Got Nothing To Say’

LeSean McCoy didn’t wait to shake hands. Not today.

Before the clock ticked zero, McCoy slipped into the southeastern tunnel at Lincoln Financial Field with nary a nod to his former teammates, turning the corner into the hallway in the belly of the stadium with a steely rage. Eagles fans rained boos on the team’s all-time leading rusher, just as they had when he was introduced as the Bills’ lone captain before the game.
i think that is very telling. granted a lot of the guys he played with are no longer here, but to not even touch base with anyone one the team really says a lot

Just quickly glancing at the next few weeks:

If th Giants win their next two (admittedly a challenge since they play Carolina) and Washington wins next Sunday, does that makes the Eagles-Cardinals SNF game completely meaningless from the Eagles perspective?

Seems that as long as the Eagles win 16 and 17 they get the division. And they can't clinch earlier than 17 if NYG/WAS get to 7 wins by next week.

Am I missing something here?

Nope. Next weeks game IS pretty meaningless. If we somehow beat the Cardinals, we are still are at best 1 game up on Wash. If they beat us in week 16, we need a lucky week 17 (beating NYG and Wash losing to Dallas) to win.

I really don't think the Giants have a shot. Their schedule is very very tough. Panthers on a short week next week is a Loss. I guess the relevancy of next week, is that if we win, and we beat Wash, we'll be 8-7 and wash and nyg could be 2 games behind us. Would love it if the week 17 game was meaningless and we could rest everyone.

Let's say it works out like this (and it very well may)

WAS over BUF
PHI over ARI

CAR over NYG

PHI over WAS

MIN over NYG

Puts the records going into week 17 at:
PHI 8-7
WAS 7-8
NYG 6-9 (or 5-10 depending on tomorrow nights game)

Does that make our NYG game irrelevant? Trying to look at who has the tie breaker between us and Wash. We would be tied head to head. We'd be tied for div record if we lost the week 17 game and they beat dallas.

It then would go to common games.

K just looked at common games. We are damn close with Wash but I think we win.

Dolphins L L
Bills W ?
Jets W L
Pats W L
Bucs L W
Saints W W
Panthers L L
Falcons L L

Even if they beat the Bills, in common games we are 4-4, and Wash is 3-5.

If we beat Ari and Wash, Week 17 is irrelevant. If we lose to Ari, and Buf beats Wash, then week 16 vs Wash is for the division.

According to this, your scenario has Washington winning the division. But I think you're right and Eagles would win on common games. I always thought that Yahoo tool was spot on...hmmmm.

Yahoo tool is doing weird things. I tried it tonight and found a case where KC won their division at 11-5 ahead of a 12-4 Denver squad.

Their devs must be too busy with DFS too...

Weird. Ya I think it will work out like that. Good to know we have that tiebreaker with them... would love to rest our guys week 17 and take the extra week to prepare for Seattle.

I knew a couple of wins would change the whole landscape. Now people are coming up with ways to rest players.

This team hasn't earned any rest. They play to win from here on out. Keep the eye of the tiger flowing.

We don't need rest. We need to get as much playing time with these guys as possible

If we clinched the div after the washington game, no way should we put our guys out there vs the giants. Would love a bye week leading into the playoffs.

Philly homer here and all I have to say is please don't get your hope up. The sun shines on a dogs ### once a day.
If they finish any better than 6-10 I'll be shocked.
Will you be shocked if we win 1 of the next 3 now?
I wouldn't say shocked now, because I thought yesterday would be a loss. Mildly surprised? But it feels like you posted that reply with such confidence/cockiness, when I'm not so sure it's too deserved. Go birds though. :hifive:

Let's put two things to rest now lads: no way will Chip take the foot off the gas this Sunday. They absolutely need to show well against a team they could possibly see down the road. Buffalo is mediocre at best and the breaks against NE were of the order of me hitting the powerball. Don't get me wrong, I'm still ecstatic about that win. Arizona on the other hand is coming here and pretty healthy too. I don't need the birds to necessarily win, just keep up the momentum. Plus, you know Chip and Hipster Arians have some beef.

Two: let's all finally put to rest the QB issue. Bradford has proved to be the right move. We can still ##### and moan about the others but there is no doubt, he is playing well and far superior to Sanchez and Foles. I agree with others, we'd have beat Miami and who knows what would have happened the next two weeks.

It's a crazy season but at least we are on an upswing!

On two, he's definitely better (Foles regression assures that). Just wish we didn't have to give up a 2nd also.

I think it's worth the second if we find a qb at least for the short term. It seems to be working out

Philadelphia fans: Arizona game is not meaningless. By saying it is meaningless you are just assuming a victory the following week vs. Washington. While Eagles may have the edge at home (and even as a Redskins fan I would say the Eagles *should* be favored at home), the teams have performed closely enough this season that a victory is far from assured.

That said, there a scenario where the Eagles lose to Washington but win their other two games and finish 8-8. Then, even if Washington beats the Eagles, but then loses their other two, they finish 7-9 and Eagles end with a better record, despite losing head to head vs. Washington 0-2. However, if Eagles were to drop the Arizona game, they finish 7-9 with Washington but lose the head to head tie breaker (remember, head to head is first tie breaker). All this assumes NYG doesn't finish with better record.

So I don't understand how Arizona game is meaningless for Eagles. My math may be screwed up; if so, please correct me!

Eff the math they need to play to win them all. This team is finally starting to get healthy and play well, and IMO needs to keep building cohesion and momentum heading down the stretch.

Getting solid QB play out of Bradford the last 6 games or so he's been a part of has been nice, we are starting to see why Chip made the deal. He's clearly improving each week and getting more comfortable. Showing some mobility on QB keepers for 7-8 yards, staying tall in the pocket under pressure, and not making many mistakes. Some drops yesterday and the INT was a nice throw to Celek (looks to me like the DB just made a great play to steal the ball from the TE) but his numbers still looked good and he's definitely passing the eye test lately.

Special teams and D back to being opportunistic. Gives up big plays but gets turnovers. Horrible 3rd down defense most of the time here could be the Achilles heel.

Arizona going to be a tough, tough test especially coming of 10 days rest. Just keep playing well, win or lose, and roll into the division games healthy and motivated to take this division.

I was the first one to bring this up and it was absolutely not meant as a reason to rest players or anything like that. I think Chip wants to take down Arians regardless. The Eagles play next Sunday night so by then everyone will know what the Giants and Redskins did earlier that day. It appears that the game is meaningless to be Eagles IF the Giants win tonight and IF the Giants and Redskins both win next week (which is how I prefaced the original question).

Just bringing up the possibility that there is a chance (somewhat smallish since it requires the Giants beating Carolina) that next week's game might mean nothing in terms of their chances to win the division.

So Eagles clinched a bye huh?
no, I said if we win the next two games then week 17 is practically a bye week as it is meaningless to standings. Not sure where you got that from.
Just admit you're wrong about clinching a bye like you were about Murray, Bradford, Chip, Maxwell, Rowe, the Eagles period ect. ect..
Hey troll, why aren't you talking about Bradford and the Eagles? I thought you were an Eagles fan? I heard rave reviews about how well Foles did holding the clipboard yesterday fro Keenum. Even gave him a water battle at one poin.

Bradford is 5-1 in the last six games he's started and finished. His only loss coming on the road against the undefeated Panthers. Would love to hear your assessment of the trade now. ROFL

Yeah, I was just curious to see if he was actually happy that Bradford id playing well and the Eagles are tied for first in the division. His only post was telling Deamon that he was wrong about a couple of players. Always fun to expose a true troll.

Pedal to the metal from here on out. Back to back wins against NE in Foxboro and Buffalo in probably the most emotionally charged game so far this year are major foundations to a surge leading into the final weeks of the season. Dime-store psychology: Chip wants nothing more than to lay a viscous smack down on Arians, who has not necessarily had the nicest things to say about Chip in the past. If they can squeeze out a third win in a row against arguably the second best team in the conference, it will be a galvanizing game. We win out if that happens and have momentum, attitude and swagger going into a host playoff game.

No 'bye week'.

No resting.

Get out there, unleash Cox on Palmer, beat the #### out of them and take this #######ed division.

Rowe played a ton of snaps yesterday, and I didn't see many times he was getting beat. I imagine if he gets matched up against top WR's (Calvin Johnson, etc..) he'll get burned more, but he's looking like he'll be a solid CB on the outside.

We'd better get Cox locked up this offseason. I suspect they'll part way with Marcus Smith - if he's so bad in his 2nd year we can't rotate him in periodically to give Barwin a breather, he's a waste of a roster spot.

Fitzgerald, John Brown, and Michael Floyd are going to present quite a test for the Eagles defensive backfield. We really need Barwin and Cox to play great games and limit the time Palmer has back there.

Agree, as well as Graham and Curry. The pass rush from the front while playing nickel and/or dropping LBs has been outstanding.

Sry but I don't see us beating the cards. Hope I'm wrong but they are better in just about every phase and deep. We need to play the best game of the season to keep it close imo

I don't think we'll beat them, either. Larry F. usually goes off for 150-2 whenever he plays us, that will likely continue.

Regardless, the 2 division games left are going to make or break the season.

While we're obviously the underdogs, I have a better feeling about it than I had before the New England game.
