*Official 2015 Philadelphia Eagles* - Winning when it doesnt count (3 Viewers)

How could they not give him one more year? Trolls aside, even if you dislike Chip you can't say he destroyed the team that badly. Really wanted to see what he could do next year, I'm worried we are going to be worse off totally starting from scratch.

I really hope we end up hearing what went down.
Not that roto is gospel, but they think it too or the guy doing the write up did.

Eagles fired coach/GM Chip Kelly.

VP of Player Personnel Ed Marynowitz has also been fired. The Eagles announced the moves themselves, issuing a terse press release. The announcement isn't stunning in and of itself, but the timing is. It suggests deep discord between the two sides after Kelly made a mess of his roster after winning a power struggle for personnel duties last winter. Kelly produced 10-win campaigns in each of his first two years on the job, but gutted his roster with questionable moves last spring that resulted in an imperfect defense and deeply dysfunctional offense. As a general manager, Kelly seemed to be making it up as he went along. As a coach, he struggled to connect with his players as men, turning many off with confidence that blurred with hubris. The prevailing scuttlebutt had been that Kelly would return to college if canned, but all the big openings have been filled. If Kelly wants another shot at the NFL, the Titans and Dolphins might be his two most logical landing places.

Dude just go away, you're adding nothing here. Spare us the 2 days of "I'm right, I told you so. Eagles suck, Chip sucks". Throwing a random post of substance every 5 posts isn't fooling anyone.

He was clearly given way too much power and control well before he could handle it. Not to mention his ridiculously large ego led to so many stupid decisions and too much stubbornness. It sucks now thinking back to how exciting it was when he got here, but his act became played out and now I'm anxious to see who'll be leading this next chapter.
This is where I am, too. And, out of playoff contention, why wait until Monday? On to 2016.

They're saying he will be looking for another NFL job
i would definitely think he is, and i am pretty confident he will get one. He has some good opportunities around the league too with some promising young QBs. if he goes to Tennessee and they become a force for the next 7-10 years i'll be real pissy

Was shocked they didn't let him play it out and that makes me ask if anyone knows:"if they have an eye on someone who is a coach for a playoff team (josh mcdaniels, etc), is this a move they make so they can interview now before they have to wait for the playoffs to end"?

McClane: #Eagles didn't announce it publicly, but my understanding is that Howie Roseman will return to heading the personnel department.

GOod point. Maybe this.

Sometimes you just know and I have to say it's not a shock it happened...just a shock it's before end of season. Likely something has gone down. Maybe the idea of keeping Bradford or not, etc.

What does this mean for Sam? He just went off saying it takes a lont time to learn a new system. Whoever the new coach is, we are going to have a brand new offense. I'm not sure Bradford or anyone really will fit anymore or how they'll run it. Maybe we keep Murray and run him out from under center now and not out of shotgun?

This is just so crazy. If we don't get a good established coach like Payton, we could be quite bad for a few years. No clue why we didn't take one more shot with Chip.

This is really surprising to me. People on the outside who think that it shouldn't be shocking have to understand how out of character it is for Lurie to move from a coach this quickly and to fire him before the season even ends.

Clearly Kelly was not leading the team in a way that Lurie liked. I don't know what Lurie really knows about personnel, so I doubt it is about the actual record or the moves that Chip made in the offseason. Kelly must have really been rubbing players and other team employees the wrong way (as there have been some rumblings about) and been completely unwilling to bend at all. Lurie is generally a patient guy, so Chip must have been so dug in in order to force Lurie's hand like this.

Yeah, the Bradford thing is fascinating now. What the hell are they going to do at QB? and with the rest of the personnel? Wow, there are so many questions now.

Ultimately when you cant see where a team is going it's time to change it up.
 Actually give the eagles brass a lot of credit here. They knew it wasnt going to work and cut bait before Chip did any more damage.

I think he has his guy too. Otherwise why fire him now? He's always played it cool before
Who could it be? Can anyone give a list of possible potential coaches out there? He wouldn't dare take another college coach right now I'd think. Cower????
Gruden and Cowher will never coach again IMO

McDanials...Hell, maybe even McDermott?

If nothing else it will be pretty damn interesting to see who ends up being our GM, HC and QB.

Get Murray a FB too please lol

They're talking about it now on Comcast but the Kelly comments about the GM was interesting too. I'm wondering if Jeff removed him from it and basically told Kelly to keep it quiet?

i'm trying to think what kind of possible candidate would want to take this team now. I guess if Lurie brings back Howie you have a guy who knows personnel and can work with what the team has (and won't give out really any bad contracts), but as an incoming coach i have to think you take a look at this team and wonder what the heck you are going to do with it.

And with the Bradford talk, I have to think this is a good indication of his future with the team. If Lurie wanted to keep him around he probably would have asked Sam his 2 cents, if not and this is a surprise to Sam it is likely out the door with him. As long as Sanchez isn't the starter next year, i would be alright

I think bradford is more likely to leave now. He doesn't want a new system, but he's gonna get one no matter what now. Might as well pick the team that pays the most and has the best personel. Not sure that's us. I would like him to stay but would be kinda shocked if he did

I am not really thinking Lurie has a guy lined up. It's possible, but not sure about that. I think once we were eliminated, he did what needed to be done. The team was not following Chip, hasn't been following Chip, and wasn't going to follow him next year. So, once you know it's going to happen, why not just get it over with?

To badly paraphrase 'When Harry Met Sally,' once you realize you don't want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible'

Ya Gruden is done.

Always thought McDaniels would stay in NE until BB retired and take over there.

The good thing is, Bradford isn't really a "typical Chip QB". Not saying he didn't work in Chip's system, but he could probably work in another system too. Wonder if he wants to stay now though, Chip was his biggest fan. He may take off if he sees the ####storm coming.

he can't really leave if they franchise him right?

And all i can think about is how much i would have really liked to see Chip with a QB who he had faith in. Maybe that was Bradfrod and that is why Lurie said we can't keep with this and have Bradford for the next 3-4 years. But seeing Chip with a guy that he really wanted would have been really interesting.

At this point we need Sam though. There's listerally no one else. It WILL Be Sanchez unless we draft one.

Who is going to be coaching next week? Please don't let this be a rallying point for our team. We need to lose. Even moreso now.

i know there were rumours a few times about Bradford wanting to retire. I wonder if there is any truth to it

I'm much more excited with Bradford as our QB in a normal offense than I was going forward with him and Chip.
He did work in Chip's offense though once he got settled into it. We have no one else. Unless we start someone like Connor Cook who we can get with pick #10.
