Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (2 Viewers)

You know SIDA I agree with you about that we used to have moxie, and we used to be a stronger nation, more respected. But it wasn't about being tougher, or being a bully the way Trump acts. It was about ingenuity, smarts, and generosity. What were our greatest post-war achievements? The Berlin Airlift. The Marshall Plan. The space program. The Civil Rights movement. Norman Borlaug, who fed the world. We were smarter, dammit. We were generous. And we beat back Communism and saved the world from starvation.

That's what we need to get back to. Trump, IMO, leads us in the wrong direction.
All playing aside, I get why many don't like Trump.  He's brash, no doubt about it.  I don't disagree with what was said above.  Given that, I'm not sure why everyone is concerned so much about Trump but not Bernie.  Yes we beat back Communism, yet so many seem ready to embrace Socialism.  To me, that's the much more dangerous to us long term than someone who you think may be too brash or a bad president.

Wonder with all that good stuff, why we accepted the lefts view  of America.

They sure make Harry Reid sound brilliant, a extremely powerful and smart man. It's hard for me to reconcile that with the incredibly boring speaker that I've seen from time to time. He comes off as such a non-entity.

The rumor is that Greg Abbott will be endorsing Cruz tomorrow. The Texas primary is Cruz's Alamo, so the importance of this endorsement cannot be understated. If you're a Rubio supporter, this is terrible news. If Cruz wins in Texas, he's likely to remain in the race until at least March 15. Therefore, Rubio will not be able to face Trump one-on-one in Florida. If Rubio doesn't win on his home turf, his viability will be a difficult sell.

Does any of this really matter?

It just feels like one of those Monopoly games where one guy owns all the hotels (no pun intended!) and the other players are scrambling around, trying to avoid bankruptcy, but it's just a matter a time, really.

These caucuses are complete circuses...we really need to replace them with something legitimate.

First Iowa and now this cluster####?  Embarrassing for the entire country.

Does it really matter if he has a Trump shirt on? Is it going to change him if he wore a blank t-shirt? At least they know who they have to monitor when he wears it on the front of his shirt.

It's quite amazing that in 2016 they can't figure out a way to let people use technology to submit a secure and valid vote.

These people shouldn't get to decide the color of their tshirt let alone one of the 2 people who could become the president. Sorry but look at them.

Wow. 93% dissatisfied or angry with the government.
In the Western Mountain states people are very irate.  Utah/Nevada/Colorado/Montana/Idao/NewMexico.

This isn't Iowa or New Hampshire, out West the "cowboy" contingency is very pissed off...and the Republicans out here don't vote on religion unlike parts of the Midwest and the South.  Completely different ballgame out West.

Well, I think that Rubio can win if Cruz exits before March 15. I don't think that's going to happen, however, unless Cruz loses the Texas primary. Look, Cruz wants to be president some day, and he has to recognize that the chances of that happening decreases significantly if Rubio is the nominee. IMO, Rubio will beat Clinton, whereas Trump will not. Therefore, Cruz is probably thinking that it's best for him to block Rubio, and then run again in four years. Otherwise, he has to wait at least eight years.
That's something I hadn't really considered, but certainly sounds plausible.

I could see Cruz losing Texas to Trump and STILL refusing to quit. Why should he give a damn about Rubio?

Rubio can't win.  He's a lightweight extremist.  He's getting crushed in Florida.  He has been the most disappointing candidate of 2016.  His biggest selling point is the myth that people think he can win.  Eight more years of another amateur in the White House is not a winning strategy...

Good for Trump. Curious if the NY primary will have any meaning when it rolls around April 19.

I'll vote for Trump then and again in November unless the Dems manage to get Bernie on the ticket.

Amanda Carpenter just said this on CNN, if Rubio forces Cruz out, Trump likely gets more of his voters.
This is not news Amanda.

Anyone who thinks a large segment of cruz voters won't go to Trump haven't been paying attention.  This has been known for months.

Timmy still trying to understand how such a travesty has occurred...how are all these people so uninformed/moronic/uneducated etc. etc.

Poor guy.

Only 30% of Latinos in Nevada are Republican. Which means only 13% of Latinos in the state supported Trump. Still seems too high to me. But those numbers shouldn't exactly encourage any Trump fans...

I love how Trump is sandbagging his victory speech here, obviously maximizing TV exposure here as every major network is fixated on the phenomenon.
