Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (3 Viewers)

Every time I watch Cruz speak I feel the need to wash my hands or take a shower.

What a sleazeball.

It's not easy to make me sit back and think "well, maybe Trump's not such an awful choice after all."  Cruz gets me there.

Wanting immigrants to come legally = wanted illegal immigrants dead?

Just trying to connect your dots here.
My dots are loudly cheering rounding up people, disrupting their lives, and throwing them out of the country. There's just a bit of a disconnect with supposed Christian values.

I agree we should have a revamped legal system of entry into this country. I'm just tired of the tea party types finding scapegoats for all their problems and their candidates engaging in fear and hate mongering by playing with their emotions on the issue. And for a candidate that claims to be so religiously pure it's a disgrace.

I think your characterization of a large group of people wanting people dead because you don't agree with their stance is disgraceful.

I can see where you're coming from in that there are certainly some double-standard issues when it comes to the professed values and their stance on ilegal immigrants, but you saying stuff like that is equally as ignorant, disrespectful and divisive.

Is it really that much of a stretch though? This is the same dude who was introduced by the "Homosexuals are worthy of death." pastor. ####ting on minorities is sort of what Cruz does. I think cap'n grudge can get away with a little hyperbole here.

I get that it's hyperbole, and I'm not saying Cruz is anything other than a steaming pile of crap.

I just get sick of people painting illegal immigrants as victims and anyone that wants to curb it or reform it as a bigot, racist and terrible human being. It's tiresome rhetoric from both sides. And I think it takes away from what should be a serious discussion.

Fair enough. Death to the Brown People is over the top. Just trying to draw a parallel to how ridiculous the right is on the issue.

I literally have never met one...where are these people coming from?
Hard right, the talk radio sphere, Mark Levin, etc.  If you're in the South you run into them, the ones running and backing primary challenges to the right of the most right leaning members of Congress.

I understand. I know where I stand on the immigration issue and recognize that it's not exactly black and white. It's just..

Both Trump and Cruz command something like a 80% market share of the GOP vote right now. Most of us recognize, at the very least, that there are some bigoted undertones associated with Trump's campaign/rhetoric. However, Cruz never gets called out on it. I mean, he recently came out saying that we should patrol Muslim neighborhoods. What a ####### jackass.

Again, these two guys command the overwhelming majority of the vote. Assuming that those voters aren't exactly fond of minorities isn't a broad generalization given what we actually hear both Trump and Cruz say. There are other factors at play, sure, but let's call a spade a spade. At least, you can understand why it's believable that someone would take an anti-immigration stance on the right solely due to the fact that they're a bigot given their track record.

This shows how much of a moronic human being you are.  I mean you really are a confused pathetic person.

To his credit he did say earlier that he thinks it will go to one of the three guys running. I know that sounds like a joke but it was in response all the Ryan talk.
Yeah he basically ruled out Ryan and Romney by saying it will someone who's currently running.  Hannity pressed him that it must be either Trump or Cruz and Priebus wouldn't say that.  He praised Kasich.

I actually think a Ted Cruz presidency would be more deleterious to the country than a Trump presidency.

Anyone else think so?

Of course. Ted Cruz actually believes everything that he says. With Trump, there's really only a 50% chance that he believes what he says, and maybe a 25% chance that he'd ever act on any of it.

I was wavering between Cruz and Rubio when the primary came to TX. I'm not exactly a "Cruz fan", but I voted for him.

I'm still not sure what people are so repulsed by.

Ted Cruz literally would have had the US default on its debt and singlehandedly got us downgraded to AA as a result.  But at least we know where he stands and there will some sort of logic behind his views.  I may disagree with every single thing he believes when it comes to social issues, but at least there is consistency.  He is a sitting senator from one of the largest states in this country, with a legal background with well-respected positions no in the judiciary.

Who the #### knows what Trump even believes?  His lack of coherence and predictability would cause permanent damage to the standing of the United States in the world and significantly impair markets worldwide.

WI GOP voters want nominee with most delegates, not a majority. LINK

I think the only thing worse for the GOP than Trump winning the nominations is for someone else to get it and have it look "stolen".

I'll take Ted Cruz, he can definitely beat Hilary. Especially with how alienated the Democratic party is going to be when superdelegates cost Bernie the election.

Neither Cruz nor Trump can pull enough woman voters to make it close.  It's over.

Why their is no vigor about the SCOTUS nominee.

All about the house and senate now.
