***Official 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs thread : Pens raise the cup for 4th time in franchise history*** (1 Viewer)

so Joel Ward is turning into one of the greatest depth player playoff performers of this era.  what a career.  20 goals and 46 points in 71 games and always shows up in the biggest moments.

Wild probably let him go for nothing because they weren't expecting to be in the playoffs much so I get it.

The NHL must be drooling over a possible Bolts/Sharks series. A ratings bonanza.
Not like the Bay area is a small market, especially compared with St. Louis. Once the Warriors get eliminated, maybe those bandwagoners will all jump on the Sharks train.

Probably good for the health of the league to get a new team into the Cup finals too.

Pens are huge favorites tonight though, so I'm sure Crosby will help if anyone is really worried about this.

Was considering hedging my TB bet, but not sure it makes any sense if I have to spend -210 to do so.

Yeah I look at tonight as a total toss-up and like the Bolts +170. Pens looked good last game but Lightning still had chances they didn't convert.

I still think Murray tends to overcommit to original side so we'll see if Lightning can get some 2v1.

Maybe say f it and double down on the bolts.  +170 does seem silly in a game 7.

:pickle:

This is the year that I had no expectations of the Sharks to even make the playoffs and cut the cable so I had no good way to watch them.  Although the Warriors and Giants have had success of late, I would trade those championships for a Stanley Cup.  Hoping they can make it happen.

+185 or higher widely available.  may get +200 at some point but will probably settle in around +180.  great price on a good team.

From what I heard, the LA v NY cup final really didn't draw much better than others.  Chicago moves the needle but thats about it.   PTI put it best, there really are not many fair weather hockey fan.  Only game 6 and 7 really seem to draw.

5dimes has these odds posted

Sharks to win the Cup: +110
Pens to win the Cup: +145
Bolts to win the Cup: +465

Pens vs Sharks: -145
Sharks vs Bolts: -130

Kenny Albert and Micheletti are  so clueless when it comes to referee calls and other minor things like what is actually going on
Nobody is as bad as Bob Cole. He can't even make out who the players are.

"Blah, blah, bl...SCORE!"

Thats how he calls a game. But he good for reminding you how much time remaining and the score in case you're still in the 80s.

Go sharks! Looking forward to the cup coming to Jumbo Joe's hometown!

I heard Cole referred to the Sharks as the "North Stars" during Game 5. That's either really confused, or dropping some real old school NHL knowledge.

Walking quietly back to the car the other night my wife randomly screamed WHY DID YOU HAVE TO GET ME INTO THIS BULL####. I WAS HAPPY WITHOUT SPORTS

Might get knifed if they lose tonight. Welcome to sports misery, honey.

they've had such a weird offseason and this tops it off.  no idea why they make that move, Gubrandson looked like part of the core.
reports are he turned down a nice 4-yr deal.  now it makes a lot more sense

Stamkos showed up at the arena with the starters...Cooper very cryptic in his pre game presser, telling reporters to NOT ask questions about the lineup, then he says "were gonna put our best foot forward, and if Stamkos is in the lineup, its our best foot forward".....is Stammer a go?

Would be nice if they both lose. I'm still holding a grudge against Tampa from game 7 last year.

Im not a historian, when was the last time a team won back to back years on the road in conference finals?

It's basically impossible for Pitt to play worse than the Rangers did defending their home ice in game 7 last year, so this should be more of a challenge.

Never happened, as best as I can tell. Of course, the Kings won three straight road Game 7s two years ago ... at San Jose, at Anaheim and then at Chicago.

Tampa looks much sharper tonight even though they missed a couple of opportunities near the Pens net in the first. Tampa scores first in this game.

eta: or not
