***Official 2018 Stanley Cup playoffs thread: Caps and Mystics to raise banners together in October. Congrats DC!!!!!!! (2 Viewers)

Hedman can’t play the whole game.  my buddy Colb’s isnt going to stop that relentless onslaught of forecheck and pressure.  Vas is soft when pressed.  Peg in 5
He doesn’t have to. McDonaugh plays 25 and Stralman plays 22.

And I'm pretty sure the Bolts can forecheck just fine.

I forget who I picked when I re-seeded but I think I had Peg/Burgh.

I think it's Peg in six, Bolts in six, and then Bolts again in six.

I really don’t give a #### who is in final. ####tsburgh, Lostan, Sharts, and Butthole Aneheims are out. Oh and Blacksucks, they gone!

Go hockey!

I saw about 5 minutes of game 7 last night.  Nashville looked like keystone cops out there.  Winnipeg totally pwned them.  I’m in Vegas for game 1.  Should be interesting.

Sold my Sunday Lightning/Caps tix for $800  :pickle:  Rather be going, but in Vegas for the weekend. It’s hard.

well I guess for NHL records purposes they consider the first incarnation the phoenix franchise.....and they haven't made a conference finals ever either.

Congrats to the city of Winnipeg....who does have three WHA titles
Didn't they? A few years back?

eta* Phoenix made it in 2012 before they were Arizona, but I see you're talking about the first incarnation so maybe that qualifies.

Strong game by Ulfie Nilson and Anders Hedberg last night...can’t believe Bobby Hull is playing this well at his age...

Preds has not played all that well the past couple of weeks til the last few games.

Hope the depth makes a difference and Rinne plays like he did most of last postseason.

Should be fun anyway.
Pretty much how the postseason went.  They had a great hot streak a month or so before the playoffs...then just sort of lollygagged through the last few weeks.  They got away with doing that a bit against Colorado...but this Winnipeg series was strange.

The defense, for all the talk, was poor much of the series (other than the 2 wins in Winnipeg).  Rinne, while some games there was nothing he could do, just wasn't that good this postseason.  Too many soft goals.  The first one last night should not happen...a bit unlucky and the guy found just the right spot, but have to close that off.  The second goal was on him and on the D.  Stastny goes in to get the puck, 2 defenders back, and he does not get touched.  Gets a shot off, and the rebound and nobody touches him.  Rinne looked lost after the first shot like he expected it to squirt out the other side.  Even with that, I questioned pulling him that quickly.  I get trying to spark the team, as nobody was playing with any urgency...but coming off of a shut out...pulling a guy like Rinne that quickly seemed like a very rash decision.

In the end, can't win giving up that many goals...and definitely can't win against Winnipeg while only scoring once.  There just was no energy last night, which is disappointing for a game 7.  All in all, a fun series that came down to 7 games, even though i don't think many would have predicted the road teams wining that much.  These 2 teams will probably meet like this a few more times the way things look going forward barring big injuries.  a lot of talent out there...

Really not sure who to pull for now.  Will be 2 great series coming up and should set up for a great Cup finals.

I'll tell you what though, I definitely knew that Boston Toronto was going 7.  you can take that to the bank brohan.

Division Finals:

M1 Washington vs M2 Pittsburgh ; 4-3
A1 Tampa Bay vs A2 Boston ; 4-2

C1 Nashville vs C2 Winnipeg ; 4-3
P1 Vegas vs P3 San Jose ; 4-2
if you keep betting against Vegas they lose eventually, right?  like when the coin keeps coming up tails, heads is due.

Conference Finals:

A1 Tampa Bay vs M1 Washington ; 4-2

C2 Winnipeg vs P1 Vegas ; 4-0

Just keep doubling your bet each time you lose, so that when you finally win, you'll get back to even. It's a foolproof approach.

Big news for the Caps out of Tampa.

Looks like their extremely talented, highly respected difference-making forward is back in the line up tonight, despite lingering questions about his health.

That's right. Burakovksy's Back!

Some other guy, names also starts with B, apparently not playing but shouldn't matter too much. They handled Pittsburgh pretty easily without him over the last 4 periods of the last series.

Would be great to have them both back, but I'll take 5 out of 6 at this point in the process.  Burakovsky back ... does anyone else stand a chance now!!!

j/k
