Thought this was the best episode yet. Some problems are looming: father doesnt like guns, kid is a junkie, daughter is clueless. Only one that gets it is mom.

I dug the explanation of how the mom got the pills at the school. It's like the writers are scouring the Internet for their mistakes and trying to explain them away the next week.

Still good. You guys that are complaining: you do realize that this isn't going to be as gory and action-packed as TWD, right?
it seems to be picking up so not sure this will hold true

We spent the last 5 minutes of the show yelling "CAAAAAARRRLLL" and "TRAVIS" at each other like the Budweiser frogs.

Also, to whoever mentioned it, I think the open trunk was the boyfriend's parents coming home from Vegas and becoming the buffet. sick neighbor had an SUV I think.

I will say, after episode 1 and the first part of 2, I was hoping the daughter was zombie-chow. She rallied a bit at the end there, leaving camcorder boy at the top of my list.
blasphemy, the daughter is smokin hot.
She looks a lot like Elizabeth Olson IMO.

I'm with you on this being the best episode to date. Really liked the hospital scene. Rather than having them go into the hospital and all hell breaks loose, I prefer the way they did it. Driving by with the lone walker coming out of the hospital. Very well done.

Even though I thought it was a bit weak having the electric go out this early in the game, the scene of the lights going out was also well done.

I wonder when the light goes on in the bf's head that he has to take a different approach to things and he becomes a badass. You can't have the head of the unit be a wimp/moralist in a zombie apocalypse.

Kentric's complaint box:

Seems the bf's car wasn't all that far away from the barber shop. I know they wanted to introduce some new characters, but I can't help but question why they felt the need to hide out in the barber shop to begin with? The riot was just starting. Riots don't die out in 30 minutes, they tend to roll on. Also, what was with them being able to just turn the car around and drive away with clear sailing. Seems that was a very contained riot.

There was a throwaway line when the riot first started that said the cops had the area cordoned off to contain the protest and they couldn't get out so they had to lay low until it was cleared by the cops. Looked like the cops lost control of the perimeter and the two families were able to slip through.

I liked the hospital scene as well. Again, it will start getting gorier, but this is this show right now. I actually, also thought the electricity part was good as well. It wasn't out for good, they were having the same issues as the hospital, i.e. they lost power, likely due to some zombies eating someone in the control room, but got it back on.

I think the druggie is going to be the one who becomes a Shane like guy, they seem to be showing that transition already and the "dad" will be like the Rick good guy. Of course we now introduce a Lori character who won't sleep with her son, but will be torn between her son and her lover.

I think my only worry is that the national guard stuff lasts too long.

The daughter is clueless, still. Strolling out of the house with booty shorts on and earbuds in. But wow, shes hot.

She is also the only one who knows that sinply dying turns you into a walker. Since she witnesses an overdose with Mrs. Chan.

what is the creepy true detective maze in the old asian couple's backyard?

also, did the cops not notice brains splattered all over the living room from that shot gun blast in their "check" of the house?

Looked like some sort of backyard arbor or whatever. Probably for string beans or something similar since they're asianed.

I'll take a wild guess and say they cleaned up the brains.

lol- yeah, that was definitly a wtf scooby doo kind of thing back there just to add creep factor.

as was the timing of the bf getting home just as they realized the neighbor broke into their house. and the national guard shooting old lady just in the nick.

I get that the characters are all figuring this out- eg; the dad/bf is still holding onto hopes for a cure, teen daughter dressing like she's going to the mall, etc.... but I feel like having the audience know what the future holds kind of gets in the way of the story telling. at least for me.

and what's with Ruben Blades being so prepped for this psychologically? I guess we'll get his back-story (MS-13, leftist guerilla, whatever).

eta: for the unapologetic WD lovers... I still enjoy the show, just reporting what I see.

and if they didn't get splattered- would it matter? I assume mr miagi got coated with the wife's insides.

Gonna guess the Army sees the moms injury and think she got bit and they end up gunning down her and the dad

Maybe the daughter sticks on and becomes a love interest for Junkie Depp

ruben blades isn't going anywhere.
Agreed. He's too vibrant to die just yet. Don't think the army kills the mother either. They need her to become a Walker and bring a suspenseful moment to bear on the family (get ready for some major tears from the hot daughter).

Per IMDBand the number of episodes it lists for the main cast, none of the main characters we've seen are going to die anytime soon. It does appear that the El Salvadorian family will split off and half one episode where just they are in it.

So I guess the airplane they showed in the sky will be the one featured in the mini-series during TWD commercials that someone posted about.

Did you happen to notice when they were showing that plane how it made a sudden jerk to the left? Maybe I was seeing things, anyone else notice that?

Anyway, as for this show, stated real slow, the first couple episodes were meh. I think it is picking up with this last episode. I am thinking we get into the scenarios now where things try to get quarantined, then the military people start acting like total A-holes, and all heck breaks loose.

A little less skeptical now, seems the show is on the up and up.

Yeah, that's why I noticed it. Looked there was definitely some problem going on in that plane.

I know most of this stuff is schtick, but, to the extent that any of these comments are legit, you guys are ridiculously impatient. It's about to pop off.

They still dont even know it is zombies

I wonder what this thread would be like if TWD didn't exist. Page 1 still?

If the zombie apocalypse did really hit, I doubt many of you would be standing around just thinking, "I'm ready to see some zombie guts and you people are stupid cause there are zombies all over the place." All the while anarchy is raining down in the streets.

The show is quite good and while it is not suspenseful yet, they are trying to create a situation that has never happened so there is not much evidence to fall back on here.

Even though a zombie apocalypse is obviously not happening, some sort of huge disease outbreak that caused mass panic/chaos would have pretty much the same affect on society with everyone going ape #### and all communication and utilities going out.

Essentially no law and order with accelerated chaos.

Of course, we don't really know how it would all play out in that scenario, either.

Not too big of a fan of this Kim Dickens actress, but when she was boozing up and talking to Travis's ex wife and said "it would break him" if he had to put her down, that looked like she was being little miss bithcy pants to the ex. Nice

He my man now, step off

Good thing the looters left their truck alone. No broken windows, flat tires, nothing.

Also why are they able to leave the scene of the riot so easily, let alone get home without running into massive panic traffic? It's not like this thing is contained, the grid is already going down.

L.A. people sure are smart. They have the zombies practically figured out already, only 3 episodes in. It took the hayseeds from Georgia 3 seasons to get this far.

well in all fairness that truck already looked messed up after running over the high school drug dealer 4 times ...dented ...blood spatter ...broken windshield
