Or at least having him as a main impetus to the CDC scrambling over "something brewing", military involvement/mobilization, etc.

They completely screwed it up.
I did really like the zombie/addict parallel they dug into for a couple episodes.

there really are no characters on FTWD to root for any more. I guess we can root for Morgan, since he is trying to be noble and look for other ways besides killing. and the new cowboy dude seems like a pretty interesting character. but both of those options are kinda...meh.

Madison is awful. Alicia is hot, but also a bratty PITA. Victor is a joke. Nick is dead. Luciana...who cares. and a bunch of red shirts at the baseball stadium.

probably one of the most interesting characters the show has had was the girl Alex from season 2 (she was resourceful and her motivations were unclear), but of course they never bothered to bring her back.

after giving up on TWD, I'm really trying to find a reason to keep watching this...

Really liked this week's episode of FTWD. I had given up on it in the middle of the first season.

Decided to give it another go with this season after reading some favorable things about it especially in comparison to TWD.

TWD had turned into this bloated cartoonish battle between Rick and Negan. I'm just about done with it. Will wait to hear if next season looks any better.

Me too. These were the kind of small group, actually trying to do something type of episodes that I liked in TWD. Small group on the run with a focused purpose.

Didn't see the accidentally fall down the water slide coming at all, what a surprise.  And cactus zombies, almost as bad as Z Nation.

I like Z Nation :kicksrock:

but in all honesty the Cacti zombies didn't bother me, I think because they only took up about a minute of the show and didn't have a big impact. it was a nice little "that is interesting", but didn't overdue it.

all right just watched it.  Still pretty bad.  I am having a real hard time with the stadium group and the vulture group.  The vultures just let them out to explore and the stadium group isnt doing any preemptive killing?  When the girl and the lady went up the slide and they saw the bottom was barricaded didnt they think someone would be up there?  Also when does the barrel of a m-60 just come off.  Speaking of the M-60 why in the hell would you leave that there?  I guess I am not following this too closely because none of this is making sense especially the girl video taping everything.  So did they just lie to her to get a ride to the weapons?  Man it seems like I missed a lot but granted I was folding laundry during the bulk of the episode.

I took it as the guy with the M-60 died up there and was the zombie that knocked them down the slide.  I also took it as they told true stories that happened to be feel good stories in the end that convinced the swat team truck lady to go with them once they gathered up the guns - to see how the combined stories end with them confronting the vulture group.  And if they all made the right choices by staying with the stadium plan.

Didn't see either of them take the big gun, probably would have been more useful than the medical supplies.  But, maybe it was because Alycia broke it.

The episode was fine, though I don't get why they waded through the pool to get to the slide. When they were both on the slide, there was a quick overhead view. Looks like they easily could have scooted around the outside of the pool and just climbed up on the slide from the concrete.

I'm liking the season so far.  I didn't see the Vulture group guy as Negan and the Saviors but more as a reverse Terminus group with a new Gareth.  That's who the leader reminds me of.  Talks like him too.

The water slide thing was silly, I admit.  I'd rather climb up the debris at the steps than wade through the pool and tubes.  And to leave and not take the 60 cal is just dumb.

It looked like she twisted the barrel off (screw in to assemble?) and it would have been able to be put back together.  Them not somehow taking it and the ammo with them was really dumb.

I think they told her the truth but used her to take them to the weapons.  But I thought she was taking them to where she found the flag as her end of the deal for getting their story.  So I was confused there too.

The vultures weren't harassing them as they brought back trucks of stuff, so they could have brought the gun back, set it up and cleared the parking lot in no time.  I guess Madison didn't want to kill anyone.  But the way it looks, the stadium people get destroyed anyway.  With all the time jumps, I'm not sure if I missed that part or they haven't shown it yet.

Its all very confusing writing right now.   I hope they pull it together but the biggest "WTF" is the vultures just hanging out and letting them do the runs.  What exactly do they want from madisons crew?

Good question.  They explained it like the vultures were going to wait out the group until they die from starvation, yet they let them go look for food and don't stop/search their vehicles when they come back.  They poisoned their crops, okay.  They wait them out and then take their stuff, which includes food/supplies.  But if they wait until they starve, there won't be any food that's left to take.   :loco:

I guess they're lying to them and waiting for the right moment to move in on them.  You'd think they would attack the groups that leave on runs if that were the case.  Get them little by little.  But with these writers, who knows?

Fire the writers.

Liked this episode very much. Centered on John Dorie and the Laura/Naomi characters. Morgan is becoming tolerable and he and Dorie have the potential of becoming an interesting duo. Last two episodes have been very watchable and leave you with the desire to know what happens next or what did previously happen.

The new show runners have brought new life and characters into the show.

The John Dorie character is becoming a favorite.

I agree with this.

Agreed. These were the type of episodes I used to enjoy in TWD. Reminds me of Beth and Daryl’s episode that lead to her death episode, which was great. There was no question why Daryl instantly killed the cop that shot Beth. It made sense because of their episode together that set that all up.

yeah, i'd love to hear what is different with this show as compared to TWD behind the scenes. AMC's money maker is TWD, but FWD just seems to have much better writers and people behind it

It’s only been a couple episodes, but John might be one of the best characters ever on either version of TWD. Not just that he’s an honorable bad### kinda guy, but his character feels lived in and tangible. Good stuff.

True. You feel like he has been living alone all that time. I’m looking forward to whatever he’s going to do to the vultures for Laura. I wouldn’t mind a little over the top way to finish that off.

John Dorie has got to be the lamest character ever of either series.   Felt like they were playing little house on the prairie. Of course walkers not smart enough to walk down an embankment somehow figure out how to break past every type of barrier they put up on the bridge.

Shouldn't that back story have been told to the camera?  Again, where does nut case Morgan get off giving anyone advise. Horrible episode.

Agree that this was a good episode.  I was interested in seeing Dorie's back story and wasn't disappointed.  The only part of the episode I didn't like was the silly way they introduced a sticky situation with walkers.  Why, all of the sudden, are walkers interested in parked cars on bridges and trying to bust through fences on bridges?  That was really dumb.  Otherwise, great episode.

Most episodes without Madison involved are pretty good in this franchise, though.

Even before they moved the car, it made no sense that he had random walkers showing up on his shoreline because they got through the fence on the bridge... Why?? I understand when the one saw them below and pushed through to come after them... But just randomly having a walker push through the fence to get to nothing was strange.

But yea, otherwise for a "character study" episode I thought it was well done.

what is good with FWD is that if we get stuff like the bolded above, it is usually only one thing and they usually wrap it up in that same episode. it has happened a few times, but I have been able to overlook because it just seems like lazy writing to not think of something more creative. but they don't let it effect the main plot line and also don't drag it on

Tyrese take this award, without a doubt. Maybe it is just because he was so much better of a character in the comics, but the guy was just incredibly lame on the show.

T-Dog may take 2nd place. So I think Dorie has some work to do to get to be the lamest character in either series

Yeah, it felt like they just had to throw in a danger sequence with walkers to air an episode.  Okay, I looked past it and enjoyed the episode.  But why wouldn't they keep floating down river?  who knows...

Ex-cop, cowboy, gun aficionado......can't live with himself because he had to shoot a criminal?  Not to mention the boo hoo I love you part.   ;)

Yep, I am tapping out.  Officially done.   Saying this show has jumped the shark would just be an insult to Fonzie.  So much stupid, so much bad writing, bad acting, horrible plotlines, nothing even remotely makes sense.  At all.  I could go on a rant about the Vultures and Madisons group but whats the point.  Anyone with a brain can see how bad this show is.  I really wanted this to work but damn if its not worse than TWD.  Its comically bad at this point.  Almost like they are trying to get cancelled.

Why the F did Alycia shoot the Cowboy?

The Cowboy's girlfriend is suddenly working with the Vultures even after being saved by Madison and Co.?

They fight wars worse than TWD; hey let's all get together at point blank range!

And again,  :lmao: , dumb ### psycho Morgan walking around telling people what to do and what choices to make.  Where does he get off?

I think we're still missing what happens after the Vultures leave and the end of this episode, obviously but, can the writers be any more obtuse with the audience?

Lots to complain about with the show. But if you think she was actually trying to shoot the cowboy, then you should probably just quit watching. And by that, I mean TV in general, not just this show.

That being said, if John dies, then the two characters I most cared about will be gone in back to back weeks. Though admittedly these shows are easier to watch wen you really don't care if anyone dies.

As for "Laura" switching sides, maybe the should change the name to "Fear the Walking Traitor" since that seems to be this show's central theme.

Instead on insulting maybe you could just explain it to me?  Because it makes zero sense no matter what her intentions were.

I owe you an insult back so the Cowboy, you actually like that character?  Good grief, that explains a lot.

The season premiere had me thinking we’d get a zombie A-Team of Morgan, the cowboy guy, and the journalist driving around the West in their armored Mystery Machine helping the downtrodden and I was  pumped until the last minute of that episode when team ####### showed back up. They could have even picked up the druggie to be Shaggy/Scooby/Murdoch.

Golden opportunity wasted.

Since then, I’ve caught like 5 seconds of an episode when my DVR flipped to it before I could stop the recording.

Can’t stand Kim Dickens. At least Kurt Sutter had the sense to kill her off (sometime something deck chairs on the Titanic, but I digress) in SOA.

She screamed the lady's name, pointed the gun at her, and pulled the trigger. Cowboy yells "No!" and jumps in front of her taking the bullet.

From online article at TV Guide:

As John ran to reunite with Naomi, revenge-crazed Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) took a shot at her but hit John in the abdomen instead.

Naomi quickly tried to tend to him, but he didn't look so good as the episode ended.

John better not be dead. He's the best new character and Garret Dillahunt's performance is delightful. He brings a shot in the arm of hope to the grim show, and we're not ready to lose that yet.

Still on, right?

I need some honesty here... Worth catching up on the last few or no?
No.  But it's like a train wreck, I just can't look away for some reason.

Out of the hundred of thousands of shows its surprising how few interest me that I can still fit this in late at night when I'm bored.

ETA: Anyone watch The Colony?  It's almost as bad, but, the characters are getting a little better and that snake in the grass Snyder is almost funny.

I think Colony found its feet as it progresses... I enjoy it, and far less cringey writingwise than TWD world Even if the heights aren't as high.

The eldest son character was cringe worthy the first  seasons or so.  He’s pretty good this season so far.

I don't even remember. And Hard not to woof at Lori mowing lawns and whatnot. But honestly, the writing didn't hit anywhere near the stupidity as twd or again, the twd at its best.

And I hear you about TWD, even if I've been slowly migrating from live, to same night DVR, to later in the week DVR to asking whether I should catch up on several weeks in here. I'm a sucker for post apoc stuff. Hell... I'm even still watching The 100.
