*** Official Marvels Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (1 Viewer)

If I had to guess, Skye's history, assuming there is a Kree connection (I think there is), will occupy the first half of the season up to the winter break. Season 2 will presumably be kicking off shortly after Guardians of the Galaxy, which will introduce some Kree content in earnest.

Then we get Agent Carter in the winter break, which would Easter Egg some of the rebuilding SHIELD storyline by introducing bits about how SHIELD was originally built. Avengers 2 is probably after the Season 2 finale (or very nearly contemporaneous with it), and would, I imagine, be more likely to drive a possible Season 3.

Loved it, especially the "found it!" I too was rolling my eyes, especially since Garrett went off the deep-end in the episode and started sounding like a crazy person with some wacky, madman dialogue but what a great setup to the joke.

A bit frustrating for all these new bits they introduced and having to wait a while. Tons of directions they could go with Fitz, memory loss seems an obvious way to draw out him & Simons getting together but hopefully they will have a good original twist on that. Were Eric and Bill(?) clones? Twins? Something specific to the MCU? What were the toys at the new base they didnt show? Skye's father/origins? When will we see Ward again? And of course the big drawing on the wall mystery? Sucks to wait 3-4 months.

IIRC, I read somewhere that Coulson is not going to be in Avengers 2.

I forgot about Eric and Bill. Reminds me of a bad movie (Beerfest), where one of the main characters is killed. Right after the funeral, his "twin" shows up to take his place and even says to call him his brother's name to honor him. It was one of the funny parts that allowed it to be like the death never happened. The Bill scenario felt like that, i.e. introduce a twin to act just like him.

 If you go back to when the crew arrived at the first secret base, Oswald's character mentions that he plays a lot HALO (or Call of Duty, or some game) online with his brother who's at another location.

I missed that. I'd prefer the clone since that would explain how his brother was EXACTLY like him in every way, including the whole laniards thing.

This is off topic slightly but am I the only one who doesn't understand the fascination with Patton Owalt? I'm not saying he sucks or anything but there seems to be this aura around the guy of some supreme talent and I'm not sure why.

"Brother" may be different than the normal use of the term. Could be clone-brothers.

I agree. Strongly insinuated that they were clones (lack of emotion over the "twins" death).

Satisfying end to a good season. Looking forward to next year.

Other possibility from the Marvel Universe is a Life Model Decoy.

I just assumed they were LMDs. Its been Marvel's fall back with SHIELD agents in the past - including Fury.

I don't know about "fascination," but the guy's standup is absolutely hilarious.

Given the tone of this show, and Whedon's stuff in general, I wouldn't be surprised if they never truly answer what Oswald is, but instead just have it be a running gag.

I've actually only heard a very small bit of Oswalt's stand-up. I just think he's a good actor. Whether as the voice of Remy, or in Young Adult (where he gave a brave and committed performance in an underrated movie), or Big Fan, or even as a guest star in probably the best episode of Doll House (Man on the Street).

I also enjoy his online presence, because someone needs to take the piss out of Salon.

Season Premiere tonight. Thought it was just ok but then they knocked the cover off the ball in the last 5-10 minutes.

For those of us who don't read the comics was the Nazi guy at the end a player from the comics?

Not surprised they're turning Ward into a Hannibal Lecter type but at the start hope they expand beyond that as the season goes on.

Big fan of Chloe Bennet's bangs.

Yes, Daniel Whitehall aka: Kraken is a Hydra operative in the comic book universe

Nice to see Bruce Banner's father make an appearance last night.
I missed this. Who?

In the box @ the begining, that was the blue alien, wasn't it?

Lots of mysteries set in motion. Fortunately, I have faith that they'll answer them before the season ends (unlike Lost).

Reference to the monster of the week last night. The guy who change his body to any substance he touches. That was the power that Bruce Banner's father got in the first hulk movie when he exposed himself to gamma radiation.

If so, that reference from the Hulk movie was a reference to this character (Crusher Creek, aka The Absorbing Man) from the comics.

I assume this means Simmons will have an arc as a bad guy or almost becomes a bad guy, then find redemption via Fitz. I mean, only crazy villains have hallucinations in the Marvel universe, right?

I thought that was a nice twist. Fitz and Simmons were a bright spot even when the show was struggling along early last season. This gives them a nice running sub-plot to work through this season.

BTW:

Leo Fitz

Jemma Simmons

Oh. OK. Fitz then. :)

I'm hoping she's on a beach somewhere in a bikini and at least half of next week's episode is devoted to her being on a beach in a bikini.

correct. The character last night was most certainly patented after The Absorbing Man right down to his looks and identical powers. The picture below was basically used in the scene where he fought May.

I would like to give a shout out to Ming Na who continues to defy the law of age. Just incredible. She looks better now than she did almost 20 years ago on ER.

And for a counter point, time was not any where as kind to Lucy Lawless who is around 5 years younger than Ming Na.

I enjoyed the first episode. I was surprised at

Xena's death(assuming she is dead), I figured she was going to have a multi episode arc

In that first, Ang Lee Hulk movie, Absorbing Man/Crusher Creel was written into most of the script drafts. Only at the end of pre-production did they ditch him in the shooting script, give his powers to Banner's dad, and leave us with what we got.

ETA: I don't think he'll be a "monster of the week" either—season previews showed more of him, and he's such a beloved Marvel villain, I think he'll turn up quite a few times this season.

Pretty decent start to the season.

Thought it was a nice play the whole episode. 1st you think Fitz is a vegetable when Simmons first talks to him, then the quick joke when he snaps out of it and responds to her.

Then in the last few minutes they pull the rug out from under us.

I did not catch this during the flash back scene.

The ratings might’ve been a disappointment, but the season two premiere of ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was surprisingly awesome — and even snuck in a massive easter egg that was easy to miss.

Ahead of launching a prequel spinoff series later this fall with Agent Carter, Hayley Atwell and some of the Howling Commandos popped up in a flashback scene to open the season premiere to set a new arc about a mysterious 0-8-4.

Carter’s team raids a HYDRA base, where they box up the mysterious artifact that goes on to cause Coulson’s new-look S.H.I.E.L.D. (and poor Agent Hartley) a boatload of problems in the modern-day era. That throwback intro for the mysterious artifact was cool enough, but there’s apparently a really big additional tidbit most viewers didn’t notice.

If you were paying very close attention before they locked up that weird little metal thingie, you'd see that Dum Dum Dugan (Neal McDonough) peeks inside another crate that Carter slams shut before he can open it. But, we do get a peek inside for just a split second. So what’s there? The arm of a blue alien that looks extremely familiar for those who watched season one.

You know, the big mystery alien that spawned that mysterious resurrection fluid that is now pumping through the veins of at least two of our beloved team members? Yeah, that guy. When asked about the potentially huge easter egg, producer Jeph Loeb had this to say to Entertainment Weekly:

“I think you know us well enough to know that we don’t put anything there by accident.”

So what could it mean? For one thing, it seems we’ll definitely be digging deeper into the blue alien mystery, which most fans theorize is a Kree. But, if the body has been kicking around Earth since the 1940s (or much longer, depending on how long HYDRA had it) that adds a whole new layer to the mix. Were ancient aliens kicking around Earth in the Marvel-verse? Was it a fluke crash landing?

So this could answer what the GF and I asked after the episode: What else did they grab when Caulsen said stick to the plan? Has to be that box if Caulsen is so obsessed with it.

No, the plan was to steal a Quinjet. As far we know the blue alien body, if it was the same one, is currently buried under the "Guest House" facility.

No one reads my posts until Entertainment Weekly steals my content.
I read your comment and agreed, just didn't have a chance to post since I watched it later in the week.

That said, my only comment was that the first show was really hard to follow. So many new people and changes that it seemed really rushed. Just wasn't anywhere close to as good as the end of last season. Hopefully, that all sorts itself out.

it took me a while to get caught up from last season, but i did in time to watch the premier last week

I love this show, it is everything I had hoped it would be.

Really enjoying the show. I hope the ratings aren't a death knell.

Could have used a "previously on" to start this episode, unless dvr just failed to record it.

Maybe I'm not watching that channel enough but I saw absolutely NO commercials indicating its first episode was to be last week.

Maybe that's why the ratings were not good?
