Cena heel turn is an all-time great decision. Now turn him loose.

Cody’s response to The Rock with a giant F-bomb and then Michael Cole works a “****” into his commentary.

They are signaling a content shift. Exciting times! It’s HHH’s kickoff to his first “era”.

I didn't care for it for two reasons, Rock and Travis Scott.
This turn could have been done without either of them. In fact, I would argue it would have been substantially better without those two.
Imagine Cody walks down to congratulate Cena, they hug and hype up the crown and then BAM!

Most shocking heel turn in history IMO. Only rival is Hogan. Thought it was done terrific.

I'm not clamoring for the Rock ever to wrestle again in a singles match and would much prefer him as an authority figure if anything.

Also think we're still getting heel Punk. We'll get at least Punk/Rollins at mania where Punk blames Rollins for being aligned with Cena/Rock after costing him the match at elimination chamber. Jey Uso will get screwed somewhere in this angle. [Possibly by Punk & Heyman]. With neither Cena/Rock as regulars, they need others to keep the angle alive.

Still seems like Cena will turn back at some point and not retire as a heel but you never know. HHH is good at this.

Opens up some storylines. Reigns/Rock to see if chief outranks boss. Cena/Rock down the road echoing Vader/Palpatine.

Will be interested in the buildup to Cena/Cody @ WM…and who might align with or against them. Is another faction coming?

It's interesting, I thought when they moved to Netflix we were going to get a change to Seth Rollins "middle name". But I saw a clip of Michael Cole on Logan's podcast, and they said Netflix is pretty strict with its restrictions, so they not move as far as we anticipated.

Totally agree. The Rock has looked lost out there. I don't know if he thinks this is great, but it is awful. Travis Scott has no business being up there (he did deliver what appeared to be a pretty stiff slap/punch to Cody).

In your scenario it would have reminded me of what is still the biggest shocking heel turn for 13 year old me - when Mr. Wonderful destroyed Hulk Hogan. Man that would have been great. It was still good mind you, but I think it would have been better in your setup.

I think there is no chance for Cena to retire as a heel. I think he gets the record breaking championship, probably to drop it to Randy Orton. Near Survivor Series we should be back (if not done by then) to Cena being a face. I just don't think he'll want to walk out of his last match hearing boos. People (whether they liked him or not during his career) will want to thank the man on his way out.

We will have to see how it plays out as far as all-time heel turns go, but Hogan's in '96 is still the tops by far, not just because of the way it was done -- no one saw it coming plus Hogan, after 12+ years of being the ultimate good guy in wrestling, immediately telling the fans to stick it five minutes after the turn -- but because of it's far-reaching effects, like how it changed the business (WCW suddenly beating the WWF in Monday night ratings, for one). Heck, you still see fans at shows wearing nWo shirts, nearly 30 years later.

It's harder to pull that off now with the internet age and social media and it being more obvious that even that it is work to the point that Rock comes out in press conferences basically out of the Final Boss character and talks about what happens in there like it's just another acting job with a story he is telling.

Plus, I totally agree about the Travis Scott thing. He had ZERO business being out there and his presence did take a bit away from the impact. It make it look a bit clownish. It's hard to believe that they thought that was a good idea given what a massive swerve Cena's turn was, but I am guessing Dwayne has the power to do whatever he wants and no one was going to tell him that his buddy couldn't come out there with him.

No clue who the Travis guy is or what purpose he serves but I absolutely loved the Rock being part of it and his Final Boss authority character that won't be shoved down viewers throats every week.

The whole "burning sage" (?) led me to believe It was responsible for Cena turning.....and he'll eventually snap out of it and turn back face :shrug:Seems as off the wall as the soul thing. I don't watch any of their movies but seems like they're using WWE to possibly promote future movie characters.

I was more shocked at Cena turn than I was Hogan walking down & turning. Both the top moments in the history of wrestling.

I personally hope Punk eventually joins them. I think he & Heyman will be able to continue it semi-regularly on TV. Heyman still owes Punk a favor. And they both need to go heel

It does make you wonder if a 3rd wrestler will be added to their faction, someone who is there every week and can keep it going on a weekly basis while Cena and Rock are often making movies most of the time.

There is no way Punk doesn't have a LARGE role in Wrestlemania, so it will be interesting to see how he is used in the next two months. I feel like he is Rock and Cena in that even a heel turn will see a big chunk of the crowd cheering for him simply because he has that legend status and a lot of fans are cheering for him no matter what.

Travis Scott is a rapper. Appears they may be using his song as the official 'Mania song. I thought it took so much away from the turn.

Uneven Raw last night IMO.

Punk/Rollins and Ripley-Sky were fun to watch. Penta and Otis, not so much.

Since the Bloodline storyline went on life support after Reigns-Sikoa, nothing particularly compelling seems to have filled the void. If Cena is off on movie location, hopefully they have a solid plan across multiple storylines leading up to WM.

Read today that Cody was actually hurt by Travis Scott's stiff punch, broke his ear drum and an eye socket. Not sure how true but WWE cannot be happy about this if true

WWE's own fault for letting a dipstick c-level celeb in the ring to be part of one of their biggest swerves in a long time. The bumps and worked punches should be left to the professionals.
Lol I get your point but that guy is not a c-level celebrity. At all.

D-level? Did I give him too much?

Guys I hate to inform you of this but you’re old and no longer in the target demographic. I’m sorry.

AEW just capped off one of the greatest feuds of all time with last night’s Hollywood Ending at Revolution.

Toni Storm vs Mariah May - wow!

These PPVs are always worth the money. The main event WAS a big ol’ dud. The rest of the card absolutely crushed it.

It's amazing Charlotte has been in the business this long & can't cut a promo to save her life. Physically she doesn't look healthy at all (nevermind the botched facial work).

She had a nice run but it's apparent she has go away heat. No one wants to see her. She's completely dragged down Stratton. Face...heel...no one cares. And she was out for over a year I believe.

I'd send Charlotte home until she contract runs out. She's brutally bad in any promo segments. She's right amongst the worst in wrestling history in getting rattled in promos.

---------------------------------------
Outside Cody/Cena, I really don't have a great deal of interest in this year's Mania. A lot to be desired. Jey/Gunther has been blah. Jey/Gunther part 25 has been so bad I'd have pivoted off the match entirely. Drew v. Priest is a waste of time. Would have inserted Drew into Jey's spot somehow (injuring him etc... whatever).......or put him in the Rollins v. Reigns v. Punk match.

KO apparently has a legit neck injury. Looked like he was getting into it with a fan on the way out. I really loved KO's heel work this year, hope he's ok and recovers well.

There's no doubt Jeys entrance is over but his mic skills are abysmal. It's yeet/uce just over and over and over again. At some point, you've got to have some substance at that level on the mic.

Both him and his brother look like they've added quite a bit of weight/cycled off whatever they were on. Their ring attires do them no favors. They scream tag team/mid card/jobbers

Fear they're going to put the belt on him. Much like they had Sami Zayn go over him for whatever reason. Hopefully it's short...very short reign. Id unquestionably keep the belt on Gunther. I think he's done a great job on the mic. Particularly as a foreigner which has been next to impossible in the course of wrestling history for television. He's leaps and bounds better than Jey.

Think Jey will cool off like LA Knight. At least LA Knight can cut promos. The latter needs to turn heel IMO or at least be more of a tweener. He's much better in that role

I don't like Jey's super Yeet promos as much but I don't understand how people forget how good he was in the Bloodline and before. Intense Jey is a lot better on the mic than Ucey Jey (Go back to his promo with Bron before he won as example of him dropping the Yeet and hitting his roots).

I also don't get how people ride Gunther when they are knocking Jey. Does Gunther spam a word? No but he spams everything else. Ring is sacred. Beneath me. I like Gunther but he's become so bland and it's understandable why. He's held a title in WWE like 80% of the time he's been in it. Even when he loses he finds a way to level up like when he lost the IC title last year he was immediately the King of the Ring winner and got the title shot at SummerSlam and then won. Of course his character should think everyone is beneath him. The lone bit of doubt was the Sami Zahn rematch which was good but then he wins that and back to the same old. Even losing to Cody in Saudi did nothing because it was a fake title worth nothing. Gunther needs to lose. Then Gunther needs to lose again in a rematch or a number 1 contenders match. He needs to struggle so his character can grow.

Jey actually has an arc to finish, Gunther needs an arc to start. A struggle of confidence or why he can't get back to the top. This arc for Jey has been like 4 and a half years of challenging Roman, then becoming the right hand man, all the Bloodline stuff, then going off on his own. They still are showing his arc by having doubts as they creep closer. What's Gunther doing? Same super confident bully. In four and a half years of Jey's arc, Gunther hasn't changed a bit, has barely shown a lick of range. Winning does nothing for Gunther but could open up doors for character growth.

With what happened to Jimmy, I just don't see anyway Jey loses at Mania. Seems like a good guy, but he's not a long term champ. May be set for a transitional time, which I also think is good. People hold on to belts too long.

Definitely out for quite a while, some are saying it is worse than Edge's and Bryan's. Such a shame, one of my favorites.

The WM41 card is kind of a letdown for me this year.
Really feels like an episode of Raw/Smackdown outside Cody/Cena & Reigns/Seth/Punk. TBH I'm not all that excited for the latter either. I think the dynamic between Punk-Reigns has been a total bust. The turn itself was fine but Cena as a heel has been meh at best

"Main event Jey" opening the show. Where he belongs. I'm sure he may win but the Jey-Goonther program #75 has been nauseating. I just hope it's a very very short title reign because the guy can't cut a promo to save his life Uce .....yeet. Wish they pivoted and had Drew get Jeys spot.

Drew is been completely wasted in a program with Priest who I think is one of the coldest performers in their programming.

I think they're going to have to have something big happen at Mania or Raw after Mania to keep people's interest in watching their programming heading to summer.

It feels like a Summerslam card more than Mania to me...less mainstream stuff and more focus on inside the ring. That said, I'm very confident that they'll pull off a fun and memorable event. Any number of matches can steal the show...I'm thinking Styles/Paul, each women's title match, and Fatu's coronation all want to put a stamp on the event. Then the main events just need to come through.

I mostly agree with you.

That Cena heel turn and then him not showing up for weeks was the stupidest thing ever.

It is hard to do a proper Punk/Reigns build when Reigns can't be bothered to show up on a regular basis.

I am sure both main events will be good matches, but the builds to both have been lacking for sure.

Uso winning the Rumble was stupid and I felt the way immediately (it felt like one of those Vince swerves..."let's book a finish no one expects for giggles!"). And it's clear that he is not a main event guy.

I don't get the lame booking of Drew since the feud with Punk finished, but I am guessing they have big plans for him post-Wrestlemania. He wouldn't have resigned last year without promises of good stuff sooner rather than later.

I'm sure wasn't in the cards at all but really think if they're going to use Orton at Mania to have him involved in main event

Cody about to beat Cena, Rock music hits and comes to ring, then Orton runs down.....

...and go from there.

WM Gob checking in here ...

What is the difference between Raw and Smackdown?

Looks like the same people to me
