My predicted winners for Night 1 of WrestleMania:
El Grande Americano (I think Rey might have been hurt last night, so maybe Rey Fenix takes the spot or Dragon Lee)
Jade
New Day
Fatu
Jey (pulling for Gunther)
Tiffy
CM Punk (pulling for Seth)

Just curious, do the major sports books take bets on wrestling, or is the scripted nature of it something that they won't touch it over?

I'm going to stick with El Grande as the winner although I could see where they want Fenix to win. Likely some additional hijinks from American Made to get him the win.

Gunther doesn't get as many Mania power ups as everyone else.

I'm kinda interested in a vulnerable championship reign...all the heels should be tripping over each other to get a shot at Jey.
Who taps that quick to a sleeper, especially a monster like Gunther. I felt like I knew what the result would be, but that was a terrible finish.

I agree though, I like it when a championship feels like it can be won at any point rather than just once or twice a year.

The WM41 card is kind of a letdown for me this year.
Really feels like an episode of Raw/Smackdown outside Cody/Cena & Reigns/Seth/Punk.
Still feels the case.

Announcers didn't even know who was who in that War Raider team. Another zzzz ending too

Jade/Naomi at Mania? 😕

I completely get making this a 2 night event. But this year, more than ever, feels like really spread so thin.

Appalling to me Drew McIntyre is involved in an absolutely nothing feud vs Priest

Hey GB Hags! We having fun?
Been a minute, lots of change in my world.

I’m a dad! Adopted a newborn baby girl in late March, been on the wrong end of a long heat sequence in the NICU.

She’s mounting a babyface comeback last couple days, we will be out of here and home soon!
Congrats! My son (who is watching with me) spent 15 days in the NICU. Now he's 25 :D Time goes fast, enjoy it!

This has been a very sloppy match with Flair and Tiffy.

ETA: Tiff's lip is busted because of the sloppy placement of the chops. Saw her pop her in the mouth with one of them.

Charlotte def sandbagged the end of the match. Wish they'd just send her home and never resigned her. I think WWE women's division has moved on from the Charlotte/Mone/Becky/Bayley crew.

That pre-match promo with Punk was awesome. Probably my favorite part of the show so far

I agree about the women. Bayley will be the new Nattie in that she'll always have a job because she will do the right thing for the younger wrestlers, but Charlotte's ego won't let her do that. Becky probably would, but I think she's content being a mom.

I only caught the main event because I was at a soccer match. After we scored the second goal the announcer was on the video board. He had on Yeet sunglasses and yeeted after announcing the goal.

Anyway, my top three for the night:
1. Main Event
2. LA Knight/Fatu
3. Lucha Match
Those were good matches. Both of the women matches were poor. New Day War Raiders was ok or average.

Still stunned they would have Gunther tap out to a sleeper hold not long after it was put on. Damages the character IMO.

Or it becomes his story...rebuilding so a quick sub won't happen again. Gunther is a special talent. This finish was part of a career long story...

1) Punk pre-match promo
2) Main Event
3) LA Knight / Fatu
Honorable mention: Masked Gable / Fenix

Thought the main event saved an otherwise flat and forgettable night of matches. I have zero interest in Jey Uso as a top guy as the guy can't cut a promo to save his life. That they finished Goonther's run in that manner with a quick tap was awful. I'd have Drew or Goonther beat Jey in a similar manner that Brock squashed Kofi to win the title. JMO Jey's another Kofi best positioned in tags or midcard.

We are ripe for a Drew run here...

Four good matches on the show

Jade Cargill vs Naomi
Jacob Fatu vs LA Knight
Rey Fénix vs Gable
Triple Threat

Favorite was Fénix vs Gable

Overall I give the show 3 stars. Good enough to watch once, not much compelling to watch again.

Agreed. I have seen this yeet thing compared to the YES movement from over a decade ago, but the massive difference is that Bryan was a far better wrestler/worker (one of the best ever, really) and storyteller; Jey is okay in the ring and terrible on the mic. Giving him this push seems like fan service more than anything given how over he is, but they are now in position to get serious heat for whatever heel beats him for the belt, and having it happen fairly quickly seems the way to go. Drew would definitely be my pick, as he is awesome on the mic and great in the ring, and needs a good push after all the crap he has eaten since the Punk feud ended. I don't think dropping it back to Gunter right away would work; his character was damaged too much by that dreadful finish last night, so they will need to rebuild him a bit first.

Drew is winning it next. I think this was just a way to get the title onto a baby face so they could get the belt to MacIntyre.

Only had 1 miss yesterday, here is what I think happens tonight:

Rhea
Logan
Drew
Liv and Raquel
Dom
RKO (vs unknown)
Cena

I think Paul Heyman shows he is aligned with who he thinks is the real tribal chief in the Rock, and has Seth interfere to help Cena win.
