Just to be clear, WhoKnew's thread titles have not been on the trolling insulting side, at all.

The guy has been the model of moderation even taking requests from Trump critics. He's a cool guy online and more than fair.

It's provided news updates and kept the title in line with current events. I'm not lobbying, just keeping the record straight.

Understood. Look, I don't have time to micro manage this every minute. It's my strong preference we don't change titles constantly in a thread. It's a moving target. I completely get it that other people like it. I hate the giant threads where you can't find anything. I hate taking a huge thread and posting a new title with a serious accusation in the title and you click on the first page and it's something 4 years old. I know the "inside people" like it. Someone visiting looks at it and is    Probably why we have so few new people coming in. 

I'd much rather start a new thread on a topic and keep it on topic. I'm not going to suspend anyone if they don't and I'm not going to look at every little thing. My guess is you guys will just wear me down on this and not do what I asked and I won't have the energy to keep asking. So do whatever you think is best. I'm asking nicely to not constantly be rotating thread titles.

For what it's worth, I think it's usually easier to find something if it's in a big thread. This thread is a good example. If I want to see what people were saying about the Russia stuff in December 2017, there's a record of it here. If the Russia stuff were spread out over 50 different threads, most of it would be much harder to find. JMHO. [Oops. I thought this was the Russia thread rather than the moderation thread -- my mistake, but same point.]

I thought I was by keeping the whining about moderation out of the Trump thread.  Trying to end the back and forth in there were people were accused of trolling for having legitimate discussion. 

I just told you last week, start your own thread for calling out aliases and "whining" about moderation (their words, not mine). It will keep everything nice and tidy.

I think this subforum is a lost cause (and I say that as someone who still posts in it on occasion).  Think about this: a thread about Jon Stewart wanting to make sure the 9/11 first responders get taken care of has a whopping 36 replies in over a week (still 1 page), while a thread the Goodbye Sarah Sanders thread, which is basically a pissing context, is over 6 pages in less time.  Most threads are snipping and #####ing at one another rather than actual, real discussion. 

I’m not sure it’s a lost cause, but your points make sense. I’m into politics, so I enjoy reading the smart and informative posters, but it certainly is getting very diluted by nonsense. I scroll by much more than I read at this point, and the mods’ exasperation and frustration is palpable. I’d love to help, but I’m not sure how. I don’t report posters, but when I see the results of reporting in the threads, it just seems to cause more angry whining. And the trolling is like nails on a chalk board.

I think the two things people can do to help would be 1) report things you see that are over the line and maybe more importantly, 2) jump into threads when you people just slapping and sniping and call them on it. If we become a board that doesn't put up with the pissing contests and the posts where they talk little about the topic and more about other posters, it'll help. Thanks.

Yeah. Maybe it would work better to just post “stop arguing” or “enough with the personal attacks,” and engage no further on that, even if they’re trying to egg you on? Joe wants us to try it, so maybe we test out brief, one-off interventions.

2 in particular that I have told I won’t respond to them.  One that’s been going on for over a year.  I often wonder what makes someone continually try over and over knowing the person won’t respond.

And yet...not considered trolling.

Its beyond odd and almost amounts to harassment.  But it is what it is...they seem to only make themselves look bad so have at it I guess.

Yeah, he asks for links to back up assertions when he knows there is no interest in discussion.  It's annoying....that can be ignored too

You and I have had very few conversations. You flew off the handle last night and made personal attacks that I thought was uncalled for. But, I didn't feel it was worth reporting. I shrug it off and move on.
