What I saw was a QB that cannot make the reads to hit the guys when they are open. Often I saw Garçon and Grant break their routes as expected and RG3 couldn't deliver. We saw with Andy Dalton how a QB can put up stats by simply making the right reads under Gruden.I am curious: unless you re-watched previous seasons' tape, what did you see in this preseason to change your mind?Admittedly-- I have been one of RG3s last defenders. I haven't done it publicly to avoid being eaten alive by the Sharks in here. I've been the optimist that's always taken the "oh he's just being played that way in the media" route. Well, my friends, I have finally opened my eyes to see the light.
I'm coming clean on this beautiful 2nd day of September 2015 to state that RG3 is a read option QB and a read option QB only. I am now on the same boat as everyone else, as I have aborted USS RG3 after the latest sinkage. He cannot and won't be a pocket passer, folks. You guys already know this and I've got enough evidence from watching his every snap and only focusing on the good things (or trying to).
I will never forget the amount of pride he gave me to be a Redskins fan during his rookie year. I will also never forget the feelings I felt of actually being somewhat good and dangerous as an offense. Those feelings are probably to blame for me holding on for this long.
I saw a QB that would shift the OL coverage prior to the snap and have that result in what looked like 24 people in the backfield.
I saw a QB who passed up the open man right in front of him to throw into double coverage.
The problem was me because he has been doing these things for years, I was just watching him with positive blinders.
