So there are 3 possible scenarios (excluding leg assignments). How do you see each shaking out if it were to happen?ABayern v BarcelonaDortmund v MadridBBayern v MadridDortmund v BarcelonaCBayern v DortmundBarcelona v Madrid
A

Barca over Madrid

B

Barca over Madrid

C

Barca over Bayern

Bayern over Barca. Real over Dortmund (although I do think Klopp has the right idea against Madrid, which is to try to take Xabi Alonso out of the game).

Bayern / Real would be my preferred final.

But I'd probably enjoy any matchup. I'm rooting against Barca, but that's not anyone's fault. I find their dominance a bit tedious and I dislike a lot of Barca fans.

Zorres with a beauty to open the scoring today for Chelsea in Moscow, his 4th in the past 3 Europa games (3 with the mask). CFC goes through on aggregate. Warren Barton declared during the telecast that he has "inside information" "within the last 24 hours" that Lamps will move to LA Galaxy.

Edit to fix my misquote of the Lampard rumor.

Barcelona didn't exactly cruise past Milan and PSG, even if the latter can be attributed to Messi's injury. I imagine Bartra's going to be forced into action. Pique hasn't looked all that great. Alves willfully continues to shirk any defensive responsibility. Busquets was awful yesterday.

I think they lose to Real, definitely lose to Bayern, and are probably a toss-up to beat Dortmund.

Fading Barcelona, but no other bets. Riding Bayern 8/1 and probably not hedging off at any point.

Spurs :choke:
:towelwave: Now they can concentrate on getting a CL spot.
The Arsenal way? Pass up a chance at a trophy for 4th?
You've been a Liverpool fan too long. Champions League berth means much more than Europa or FA cup gold.

Chelsea fans, back me up here. You are in all three. Rank your order of preference.
CL>>> FA Cup>>> Europa Leeg
Same for me.

Everyone ranks the CL the highest. But actually being in a EL semi with a chance to win it >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> fourth place.

No way. CL means at least 25M pounds to a PL team, plus a lot of prestige. That is huge when competing in the transfer market for top talent.

EL is a sideshow by comparison.

How has Arsenal done in the transfer market? They're consistently in the CL and can't keep players. I use Arsenal as an example because that's how I feel Tottenham will go about business. They won't splash a lot of cash in the market in order to make a CL run, imo.

Should be fun. Bayern is a better tactical matchup for Barcelona than the other two.

They also have a brand new, self-financed stadium and a first class training facility. They're now (supposedly) over the hump on the financing of those two and are going to have a new shirt sponsorship deal that will be far better than the one that they essentially settled for almost 10 years ago to get the stadium built.

In short, there's more going on here with Arsenal.

Everyone is on Bayern? It will be interesting to see how Barça responds to being the underdog.

Do you guys think Bayern will play their game and keep it open or play defensively? I'd have to think on the run they are on they won't be intimidated, and won't play defensively. That has generally worked out well for Barca.

Any more Europa league games were going to keep Spurs out of the CL, so I'm glad it's over. If they don't make the CL they lose Bale, pretty much guaranteed. Maybe they still lose him if they do make it, but at least they have a shot.

Long term suffering fans would probably prefer the trophy. As a newer fan I'm willing to let that one go for the hope of future glory.

So everyone but Gator agrees. Now, what do you think Rafa's goals are?

As an interim guy I think they may be the exact opposite. Trophies look better on resumes than 4th place finishes. This bodes well for Arsenal and Spurs.

I think so too. Also, they still have Robben, right? I like those odds.
Their top striker is out for the first leg too.
True. That just leaves Mario Gomez or Claudio Pizarro.

Financially, qualifying for the UCL is much more lucrative than a trophy.

Most English Chelsea fans would probably prefer the FA Cup but who knows what Abramovich covets. Chelsea has never won the Europa or UEFA Cup so that may count for something for somebody.

Huge three weeks upcoming for AFC Wimbledon. A few unfortunate results have put the Dons back in the thick of the relegation battle. They're sitting two points above the drop now but have the worst goal differential in the league.

All three opponents are in the top half of the league including an away game at league leaders Gillingham.
