I think Holland just got stuck between generations.  They had a lot of guys leave after their nice run in Brazil and the cupboard is kind of bare right now.  The Eredivisie is a seller's league but that didn't seem to hurt Portugal or France.  They've always produced talent and I don't think that changes with one down cycle.

They were a pot 1 team for the WC2018 draw but were unfortunate to get picked with France.

England can relate... they've been "stuck between generations" before & after '66....

Speaking of Champion's League, Spurs just announced ticket prices for the group games that will be played at Wembley - range from £70 to £150.

And those are the prices for all 3 games combined.  They also have permission to use all of Wembley for those games, so it looks like they are shooting for as big a crowd as they can get rather than take a big payday.
Pretty reasonable.  Would buy them in a heartbeat if I was in London.

Yes they are.  I'd love to go see a couple more - pretty cool opportunity to see these guys.

Had a good time in Philly watching CP last night.  The speed difference between the two teams was pretty shocking.  And the size difference too - holy hell.  Had it not been for Philly's #2 and #3 keepers playing out of their minds last night, CP should've won 2 or 3 - 0.  You could tell CP's starters weren't 100% into the game - it became really apparent when they made a ton of second half subs and those guys were flying all around the ball.

Philly made some nice chances, but couldn't finish for ####.  One of them gave me bad flashbacks to Wondo. :X

One small thing that jumped out to me that kind of spoke to the difference between the MLS and the other major sports... they were running a friggin 50/50 raffle.
I'm glad you had fun, and Talen is an awesome place to watch matches.  But don't rip the Union/MLS for something that all kinds of "major sports" teams also do.

Thanks for pointing that out.  I googled the Union 50/50 after seeing those links to see if they were also doing it for charity....I had no idea! :bag:

I thought they were raising money for themselves, which came off cheap as hell to me given how big they were.

Looks like Kante to Chelsea is in fact gonna happen.  Pretty good acquisition for Chelsea I suppose.

Sad for Leicester.

You and me both,  GB.
@TheGator...I see that Inter is interested in Portugal #10 Joao Mario, & have offered 40 € for him; but his club is demanding 60€...after watching him at the Euros, is his club form really representative of a 60€ evaluation?  More importantly, as a Roma fan, should I fear him on Inter?  As it stands now in Serie A, it's gonna be Juve.....& then Roma, Napoli, & Inter fighting for that valued 2nd CL spot (3rd only guarantees CL playoff).

More on this - and Arsenal supporters can chime in - but I thought Arsenal was operating under some austerity while financing the stadium.  In terms of revenue, Arsenal was 3rd in the league in the 14/15 season, latest available, with £345M (on par with City at £352), Chelsea 4th at £319 - Spurs were 5th at £198, and Newcastle 6th at £129.

And, Chelsea may only be 4th in revenue, but they have an owner who is not afraid to spend a ruble or 2.
They paid off the stadium like three years ago.  Gadzidis has said plenty of times that there's a "war chest" available.  And Arsenal certainly used it for Sanchez and Ozil.  But Wenger is still very reluctant to pay over market.  Which is why we've been linked with Higuain, Lacazette, and Draxler for something like 4 or 5 transfer windows now and still haven't pulled the trigger.

Is it really Wenger though? I guess Xhaka for 45m Euros seems ambitious. Kroenke is richer than Abramovich (without counting his wife's resources - Sam Walton's niece) and Usamanov's net worth is probably twice Kroenke's. Zero FFP concerns. I think the problem is ownership. Kroenke has too much going on with the Rams, Rapids, Nuggets, Avalanche and his regular business. I've never seen him at Emirates. Is he in it for profits or in it for cups? Pure speculation as always.

No, not worth that...not even close(to the 60).

He's a nice little player but not a game changer and not like he's a teenager that will get quite a bit better. He's 23/24 and is what he is, neat little player that could do well for Inter, but my guess is his valuation is closer to 25M than 40/60M

so there was a flight sale a couple weeks so im off to spain in oct for 2 weeks.

I would like to catch a Barcelona or real madrid game.

if anyone has gone to a game in either stadium , how do I get tickets ?

im going on the assumption that the season tickets holders have got all the seats so they are sold out.

are there ticket scalpers outside the stadium or do I just buy via ticket site when I get to spain

thanks
FYI, the RFEF just released their schedule today.  If I am reading it correctly, Barcelona are home on the 16th and 30th of October.

 really in your office?
Yep, took that photo myself a few minutes ago... to be fair, the RM flag was crumpled up in the corner of the desk when I stumbled upon it.

ETA: I am taking suggestions for introduction shtick for when dude is actually here.

Easy answer is you're a Barcelona/Arsenal fan

Maybe ask them what they are, play dumb. Then when he tries explaining it don't recognize any of the players or other teams he mentions.

Basically, be every guy that complains about soccer on here

Guy: This is Real Madrid, a huge soccer team in Spain.

Jaysus: oh, yeah..Messi plays for them right? I know who you mean now. Messi just won the Copa EURO. That Messi guy got hurt in the championship cup.

Guy: That was Ronaldo

Jaysus: Who?

Neither will be sold out for most games more than a week or two in advance due to how massive the stadiums are.  Easiest to go through their websites.

Any recommendations for a decent cleat at a decent price? Want to start playing pickup games at the park, maybe weekly.

Also, oxygen tanks?
