Liverpool were in a similar situation last year. Stuck 4-5 points back, also needed to win Europa to qualify.Yes Champions League. Either by top 4 or winning Europa. Got to be positive!
The problem ManU will have (especially with the FA cup) is that the fixture congestion will become very tough.
It almost gets to the point where you have to pick which is more important. By the end, LIV was playing the backups for the final 3-4 EPL games. The gamble didn't work.
That being said, the Europa was much stronger last year. LIV beat ManU, Dortmund and Villarreal before losing to Sevilla. With Tottenham losing, you can pretty easily make the case that United are clearly the best team left.

In the first case, sale of Fabian Castillo, season ticket-holders will split $28,000 - so its not exactly a windfall, but as a marketing campaign, I think its a great way to keep fans in the loop and involved with the team

Amazing environment Sunday night. We started tailgating at 12:30 ahead of a 7:30 kickoff. Hung out near the supporters groups and somehow missed the march to the stadium. Got inside 30 min ahead of kickoff. Still fired up 2 days later.
Tough result to lose the game. Shows Our youth to blow a lead and then implode late. To have the game in hand late also shows our talent. If Tara does his job, we don't lost these games in August. I like what we can do out there. BRING ON MUFC!!

The supporters march in to the stadium was pretty cool. I was a little too far away to take video on my crappy phone but took a couple of still shots (I still need to upload all my pics and post it). The fan village area was pretty cool. Did you sign the Golden Spike? The tailgating kind of surprised me - I used to folks being out there for GT football games but I didn't think I'd see as many folks tailgating for MLS - just never dawned on me.
The atmosphere was great but I will say there were lulls at times when it would have been cool if they had more songs/chants going. I know that will happen over time but the only chants we really heard/were involved with were "A-T-L" and "Ole". I was just blown away by it being a completely full house and how it was 98% AU fans with probably 75% wearing AU gear.

Somehow we missed the walk and subsequently missed signing the spike. The NYRB fans were actually pretty funny riding us for only having a few songs.
We already have 20 people coming over Sunday for the raps game. I also saw only 600 tickets left for the Fire game in 2 weeks. Buzz around here is staying strong.

since that stadium arrived, the whole neighborhood has been growing like crazy. lots of residential, mixed-use... crazy. it definitely did used to be a bomb-site. now its a construction site. but from amtrack tracks, IIRC, there's more of the grim to look through.

The match, originally scheduled for Saturday at 2 pm ET at Gillette Stadium, will now be played on September 2 at 7 pm ET.
The decision to postpone the match was made by Major League Soccer and the two clubs after forecasts of temperatures in the low 20s at kick off, with a potential windchill in single digits. Additionally, Winter Storm Reggie is expected to bring heavy snow to southern New England on Friday.
"All of us involved in this decision believe this is in the best interest of the fans, the players, and the game," said Revolution President Brian Bilello. "We at the Revolution look forward to seeing all our fans at the Orlando game on September 2."
The Revs return to action on Saturday, March 18 at FC Dallas (8 pm ET), while Orlando's next match is slated for the same day, at home against the Philadelphia Union (7:30 pm ET).

A group of irate fans waited for the players and heckled them as they tried to leave the airport.
"These individuals verbally insulted the players before vandalising their cars," read an official PSG communiqué. "Several vehicles were damaged.
"In this extremely hostile and aggressive climate, all vehicles were escorted to ensure the safe passage of the players, their families and club staff members. One individual was struck by a car trying to escape the crowd that was physically threatening the players and their families."
The Ligue 1 giants then confirmed that "a police investigation is underway to establish exactly what happened" and stressed their "readiness" to help figure out exactly what happened.

Speaking of Gent, did everyone notice that they got beaten by three goals at home to a fellow Belgian side? I don't think it's unfair to say that that reflects poorly on Spurs, who I don't particularly like to crap on.
Spurs played poorly away to Gent. No away goals. No excuses.
Then in the return match Dele got sent off, and Spurs still should have won, but ran out of steam. But, Spurs had to have been considered one of the favorites to win the Europa League - so crashing out is a disappointment. Not a 2-10 disappointment or a 1-6 disappointment, but a bad result nonetheless.

I don't know. I'm not the best Arsenal fan, but I think I'd be more disappointed in them crashing out to Gent by any score line than getting drubbed by Bayern. The only recent Champions League knockout loss that really stings for me is Monaco, because Arsenal should have been the better team.

Biggest difference is nobody watched Spurs get dumped out of Europa. Rightly or wrongly, nobody in England really cares about Europa (though I do think Man United are trying to win their way into Champions League via Europa.)
And yes, a loss to Gent is a bad loss - but it does not look as bad as a proper thumping...
