***Official "Space Blanket" for Better Call Saul*** (13 Viewers)

For how important the sene should have been, it was terrible production.  My wife and I watched it several times and couldn't tell what was going on beyond Gus tripping the power and there being a gun.  No idea who was shooting.  No idea if Lalo was dead.  And Gus looked weak for a lot of the scene and just prior to it.  Thought it was poor delivery overall.

This had to be on purpose. Most of the episode was dark and hard to see.

Upon re-watch, this this seems pretty clear as to what happened. Gus trips the power, runs, Lalo fires, Gus gets to his gun and empties it. You can see the muzzle flashes from Gus' side.

plot hole: how did Mike and crew get a brand new stainless steel fridge in the middle of the night?  Do they have these on hand in case they need to use someone's old one for dead body storage?  If I went to Home Depot to get a fridge right now, they'd be asking me to schedule a delivery of it sometime next week.

It fell off a truck. Now stop asking questions!

What you just described is bad directing/production.  Everything you said is clear is indeed clear.  Except the only thing that matters is whether Lalo is dead.  And there's no real conclusion until we see Lalo's dead body a while later.  Obviously the assumption is he's dead.  But someone doesn't just immediately die from fairly random bullets in the dark.  No sounds.  No groans or screams.  It's ludicrous.

He got shot in the throat so impossible to scream. And they did show him still alive and smiling before bleeding out.

1) they said they’d be out by the end of the day. So they went and got it when the sun came up.

2) this show is set 17 years ago, not today with our supply chain issues

3) you walk into any store in America with enough cash and you can walk out with any item you want

One could assume they've had experience removing dead bodies from residential buildings.  If this is the tried and true method not hard to have 1 or 2 extra fridges on hand for when it's needed.

A better question though is, why the need to clear out and use the fridge in the apartment?  Wouldn't it be easier just to wheel in an empty fridge...or random box with cardboard that looks like a fridge and just use that for the body?   Have it packed with dry ice or something to preserve the dead body from smelling until they get it to wherever they need to.

Avoids the new fridge not fitting right in the space.  Also avoids any competent detective coming in and seeing a brand new hardly used fridge in a place suspected of being the last place a missing person was spotted (the size of something that could haul out a body unsuspectingly).

No.  The correct answer is, Mike is always prepared for anything. Yes the have a warehouse with extra fridges in it. It’s the same one he told that dude to stash the Jag at before they drove it to the coast.

I think you just unlocked the mystery of where Kim is during the entire run of Breaking Bad: TRAPPED IN THE FRIDGE!

We’ve maybe talked about this but if you could pick one character to do another spinoff which would you pick?

I think Lalo or possibly Gus in South America.  Not sure Mike’s cop days in Philly would be that great although I love the character.
Would these all be pre-quels?

So I signed up for AMC+ hoping to watch season 6 since it will most likely be a while for Netflix.  I was assuming all episodes that already aired from season 6 would be available.  When i click on the series,  it is only giving me a couple of shows from season 6.  Where do I find the entire season 6 that has already aired?

What streaming device are you using?

The reason I ask is that my mother uses an Amazon Firestick and the way the episode list was formatted for her was funky. She had to scroll "off screen" (left to right, I think) to find the earliest episodes of this season. Mine is through Roku and I just had to scroll down.

AMC+ unfortunately kinda sucks, and they only make season 6 episodes available for about 6 weeks after they air. Your only option to watch the other season 6 episodes right away may be to buy the individual episodes on Amazon Prime.

Definitely seemed like a big time jump but they also focused on his license plate that said 2005? Weird.

Some redditers are saying his handicapped thing said 2008 so who knows.

Everything from the past (pre-Breaking Bad) was seemingly wrapped up, so that last sequence definitely felt like the jump to the BB timeline.

Great ending for Kim in the BCS years.  We may see her again in the Gene timeline, but otherwise probably not again.  Her conscience finally kicked in again.

But if we are to judge from the 2005 license plate, we are still a couple years away from BB.

I'm gonna need to re-watch that scene with Gus and the wine again, as I feel like the intent of it went over my head.
He let his guard down and maybe could have experienced some happiness, but he’s a drug lord and doesn’t have time for love and/or didn’t want to drag somebody into it.

Okay, yeah, that would make sense. It was almost weird to see Gus talking to someone and, gasp, almost enjoying himself.  He is usually so stoic and emotionless.

I was half right about Jimmy/Saul and Kim last week.  I knew she'd be done with it.  We all did.

But missed that depressed Jimmy would turn full Saul including getting the place he wanted for them so quickly was a surprise.  And being a masturbators length from being in the BB timeline is fantastic.

That felt like they jumped forward in time a decent amount.

Absolutely.  Faster than expected but I loved it very much like Saul's new girlfriends.

I'm still trying to figure out what to expect in the next episode other than the BB/BCS complete integration.  Maybe some Gale backstory with Madrigal sprinkled in?  I assume they are saving the entire Gene ending until the finale.

That makes sense, I guess, but seemed like an awfully big scene for that minor moment that was not really needed.

I don't know, I"ll just say it, this episode was a letdown. I know any episode compared to last week would feel like that, but the whole time I was waiting for something "big" to happen and then it was just over.

The coolest part was at the end of the intro segment when he said the line about "one day you'll wake up..." which he says in BB.  (and I suppose the flipping of his combover was pretty great too)

Cinematography was amazing, but was also expecting a bit more after all the comments this week.

I took that whole Gus scene as him wanting to celebrate with the guy, but being let down when he made an excuse to get away.

What was he let down by though?  He got to upgrade to and taste an amazing wine and share some human story moments.   What more was he wanting in that setting?

Seemed to me like he was wanting to share that special bottle they were talking about.
The one the restaurant guy said he was going to go get to show him the beautiful bottle but they couldn't open it?   He already had a full open bottle of an amazing and expensive wine right in front of him to enjoy.   You can't expect the restaurant to just open a new bottle valued at thousands of dollars just because Gus has showed up after not seeing him for a while  (and again, there's still a full bottle right in front of him to enjoy)

No, no. Gus was talking about another bottle he had bought after they had talked about it before. One Gus was saving for a special celebration. The 1987 I think.

Seemed to me that Gus was trying to ask the guy over, particularly after the scene of him opening his house back up before.

I think this conversation about mundane details that really make zero difference in the show’s arc proves that scene was not executed well.

Obviously a lot less action than the two previous episodes but did tie up a lot of loose ends. Four episodes left, what’s left to wrap up heading into Breaking Bad?

Agree to disagree here. The details are what makes this show great. They didn't have to spend 10 seconds on Nacho's dad walking to the phone either.

This too.  And it was a 1978. ;)   He dared think he could invite the guy to share it, but the dude’s going off for a moment to show him a different bottle gave him the short time he needed to rethink that plan, to determine not to let his guard down even in his quiet celebration of “beating” Lalo.

I still think many of you misjudge Kim.  Kim is gangster.  She didn’t have a crisis of conscience over what she’d done; instead she had a crisis of knowing she loved Jimmy enough not to want to bring him even more deeply into where she is.

My view has been for some time that he was the one with the moral compass, trying to protect her when she isn’t the one who needs it.   See, e.g., his telling her to call off the Howard thing and her turning around to complete it.  Or her being able to coldly crush Howard’s widow with a made-up story.  It all goes to the flashback when she was a child and trudged home 7-8 miles as a matter of principle.  As Mike said, she’s made of sterner stuff.  The part tonight where Jimmy tried to reassure her that one day they’d wake up and be ok, or after the Howard memorial told her that everything would get better now?  She saw that HE needed that and was suffering.  She didn’t and wasn’t.  She knew that she was making him worse, not the other way around, and she wanted to save him because she actually loved him.

Or at least that’s how I see it. :)

Kim:  I love you too, but so what.

Kim didn’t tell Jimmy about Lalo being alive because he would know Mike was watching them and would then stop the game, because he was the one with a conscience!  But she was having fun.  She said all this, out loud.
