***Official "Space Blanket" for Better Call Saul*** (2 Viewers)

The whole attorney thing was a really long flashback.
No it wasn't. Stop ruining the thread with your nonsense. Who do you think you are, Tanner? It's just a joke. Sheesh.

1. GPJ rarely jokes. He's one of the more serious personas around this place.

2. Everyone knows black-and-white shots are the real flashbacks - duh, that's why they're black-and-white. Clearly the guy was down on his luck at some time and running in fear of white supremacists. I'm betting Uncle Jack and his gang have something to do with it.

3. Color = now. The rest of the show was in color.

Second episode was much better. The key is to showcase Saul being good at what he does. As it is in basically every show.

Tuco's friend was in Orphan Black if you want to see a really great show.
Yeah, Vic from OB is perfectly cast for this show. He's a solid actor, and while we're not supposed to like his character in OB, I think this one seems better suited for the actor and is going to be a really good character.

Second episode was really, really good. The episode in the desert had so much drama carried with it even though you knew Saul was going to live. So well done.

I also think they're taking Saul down an interesting path. The Saul from BB wouldn't have cared enough to save those two kids. Once he knew he was getting off, he would have been content to go with the other guy and go home (at least, IMO). The fact that he stayed and we got that fantastic negotiating scene is a good sign that we're going to find a very interesting depth/development to Saul's character.

Didn't take long for this thread to #### itself. Too many people who think they're overly funny. :roarin:

The show's arc is looking very familiar to BB. Take a down-on-his-luck but talented & smart guy who probably deserves more, throw a bunch of crap at him, and watch as he struggles with moral decisions that ultimately lead him down a criminal path to nowhere. Vince writes tragedy at its contemporary best.

FWIW, last night's episode was directed by Michelle Somethingorother, who was responsible for some of the better BB episodes.

She's also been tagged to direct the upcoming Wonder Woman movie.

Who was the guy breaking breadsticks? Was that a warning?
that was the husband of the lady jessie was banging in episode 1 when walt was on the joy ride with hank
Alright, all shtick aside, I'm kinda surprised they're bothering with linking such minor characters. Tuco is good fun. I get that. But this?
No, this is not true. Just more made up information from people trying to be funny

I love watching Tuco in maniac mode.
It's interesting, that actor asked to be killed off in season 2 of Bad because he didn't really like the role. Just wasn't for him. They had a lot more planned for him. Guess he realized it's his big role because he's on some TNT drama too.
Haha that's like his typical role though. I've had my #### pushed in, big time!

Sad that he turned to such a life of crime after being such a great soldier in Clear and Present Danger.

I'm glad he's recovered from getting pwned by Nic Cage and Sean Connery in The Rock.

Watched first 2 episodes last night, VERY good - looking forward to see how Jimmy McGill transitions into Saul Goodman.

Does anyone else actively search scenes/extras for any Breaking Bad references/easter eggs?

My first thought was that the breadstick breaking made Saul physically ill having just participated in a leg breaking x2 in the desert that afternoon. Completely missed the Jesse MILF husband angle, awesome catch.
This one. I tend to misread connections like this, but the constant breaking of breadsticks (must have been a profession breadstick cracker) was definitely tied to the snapping of the twins' legs.

I'm with you here. Didn't think the first episode was "all that", but the second was much better.

Lets see. In episode #1 he is approached about changing his firm's name. He states that it his birth name, but his brother argues he needs to make his own name. In episode #2 a guy who was with him out in the desert, a guy he may be slightly afraid of, or at least afraid of his association with Tuco who nearly made Jimmy crap his pants, finds him through a matchbook with Jimmy's information on it. It is already looking like Jimmy has reason to consider starting over, new name and new location. Hell, add in the fact that Jimmy McGill's most prominent, as far as we know, case involves him defending a trio of necrophiliacs and losing and he is well on his way to his updated and improved identity.

Twins and their legs do not seem to last with this production company.

That was a great episode.
I'm going to be a naysayer and say that it wasn't great. The two dorks were annoying as #### pleading with Tuco. And the entire dessert scene was just not that believable with Tuco knowing what he's really like.

This was a disappointment for me.

I don't disagree as I had some similar thoughts as you regarding this episode, but this is earlier before Tuco's brain got fried on meth so it's not crazy that he would be a bit more reasonable still. Also, it goes along with what we know of Saul that he always seems to find a way to talk his way out of any situation he's in.

We know what Tuco was like after years of being in the trade, and obviously being a substantial user of his product. This occurs some years earlier so all that need be present are the seeds of the future Tuco, and those seeds are present and already germinated.

I love Tuco's devotion to his Abuelita . It mirrors his devotion later to his Tio. At heart, once one gets past the drug addled homicidal maniac, Tuco is just a devoted family man.

Devoted family man, neglectful user of club soda on salsa stains on his Abuelita's rug.

Didn't realize this was spinoff of breaking bad (which I never watched). Figured give it a shot since came on after walking dead. Oof sorry all you fans but i thought it was terrible. Don't know if you have to watch BB to appreciate but not good.

Why are you apologizing to us, or anybody? Nobody really cares what your opinion is.

I actually care.

His opinion is obviously wrong but I still care about it

So i can watch this without seeing an episode of Breaking Bad right?
you should watch breaking bad though.
I cant seem to record season 1. And want to start there. Although yesterday I found out that the DVR has been deleting the episodes after 8 are recorded. I was blaming the wife for deleting them, but it turns out I'm dumb.. Ive been recording them on AMC since December but never paid too close attention to have many were saving

Have you thought it's possible that Tuco's character hasn't evolved yet? People change.
Fair enough. I just thought scene took forever.

I'll shut up now.

I like to think that he found a moment in his busy schedule to still take care of the carpet. I will believe this until shown otherwise. I put the odds on us seeing otherwise at around 80%. This is what they do. In fact I would be surprised if we are not treated to a vignette of Tuco trying to hide the stain or replacing the carpet.

Watched ep1/2 last night, as maybe one of the few last remaining ppl on earth who never saw an episode of BB

Will that make this less/more entertaining for me, and am I missing a lot of important links to BB?

Even though its a prequal to BB

Lots of the fun things people are enjoying on Better call Saul are developments that derived from BB.

If I was watching Saul now I don't think I would appreciate or like it as much

the Walking Dead is possibly the biggest piece of garbage on tv so this is pretty rich.

hm.... thanks. liked it, but the whole time kept wondering "what am I missing"?

What was up with "Dreamy Woman" (aka Jamie Luner)? She was billed in the credits but the scene could have used anyone. Where's that going?
Sepinall review touched on that a bit. Said they probably edited the scene to take out dialogue that was originally filmed, or perhaps they have a bigger role for her coming up.

I figured she was "working" Jimmy. She has an angle and will be back. Jimmy will find out she's a whore. He will use her to entrap the Fund pilfering County Commissioner to get him to sign the letter of engagement to defend him at the same time playing the other side and assisting Tuco's associate in ripping the guy off. These writers like to explore the world of using prostitutes and lowlifes.
