***Official "Space Blanket" for Better Call Saul*** (4 Viewers)

I've gone from sold to unsold to all in the last three weeks. Still, Chuck needs to deliver or take a bullet ASAP. Worst storyline in the BB universe by far.

Just when we thought we knew Mike they take us on a journey to the center of the man who broke his boy............Brutal. In one episode, these guys write "Ripping the Soul of a Man for Dummies". Epic!

I have the feeling the Chuck storyline is a sleeper that is going to blow us away after a slow walk wishing we could have those minutes back. Seriously, we are being totally set up. If I know these guys from BB, they'll have our chins in our laps soon with this Chuck thing. Too dry for too long.

You go Mike!

But this was one of the instances where knowing Mike was on Breaking Bad worked against the storyline. Normally you'd think those cops might take him out.
You thought they were going to take him out even after they showed the scene with him breaking in to their squad car? I told my wife while he was drinking and told them he knew that he planted a gun in the car. Not to mention it was a flashback so we knew he didn't get taken out.

I liked the episode, but not as much as the rest of you it seems. I guess it's good get get all this backstory on Mike, but there was not nearly enough Saul in this one for me.

This episode felt exactly like BB. Its starting to get really good now.

Does anyone know if this is just a one shot season leading up to BB or are they going to string it out multiple seasons due to success?

I thought I read somewhere that Bob O didnt want to get tied down with this character/series

Uh, yeah.

I look at it totaly different. I'm displeased that they named the show with a focus on Saul. I'd be thrilled if they focus was on Mike going forward. Saul/Bob are great and it's not like the show has been bad to this point. That said Mike/Johnathan are on a different level.

I get it. I just prefer the quirky nature of the show when it's focused on Saul rather than the seriousness of the last episode. Don't get me wrong, I like Mike and his story, I just prefer Saul and his.

I'm on board with this too. I loved every second of Breaking Bad, but am enjoying the lighter feel of Saul. This episode was turn from the past few weeks. It was excellently written and acted, but not necessarily what I was looking for from the show.

AMC has agreed to another spinoff called Half Measures with a BB prequal focus on Mike

ok, im just kidding

Just finished watching the episode.

Just fantastic.

In fact, I watched walking dead, bates motel, and then Saul before I fell asleep. First two were entertaining but Saul blew them away. No even close when watching in same sitting. Incredibly impressive the this spin off could compare to bb. Heck, it may now even exceed it.

Totally disagree. Even though Saul wasn't in this episode much the coffee scene and follow up "how did you know I'd do that?" scene was huge for saul's character development. In just two minutes the writers successfully continued to develop Saul. So damn impressive.

That was a fantastic episode. The guy playing Mike did a wonderful job and it was put together so well.

With that, the one thing that stayed with me was Mike's look. He looks ten years older than he did in BB. Not to practice Ageism, but it felt strange.

and yet to me he still looks 10 years younger than he did in Armed and Dangerous back in the 80's...

Yeah, Mr. krista and I were both puddles.

ETA: Thought Mr. krista, who is more erudite than I, immediately compared it to Hamlet's "O what a rogue and peasant slave am I . . ."
''I broke my boy.....''
That killed me.
Me too
it still gets me today ...just thinking back on it...thats how powerful that was
Yep. I grew up way too fast as a kid and under different circumstances than most people here. Now that I have two sons I find it increasingly difficult to balance teaching them life lessons and letting them be a kid. Until very recently I used to err on the side of making them "men". I've now backed way off of that.

AMC ordered a second season before the first one aired.

Based on the timeline of the two shows, Gilligan and Co. have six years to play with. Plenty of time for a long run. Even longer if they go post-Breaking Bad.

I haven't heard anything about Odenkirk not wanting to get tied down to Saul. The show is going to be a multiple-season ratings and critical success. It's going to make him rich and famous.

Plus, TV seasons for hour-long dramas are typically 10-13 episodes, so it leaves Bob plenty of time to work on other projects.

He must have looked like he just escaped the grave in A&D then. I just thought they could have used some makeup to make him look younger. Of course, you can argue he looked that way due to the stress/excess drinking.

Not me. I laughed and said "Mike's such a [p]ussy."
Which is why so many kids brings machine guns to school.

Ok... Let's take a breath and back away for a minute.

Bravo for last nights episode. Let's finish season 1 before we start to try and stack the two up vs each other.

In the story mike has spent several months at least at the bottom of a bottle. Granted he was a more productive drunk, but he wasn't healthy. Alcohol isn't quite meth in terms of quickly aging a person's appearance but drunks look terrible and much older after a few months on the bottle.

When we see mike in bb is life had a purpose and he wasn't drinking. He was presumably healthy. So yeah he'd look younger.

I am just guessing here but I think he looks older because they filmed this tv show literally years after the one you just watched that he was in.

reverse aging with makeup down?
Then the, he looks stupid with all that make up on, they're aren't fooling anyone crowd could come gripe.

However, I almost made a comment about how much older he looks now in the "prequel" years myself. I'm just going to roll with it though.

Better than the ridiculous zombie show? High praise indeed.
