Why wouldn't you lock up the Texans running game (and get their goal line carries) by taking Chris Brown for $1? I think you made a HUGE mistake right there.
It is cheap insurance, and against 12 teams in a league that makes sense. Against 13,000 teams, every stud pick needs to be a home run. If your #1RB goes down, you ain't winning nothing, IMHO. Brown is a great value for $1 and is a good pick regardless. But I don't think you win this thing by locking up teams. You need to pick the guys that produce.
I understand Bristol's point. But I think James Davis has a lot more upside than Chris Brown.

Entry number 102995.

QB - Aaron Rodgers - 27

QB - Joe Flacco - 14

QB - Byron Leftwich - 4

I went 3 QB's in case of injury.

RB - DeAngelo Williams - 37

RB - Ray Rice - 21

RB - Felix Jones - 11

RB - Jamaal Charles - 7

RB - Correll Buckhalter - 2

RB - Shonn Greene - 2

RB - James Davis - 2

I think I took the same RB's that most people did! I'm a little worried about my RB's.

WR - Calvin Johnson - 40

WR - Greg Jennings - 32

WR - Chris Henry - 12

WR - Pierre Garcon - 3

WR - David Clowney - 2

WR - Mario Manningham - 2

WR - Josh Cribbs - 1

I wanted alot of WR's, I ended up changing my WR's alot, the bye weeks were scaring me. I wanted Eddie Royal but ended up changing it around because originally I had to many people off on week 5, I believe.

TE - Dustin Keller - 12

TE - Jermichael Finley - 3

TE - Chris Baker - 1

I think Keller is going to catch a ton of passes this year!

PK - Rob Bironas - 3

PK - Phil Dawson - 1

TD - Baltimore Ravens - 6

TD - San Diego Chargers - 5

I wanted good defenses this year, not the $1 defenses.

The simulator has me at #1277, not bad!

I like my WRs, but I need my QBs to stay healthy and get some production out of my RBs to have a chance.

I think week 5 is going to be very interesting. I hear a lot of people with bye problems that week saying they're not worried because it's early and not that many people get eliminated that week. The problem with that logic is week 5 is not as early as it seems. By the time we get there 45% of the entries will already have been eliminated and another 16% of the remaining will be out that week. I predict that a lot of teams that are among the points leaders through week 4 but have 4-5 key players out that week will be among the gonners.

Really depends on how "key" they guys are to your success, and if you have appropriate measures in place to cover their absence. 84% of remaining teams will still advance (still making it a relatively easy week, with one of the lower cut scores of the year assuming typical scoring), so you really have to have a bad week to get cut. Given that guys like Rodgers, Grant, Jennings, and the GB D are so popular, a lot of teams will be down that week for that reason anyway. I've got Rodgers, Grant, NO Def, V. Jackson, and Meachem off that week. It is in fact my biggest bye week of the year. Jackson and Meachem are the only paired positional byes for the week, and I still have 7 other WR's still going, including R. White and Ochocinco. Aside from only having Leftwich as a backup at QB, I feel pretty good about my survival chances for week 5 right now. I will also have over 1/3 of my team byes (including most of my high $ players) over at that point, so I like how that bodes for future weeks also.

Hoping to last longer than Week 5 this year!

I've been thinking the same thing. Lots of teams with Rodgers, Grant, Jennings and then some more with Colston and Gould included with that crowd. Yes, week 5 should be very interesting.By the way just checked Doug D's latest simulation list and my team jumped from 1443 to 62. Team# 109633 in case anyone is interested. I understand that this doesn't mean or guarantee anything, but its a good feeling to have, a couple of years ago I made it into the Top 40 but I sure as heck would love to advance farther this year.Good luck to all.edited for spelling

I understand that but with nearly half the entries gone already that's about the time it changes from eliminating the bad teams (sorry 16 QB guy) to eliminating the teams that have a bad week. Myself, I have Rodgers, Grant, Colston, Meachem, Gould and the GB defense out that week but I have two other good QB's (Schaub and Stafford), two other kickers two good TE's which could count as the flex and five other decent RB's. A lot of teams I see are not nearly that well covered. The team I wanted to submit also included Vincent Jackson and Sprowles but I made a last minute switch to Desean Jackson and Norwood just for this reason. Maybe that was a mistake but we'll see.

I have to say the $26 he spent on the remaining team was pretty well spent.James Davis $2 0.00

Edgerrin James $1 0.00

Percy Harvin $5 0.00

Chris Baker $1 0.00

well at least he drafted enough at each position to make it a valid entry. Who knows maybe everybody BUT his starters gets injured and Mr quarterback dude wins it all. Mr 16 qb dude, we salute you !!! :lmao:
He's taking a guaranteed 0 at flex every week. But then again, 14 kicker guy did the same thing last year and he lasted to week 10 or something. :excited:

Interestingly, the cuts values pretty much only rise based on 2 major predictable factors, more players playing (i.e. no bye weeks or reduced teams on bye weeks), and a higher % getting cut in a given week. I don't have hard data available right now, but in the few years the contest has been run in this format, the deeper we get, the cuts stay pretty consistent relative to the score assigned to %advance across weeks with a common player pool. The first couple of weeks do cull the "lame" for the most part, but after that it's pretty stable.

WOOHOO! Go Kenny Britt

Um, though I'd kinda not like to see Bironas prove the value of having 3 kickers so early in the season :pickle:

Gage + Britt for $10 is looking like a good hedge on my part so far. We'll see once Washington returns to full strength though...

In at #452, but I like my squad if A-Rod is the real deal. Won't separate you from most teams but will keep you in the ballgame. I think if you don't have Mason, Gage and Harvin on your team this season, it could be a big mistake.

This coming from a non-parker owner who thought he was a great value.

 good work.Is there a 14, 15, or 16 kicker guy?-QG

Also I wonder what the lowest $ entry was? Guess theoretically there could be a $23 guy out there somewhere.-QG
I think they should run a low score contest. That would take a lot of bad luck (in this case good luck) to win.
That would be cool - though it should have the wrinkle that that none of the scores can be zero (and perhaps a penalty for each 0 that must be used). It's one thing to pick Plaxico, it's quite another to pick 1 catch for 4 yards guy.

I'm ranked at #1030... not too shabby.

Also had the Britt/Parker combo. So good, but yet so bad. Hopefully Grant and TJones can make deliver.

How do you run the simulator? It keeps showing my team as #1 and I know that's not possible. Thks..

For us Willie Parker owners, if he was going to have a bad week, the best week for him to have it is Week 1. There are no byes and should be a number of poorly constructed teams to knock out Week 1. The only slight worry is that there actually are teams to knock out Week 1!

How are you guys finding where your team is ranked, are you seriously going through every one and checking your number? I tried that for a little while and my eyes started seeing dots

I'm curious how many of last year's week 1 casualties were teams that put all their QB eggs in the Brady basket. Willie Parker having a bad week isn't like AP having a bad week. Parker's cost left plenty of room to mitigate risk while AP owners and the like had more trouble constructing teams to allow such down weeks.

I love Felix Jones and Leon Washington in this format. I wouldn't want to guess which weeks to put them in my lineup, but in a best ball format, I think they could be huge.

I do too, and in fact, those were the 2 "most expensive" RBs on my roster. I spent most of my money on elite WRs (Randy, Calvin, Colston) and 3 really good TEs. For me to have any chance, both of those backs need to play well.
