***Official Texas Rangers 2011 Thread*** (2 Viewers)

Dear Kins,

Please please understand that you are hitting the ball out if the park because you are not TRYING to hit the ball out of the park. Maintain this swing. Think like a golfer. Harder does not mean better.

Love your friend and brother,

Bogart

While all the home runs are going to make SportsCenter tonight, I'm more excited and impressed with the work Matty H did on the mound today.

If you would have told me that in a three game series the bullpen barely breaks a sweat, I would take it. The sweep is just icing on the cake.

Agree. If he'd shave that awful chinbeard, I'd be a huge fan. Lots of live arms on the staff. Excited to see what Ogando and my boy Holland have against Seattle.

Awesome weekend. I made it out to opening day and it was a great atmosphere.

Let's hope we can get some consistency out if our starting rotation and use the bullpen lightly. This lineup has to be any pitchers nightmare.

I'd really love to see us make a run after Joakim Soria. Let him be the 8th inning guy this year and then move him to closer next year with Feliz in the rotation. I'm not sure what it would cost to get him though. Probably a gaggle of prospects. It would be nice to unload Bourbon on them and get Murphy playing everyday... But if have an injury in outfield we'd be hurting. Anything involving Young and Royals would have to include a 3rd team, because I don't see any way MY ok's a trade there. Maybe Davis can keep mashing in AAA and juice up his trade value.

I'm interested to see the attendance tonight more than anything. Payroll can't go up much more if there continues to be no demand for spring weeknight baseball. I know 1.5MM tickets have been sold and paid for already, but there's always the problem of actually getting people to show up.

Maybe acquire Hanley to be a utility man while Andrus plays short this year too?

Well the difference is we need an 8th inning guy this year and a closer for next with the organization basically saying Feliz will move to rotation next year. Soria has a couple team option years coming up. The Royals have a great pipeline of prospects right now and could benefit from adding a couple more for a year or two from now.

Newberg tweeted they're expecting 35,000 tonight. Hopefully the CJ v King Felix matchup will make for a good draw Wednesday afternoon.

I have a feeling we will be 5-1 tomorrow evening. I hope I'm wrong.
It's a marathon, not a sprint. We have only covered 8/10ths of the first mile. The loss will come eventually. But King Felix never scares me. I dint know why, but I always feel we can win the games he pitches.

So 161-1? I can live with that.

Would that make this the greatest Ranger team ever?

Does Felix hate being a Mariner yet??

Happy to be wrong on this one. Beltre is awesome. As soon as Hamilton, Beltre and Young start hitting these guys will be unreal.

So do we start to worry about the fact that the red sox sweep may not be that big a deal? I mean we know the Seattle sweep is nothing.

You can only play the team in front of you. I still think Boston is much, much better than their start. And the key to winning this division is going to be beating up on Seattle more than OAK and LAAAAAAA do. So yeah, we did our job there. But you faced Lester and Felix, none of the games were fluke wins, hell, most of them were not even close.Pitching is clicking once through the rotation, hitting is insane right now. YT is the weakest spot in the lineup, there is nowhere for the pitcher to rest. This defense is going to be one of the top defenses in baseball if not THE best. Even the bench gives me baseball wood.I temper myself by saying, you should win at home. But winning at home means taking 2 of 3 and winning series. Going 6 for 6 is sending an early message.

Sweeps are difficult against certified bad teams. The goal right now is to get to 95 or whatever the number is wins and get in the tournament. Remember last year, the Rangers really did not have a great record against good teams and had about 6 weeks outstanding baseball the rest were .500ish. In the end, the only statements games/series are in the playoffs.

And then there was 1. Cincinnati falls today leaving the Rangers the only team left underrated. Let's keep this mo on the road trip.

I forgot all about that little slice of life. Thanks for reposting.
:goodposting: to all.Is there a Deadspin story that accompanied douchey Yankee guy? I dont remember the exact circumstances surrounding this gem and wanted to remind myself.Lobster claw.

Grant seems to think the game is unlikely to be played tonight for weather. May just be able to squeeze in a few innings.

Chris Davis with two three 400+ foot home runs for Round Rock tonight.

What in the hell do the Rangers do with him??

Who in the hell does Matt Harrison think he is?

I don't remember him hitting this high on the radar gun and staying there, ever.

4- straight day games coming up. Hopefully Josh doesn't stink it up now that's he's got his avg back over 300.
