2. Is there any way to "auto take all", I'm tired of having to do that every time.
When you move your crosshairs over the body and you see its name, hit the spacebar. Then when the "contents" of the corpse come up, you can just click on individual items to take, rather than hitting "take all."Of the columns that show the item properties (if that makes any sense) the one with the feather icon shows the item's weight.

You know how to drop stuff, right?

I figured out you can drag stuff off the inventory into the screen. Occassionally when I do that, things "hang" on my crosshairs. What am I doing wrong?

Keep the thread going guys - it is definitely interesting and i can't wait to play it :popcorn:

Shift + Left Click will drop an item.

Gracias.

BTW - I found this really rare root in the waterfront district and was sent on a quest and am now on the other side of the continent looking for more to create an uber-potion for buffing. I still need to finish clearing out the bandit/zombie dungeon, too. lol
Where the heck is the bandit/zombie dungeon? I started on the quest to deliver the dragon stone and am now on my way to Kvatch.
Right as you exit the sewers/prison, you see the lake/river. Cross it to the ruins and away you go.

I cleared out the sewers and am in town selling some stuff, trying to decide if I want to fork out the dough for a steel long sword. Is there an archery shop in town? I've seen some people selling arrows but I haven't seen a bow other than the rusty iron bow I picked up in the sewers.

Iron bow can be found on bandits in the dungeon across the river - don't waste the gold on one that you can get off of a bandit. Wait on the sword, too - there are some nice claymores in that dungeon, as well.

Where do you go to get different spells and spell upgrades? I made what amounts to warrior with restoration. But I just have the the little baby starting heal. Found a shop in the main city that sells some spells but not the healing line.

Really enjoying the game. Have mainly hit the main quest line and a few dungeons. About time to hit some of the guild quests and the arena. So many different things to do in this game and so little time. And Blazing Angels gets here either today or tomorrow.

The mage guild will give you access to new spells, as well as the ability to create your own new spells. Other than that, there are various places that sell spells. It could be that you need to get restoration from temples.

Im assuming you can join more then one guild? I know that some spells are "required by the law of the land" to be available to all and not just mage guild members. I think there are specific people to go to for specific things like this(I know there are for buying skill training(which I havent even delved into yet)).

Will have to try it out and see. I was on the way to join the fighters guild at a location that offered Blade/Blunt skill training and got sidetracked by dungeons and the main quest line. Main piece of advice I have for those getting started, is to not use the auto travel option unless its to go somewhere you have already traveled to by foot/horse several times before. I auto traveled the first couple of levels and started riding eveywhere instead and man there are a ton of dungeons/points of interest you uncover by "taking the long way".

Do you get the horse right off the bat when you start the main quest line? I was waiting a bit on that, but I think I read you get a horse right away, which might make it a good idea to do sooner than later.

Depends on how you do the main quest line. There is a way to get it very early, but I missed it. If you miss it, you get it a couple of steps deeper into the quest line.

did anyone here buy the 360 version?

I am torn between both the 360 version and the PC version.

TIA
What is your PC setup - CPU, RAM and video card?That will give me the answer. The great thing with the 360 is you have the hardware to run it great. If you have the hardware on your PC, though, get the PC, since you will be able to get the countless mods available online in the next months. This one was made even more mod-friendly than other TES games, and that is saying something.

I thought I read in the manual that you could do ALL the guilds and progress through them all.

Interesting - that would be a departure from previous games, I thought, but I could be wrong.

2.4 GHZ Pent 4128 MB ATI All-In-Wonder

1 GB CORSAIR XMS RAM (the good stuff :banned: )

Thinking about upgrading my processor to a 3.2 or 3.4 pent 4 in the very near future.

What model of the ATI AIW? 9600? 9800? Pro? Either way, it will be pushing it. On regular resolutions, I would imagine you will have OK framerates, but won't be able to push the AA much over 2X if that, and HDR and Bloom effects are out the window. However, that 9800 Pro AIW might surprise you.

My 9600 is barely cutting it. I have to go with 640x480 and I'm still getting flicker with my sword. The game moves smoothly, but I'm missing out.I'm going to have to look for a better AGP card that won't break me. I don't have the coin to go new Motherboard and new PCI-Express card.

Holy System Requirements, Batman!

http://www.oblivionportal.com/info/systemreq.php

Better bring it with your hardware:

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion System Requirements

Recommended:

* 3 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor

* 1 GB System RAM

* ATI X800 series, Nvidia GeForce 6800 series, or higher video card

Minimum System Requirements:

* Windows XP

* 512MB System RAM

* 2 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor

* 128MB Direct3D compatible video card

* and DirectX 9.0 compatible driver;

* 8x DVD-ROM drive

* 4.6 GB free hard disk space

* DirectX 9.0c (included)

* DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card

* Keyboard, Mouse

Supported Video Card Chipsets:

* ATI X1900 series

* ATI X1800 series

* ATI X1600 series

* ATI X1300 series

* ATI X850 series

* ATI x800 series

* ATI x700 series

* ATI x600 series

* ATI Radeon 9800 series

* ATI Radeon 9700 series

* ATI Radeon 9600 series

* ATI Radeon 9500 series

* NVIDIA GeForce 7800 series

* NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series

* NVIDIA GeForce 6600 series

* NVIDIA GeForce 6200 series

* NVIDIA GeForce FX series
Bump. The 9800 series is higher than 8 of those other cards listed above. Of all of them, I would say that the NVidia 6600, 6800, 7800 and ATI X800, X850, X1600, X1800 and X1900 should run it all very well. Possibly the 9800 Pro/XT, but not sure. You can add in the newer NVidia 7600 and 7900 that will run the game fine.As I said earlier, my X850XT card runs it fine at highest settings.

Nice. Does that include selling the old video card on eBay? We should be able to get $40-50 for that. Does that give us $250, then? :) If so, why not pick up that PCI-express X850XT up top for $154 with MIR and a PCIe mobo for $60-70? That would be awesome there. That is the best bang for the buck on the market PERIOD.

If you don't want to do that, then I would do something like this:

For those of those of you with NVidia cards they released some drivers yesterday with tweaking specifically for Oblivion. They gave me another 5-8 FPS.

Im on my way to newegg.com right now to look for a new processor :nerd:
Don't forget to factor in selling your CPU on eBay. Seriously, you would be surprised how much people pay for even crap. I have a used 1.1 GHz Celeron right now that will close today for a little more than $20. $20 for crap. Wow. A decent CPU will easily fetch 80% of newegg value on eBay, maybe even more.

Changing a video card I can probably sell to Mrs. Foos. Replacing motherboard and video card not so much.I plan to do an overhaul in another year or two, so this would just be an interim card until then.

Also, I've also never sold anything on Ebay before so I wouldn't have the first clue about how to do it.

Haven't tested it, but it has not slowed down at all and it at 4X AA, 1024X768 with bloom effects on. Very smooth, and that is with an AMD 64 3200+ CPU. I have become a serious ATI fanboy since I got burned yet again by NVidia recently.

Budget? :excited:
No more than $200, and don't tell Mrs. Foos.

Changing a video card I can probably sell to Mrs. Foos. Replacing motherboard and video card not so much.I plan to do an overhaul in another year or two, so this would just be an interim card until then.

Also, I've also never sold anything on Ebay before so I wouldn't have the first clue about how to do it.
Then that X800 GTO would do a lot better than the current one.

Wow, so my PC is just barely in the recommended. Wow. I have:

Athlon 64 3200

2GB Ram

ATI X800GTO

I dropped AA down a little bit to speed the game up. at 6x my mouse was tracking a little slow but I didn't see any problems with the graphics otherwise.

So, are you dropping from the BF2 ranks now, Mr. Productivity When you Work at Home? ;) Edit to say that video card is the only thing barely recommended. The CPU of yours is equivalent to a P4 3.2.

These quests are incredible - a huge variety of investigation, action and such. I am in Skingard and there is some sort of conspiracy thing going on with a crazy dude. Very entertaining.

Will have to try it out and see.  I was on the way to join the fighters guild at a location that offered Blade/Blunt skill training and got sidetracked by dungeons and the main quest line.
I thought I read in the manual that you could do ALL the guilds and progress through them all.
Interesting - that would be a departure from previous games, I thought, but I could be wrong.
:confused: In Morrowind you could join all the guilds.

did anyone here buy the 360 version?

I am torn between both the 360 version and the PC version.

TIA
What is your PC setup - CPU, RAM and video card?That will give me the answer. The great thing with the 360 is you have the hardware to run it great. If you have the hardware on your PC, though, get the PC, since you will be able to get the countless mods available online in the next months. This one was made even more mod-friendly than other TES games, and that is saying something.

I'm in the same boat with you on the 9600 (I've got the XT). To make matters worse, I'm finding out that my MOBO chipset (it's an ASUS A7V880) has a pretty well-documented history of conflict with those cards. I'm locking up every few minutes and eventually having to reboot.So... rather than shelling out for a whole new system, I'm going to try to salvage my CPU (AMD XP 2700+ Thoroughbred), RAM (1GB of PC3200) and video card (the 9600XT) and try a new MOBO. Hopefully I'll have better luck with the EPoX EP-8RDA6+ Pro.

She won't scream by any stretch of the imagination, but hopefully it can get the job done.

So on the way from the sewers to the priory where I found Jauffre, was I supposed to do anything? I did fight some bandits at a campsite and went into a cave to fight some more, but ultimately I just high taield it to Jauffre. Now I'm off in search of the emporer's lost son. Should I be doing other things prior to this, I don't want to get father in the story than I am strong enough for.

I'm a level 2 scout.
