***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Hopefully this will be a lesson to all other survivors. If you want to kill someone, dont use a tiny pair of scissors to stab someone wearing body armor in the shoulder.

yeah, my only emotional connection to beth was the future 3 way with her, Maggie and Rosita. now they'll have to use the lesbo
Tara
tara is a sleeper. they make her look baggy/frumpy in this show but I bet if they cleaned her up, put her in lingerie with some slutty makeup she'd give Maggie a run
WOAH!
yeah she's so ugly

What I'd give to not see Hyde every time I look at her :(

In a small space like a hospital hallway with a dozen or so people, 2 gunshots and no one besides the targets get hit. No idea how Dawn could get shot like that at close range and no one behind her got hit.

just joining the nitpick club for a moment...
Noah was in the most danger of a stray bullet there.

Just watched that scene again and love the "oh ####" faces after Beth is shot. Especially Sasha's. :o

I really need to catch up with some of you when it comes to complaints about this show.

I'm still back on "If the main threat from a walker is being bit by him, then why are they still using hand-held knives instead of spears?"

count me in the camp that doesn't know what Beth was hoping to accomplish. "hey, we're right in the middle of an armed standoff, watch me stab this chick in the upper boob with tiny scissors!" at least go for the neck, n00b. and I kinda liked Christine Woods...I think I'll miss her more than Beth. still, it was pretty emotional seeing the others' reactions.

not that it matters, my take on the situation at the hospital is that the cycle will continue. the female cop seems to have taken the lead, but the other cop with her had a little more dooshy attitude. I expect there will always be a power struggle there as people continually "lose their way". so Rick was right...it wasn't any better than being out on their own.

These are hillbillies, not hittites.

Hello, exactly. A 3-foot piece of rebar with one end sharpened would be perfect. Just make some sort of grip/handle for the dull end and you'd be good to go. Bashing and stabbing.

Speaking of which...did anybody else catch Glen GRABBING a walker's face so he could stab it last night? :lmao:

Did I miss something or in the end bonus Morgan scene, when he walks up to and into the church, aren't the front steps there for him to enter the church? The same front steps that the Abraham driven firetruck demolished?

I might be alone but I thought her with scissors in hand just before Carol was wheeled in was a suicide mission (and I think she was going for the doctor, not Dawn), and that this was too. She wanted out and figured might as well take a bad guy out with her? She's like Taylor Swift except that it's life that she keeps breaking up with

Might explain why even the thought of seeing her sister again didn't stop her from trying to save Noah or the whole hospital or whoever. I keep trying to imagine what I'd be thinking if my brother was somewhere out there and I'm not buying the "they're moving at too fast a pace to worry about that, they'll get killed if they stop to wonder".

Speaking of Beth, what did she suddenly understand at the end?

Because when there are multiple walkers, a spear would be harder to stab, then pull out, then stab again. Also nowhere near as good at close range.

Moving on to next complaint?

Who knows what she was doing. But at that point she doesnt even know if Maggie is alive or not since Maggie was not there.

I got that, but still. I guess it's one of those 'you wouldn't know til you've been there' things, but I think I'd need to know he was dead, or at least have more than a couple weeks go by before he became an afterthought.

Andrea - won't kill the Governor when given a no-risk chance.

Beth - tries to kill Don which could end up getting everyone she knows killed.

If only it were possible to carry more than one weapon.

When it comes to skull crushing power, nothing beats a mace. Without a helmet, skulls don't stand a chance.

From Deadliest Warrior:

  • For short-range weapons, the war hawk was tested against the mace, the tests being performed on a ballistics gel skull flanked by two synthetic bone skulls, one of which had a pressure sensor attached to the crown.
  • The war hawk delivered death blows to all three skulls in 32 seconds, piercing into the brainpans with a force of roughly 300 psi, while also stabbing upwards through the gel skull's cheekbone and into the lower portion of the brain, tearing off the top half of the skull. However, the war hawk was stuck for several seconds in the second bone skull and had to be shaken off before moving on to the ballistics skull.
  • The iron flanged mace completely shattered all three skulls in 16 seconds, with a force of over 300 psi; Max Geiger claimed that the mace left a skull more unidentifiable than a shot from a 1 ounce slug, while Dr. Armand Dorian claimed that the torque of the strike meant that even a helmeted opponent would be killed due to a broken neck. The edge was given to the iron flanged mace for its tremendous killing power.
If you can master it:

The morningstar (flail) proved to be a fast and deadly short-range weapon when it shattered a dummy skull. An initial swing struck the top of a ballistic gel's torso's skull with the morningstar's chain, shattering the left cheekbone and the jaw. A second strike broke the spinal cord and a third completely shattered the skull, removing all brain matter from the brainpan. The morningstar was registered at 1300 psi—over 17 times the amount of force needed to fracture a human skull.
For comparison: For explosive weapons, the C4 was tested against the Semtex. In the first round of testing, the C4 destroyed a boat along with the two targets that were on it while a Semtex-laced cellphone killed its target without harming four nearby bystanders. In the second round of testing, 1 lb of each explosive was detonated in two separate wooden outhouses with the C4 generating ~270 psi and the Semtex generating ~324psi.

A mace would be great, but you do need a little more swinging room to use it and I have to imagine that it would really suck to carry one of them around on a daily basis. But they would absolutely crush some skulls with a vengeance and make for some good tv splatter.

Watched The Talking Dead. I'd take care of Beth. Seems like a genuine person. Her and Maggie would be epic.

Preacher is still with the group. Other than Noah, I don't think any others went with the group.

The gay character Kirkman mentioned, is that person a villain, friend, love interest to someone?

Did we see Eugene walking around or in the truck only? Not zombified right?

Question I don't think any of us have the slightest answer to, even the comic readers, is where to next?
I think the comic readers have a pretty good idea where things go from here. There have been clues (Talking Dead, interviews) that they are introducing a fairly prominent comic character soon, that leads into the next arc in the comics. And follows right in line with where the show is right now compared to the comics. Specifically trying not to spoil anything here, just saying, if you've read the comics, and watch Talking Dead, you very likely know where the group is heading next. I'm pretty excited to see where things progress from here.

The "how" is the crux of the show, and why comic readers can continue to enjoy the show. Just because you know the general route doesn't mean you can't enjoy the journey, and the detail the show brings each episode. Not to mention the interaction between characters, which is so much more expressive than comic panels allow.

The only logical way to settle this is to put both of them in bikinis and have them wrestle.

Anyone got any connections at AMC who can make this happen? We have a few months to kill before the show comes back.
Kirkman said he has it in the actors contracts he can make them kiss anyone he wants...just sayin'

Spears are hard to wield, particularly in tight quarters which they often find themselves in. Hard to dislodge to prep for the next walker (if it's stuck, they still have to pull the walker close to push it off the tip). Harder to make.

Don't get me wrong, it should be among their weapons, and short spears (like the length of the Katana) would be pretty good. I think swords are probably just about perfect, like the Katana (any similar length sword would work though).

Was already mentioned, but the, "You can't go back, Bob" line was a great tie back. Also, the scenario being flipped on Gabriel was kind of cool. He found himself begging for others to let him into the church in order to be saved from walkers. He got the mercy that he didn't give others, people he knew (in his congregation).

Side note: Dawn looks a little Maggie Gyllenhaal-esque to me.

He said it like it was a big deal, but I didn't get the significance of a new gay character when there's already one on the show.

A mace doesn't have to be long to inflict tremendous damage - most are ~24" - and shouldn't be heavy. It's a great up close weapon for crushing skulls. Certainly needs less room than Michonne's katana.

This guy talks about how it's not as good of a weapon as swords against human targets (due to swords being better at causing bleeding), but against a zombie to destroy their brain I don't think there's a better melee weapon.

Ideally I would go with a studded mace, not the flanged one you normally see, and made of titanium (nearly half the weight of steel).

They didnt get to the store that has those readily available yet

Its most likely a gay character named Jesus. Its going to piss some folks off.
