***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Good god, that actor playing the doctor SUCKS. I doubt I've seen worse.Seriously? Dale's 'surprised' that they didn't find a stash of antibiotics in the few cars they looked through? Oh, don't worry, redneck has a stash, he just never thought it'd be a good idea to mention it before, even when one of the group had a 7 inch rusty car slash on his arm.The commercials really kill me. Even on DVR. Seems like 4-5 minutes of story and then 4-5 minutes of commercial. I also still had lipsync issues. Anyone else having technical issues with the sound? It wasn't as bad as last week for me, I was able to correct it with the receiver better, but when I turn to other channels with that correction in place, they were all off. Usually the receiver adjusts it automatically and I don't have a problem. So, I'll probably finish out the first half of this season, but it's on life support for me. I jammed through season 1 in 2 days so I didn't really have time to notice how much it deteriorated (though the Vatos episode was obviously terrible). BSG went through a terrible stretch in season 2, and I doubt I would've stuck with it if I hadn't been playing catch up, so I'm trying to keep an open (well, actually closed) mind and give it a chance. It's just disappointing to find a show and then lose it.
C'mon, Dale wasn't actually surprised just his way of deflecting that he had been hoarding meds. He never really considered himself part of the group so why would he want to share his stash? It clear that he now considers himself a member and probably the leader. It will be interesting when he meets up with his brother again.
Dale is the old man, I don't recall anything about him hoarding meds. He said he was surprised that they didn't find anything when he was alone on the highway with T-Bone. Merle's brother is Daryl. Not sure that enough happened to make him think he's a member from the time T-Bone was hurt to when he offered up the bag of meds.
Yeah, I meant Daryl. He needed a catalyst in order to decide to share the meds and T-Bone about to die was a pretty good one.
I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with you on that one. No one survives in a post apocalyptic world without antibiotics and T-bone had a huge injury. Now all of a sudden he not only didn't realize they were needed in the first place, but he gives up the recreational drugs as well as painkillers as well? A pretty big, lazy cheat imo.

Let me get this straight:

We have a TV series about zombies, and people are trying to pick apart the finer logistics of the plot.

You guys are great!

With respect to the not boarded up windows thing, they seemed to be pushing the "we are skeptical that it's as bad as everyone thinks" angle with this farm family. So they may not feel the need to take the same types of precautions the father and his son did back in the city. Then again, it's not like the Atlanta survivors were taking a lot of precautions when they were just chilling out in the woods and got invaded by zombies. They are underestimating their opponent right now. That should stop in time, although I hate the assumption in these things that no one has ever seen or heard of the concept of zombies before it actually happens.

Once you knock out the zombies around your secluded area you are pretty safe
So why are there stray walkers just wandering through the woods not more than a couple of miles from the house?
Who's to say they don't kill a wandering zombie every now and then. The had the chick watching with binoculars. And they do have a wide open spread with no trees. So they'd see a walker coming from quite a distance. Kill it quite and back to home. They haven't mentioned it in this series, but other zombie movies have talked about zombies retaining some memories and going to places they knew. Perhaps a farm off the beaten path is the perfect place to be.
Oh, sorry. I forgot the zombie rules.
Actually, as loony as Froglova seems to be, that post makes sense. Also, I believe season 1 did show that peeps go back to their old haunts, right? Didn't dude and his kid that helped out Rick have to whack their moms because she kept coming to the door?
 So what about the hundreds of zombies wandering down Highway 23 or whatever? Were they all remembering back when they worked for GDOT?
Hasn't it already been established that there are different types of zombies? Those that wander and those that sit and wait. Is it that hard to believe that a herd of zombies wandering around might take to the freeway? Especially after the noise the hog made coming down the freeway in that episode? We don't have the full details on the farm yet, but they have a clear view of everything approaching. They obviously have scouted a bunch of areas because they knew the school was over run before. We know they are keeping look out with binoculars. We know they have horses and cars. We know they hunt deer. We know they've been attacked and lost friends and family.

It's poor planning on the part of the farm people not to have boarded up everything. But maybe they have a storm cellar they go to if a herd passes by. They'd certainly see a herd coming from a long distance off.

I believe this came after T-Dog's rant about rednecks and good ole boys, so may there was some purpose to that.

What show ere you watching? We get a bunch of new characters. We are dealing with the boy being shot and fighting for his life.We are dealing with T-Bone getting sick from the infection in his arm - he has antibiotics now but still now a closed case.We are now watching two character running for their life around a high school.

XJust because the premise of a story asks the view/reader to suspend their beliefs doesn't mean that all bets are off. Why not have Rick shoot lasers from his fingers then? Maybe give one the characters the ability to fly and crap grenades?

Perhaps it's a cheat, but Daryl is not exactly a medical expert who knew that T-Dog was going to need the meds to live. Or maybe he didn't really care until he saw that he was really sick. I just don't think it's that much of a stretch that a guy would start losing his grip on his hatred after the entire world has been destroyed.

Boy fighting for his life? Doc says he's out of danger... oh, but except for the lifesaving surgery he needsT-Bone was sick, but he's better now. It's like a sitcom re-setting itself back to normal at the end of every episodeOne of those characters should've been zombie food a long time ago. No way he can outrun any zombie for more than 30 seconds. I agree, not much really happened and what did happen was highly implausible.Forgot to add, Lori #####ing about him being a vet. Are you fracking serious?! You going to go out and get a second opinion? Or have someone else do the surgery? I understand being upset about your son, but in case you haven't been paying attention to current events, but you're getting your asses kicked!

IIRC, one of the zombie rules states that if a zombie "sees" another zombie walking somewhere in a purposeful manner, they will "assume" that the zombie is aware of prey and going after it, so they will then follow. Even if it turns out that there isn't any prey (or it got away) they will still stay together. This is how the herds are created.
As an side, I'm starting to wonder if they are going to use T-Bone to demonstrate that someone can die without being bitten and still turn into a zombie.

The kid was shot and T-Bone was cut last episode. We will see them running around the school in the next episode. We got 3 minutes of a zombie scene in the parking lot. We are basically at the same point we were at the end of the last episode, except the kid is in a bed. Outside of introducing a few new characters, nothing happened.

I'm really having a hard time finding anyone to root for on this show.
Root for the zombies
I'm about to.Look, I applaud the creators for trying to make the show more than a horror/thriller/zombie movie. They're trying to develop the characters and make them multi-dimensional. It's just that the writing is so clunky and awkward. I almost can't blame the actors. It's the dialogue.

I suggest not watching this on a weekly basis if you aren't satisfied with what is happening week to week.

I buy it enough to enjoy the show so far. Would like to see that farm house boarded up though. Just seems prudent regardless of zombie behavior.

The relationships between characters are brutal though. The cop and his deputy man-loving each other is just uncomfortable to watch. Dialogue and acting is terrible. But the zombies make up for all these probs.

Also, walking dead my ###. They haul ###.

Why wouldn't there be?
The fact that there are zombies roaming through the nearby woods shoots holes in your theory that by getting rid of the zombies in "your secluded area" that you are now safe.

Rule#1 Cardio

As soon as the Doc's daughter in the orange tank top bent over to start working on the kid, I thought "Well, there's two new reasons to keep watching this show."
I thought she wasn't wearing a bra until that.
Was the best and worst part of last nights show.

Sorry Walt, you got 5 people living in Utopia surrounded by herds of zombies but they are good? Not buying it. The meandering band of idiots can't park on a freaking highway without having to hide from the wandering herd of death. Anytime one of them goes in the woods to take a piss 5 zombies show up out of the trees. And then you have the great white hunter, tons-of-fun, out stealthily tracking bambi in the woods and he doesn't draw any attention? Popping off a rifle? Just didn't ring true to me to see the Walton's hanging out waiting for the cure.

:shrug:I think the pacing has been good week to week, except for this past episode. I was just curious how people thought it was a great when not much really happened. Probably the worst episode of the series, imo.

The zombies aren't the Walking Dead.

In fairness, this show is pretty stupid even by the standards of the genre. I'm enjoying this season more than the first, but that's because it's moved into so-bad-that-its-good territory. The first season went for lots of character development and failed horribly due to poor writing, but so far this season has dispensed with any pretense of seriousness and seems to have embraced its inner sense of camp.

Now I am mad that I deleted the episode after watching it. I didnt notice the chicks rack and I want to see what all the fuss is about. Cant find any screencaps. Anyone got any?

Hershel has his own way if dealing with the zombies.
Michonne> Hershel and it's not close.
Couldn't agree more. From Ive read, she will be introduced this season. I also think Merle would be a great Governor.
Can I make a request that, like the Game of Thrones thread, book spoilers be put in spoiler tags please? I don't like to use spoilers for anything that's been shown on TV, and if you read ahead of your viewing then you're SOL. But since this is a TV series thread, can we limit the open discussion to what's happened that only TV viewers know about?

I heard the same too, but there is not a literal translation from the (paper) series, so I'm thinking season 3. Her character cannot be any more badashh if they tried, sooooo looking forward to seeing her on screen.

As has been discussed before, any show or story, no matter how realistically implausible, still needs to operate within the "rules" that are set within that world. It's a basic tenet of storytelling. Doesn't surprise me who the people are who make statements like this.
You mean like dead people walking around eating live people? The people who are making statements like this are enjoying the show for entertainment value and not for essays on the finer points of boarding up houses or picking apart the show based which weapons are most desirable in the event of a zombie attack.

Still, the entertainment value in this thread by people who take this so show so seriously is well worth it. I do love your being offended by someone having the temerity to question the seriousness of the discussion - which doesn't surprise me, BTW

Well, since dead people walking around eating people is part of the world within the show, yes that falls under the "rules" set within that world. Sorry to disappoint you, but I wasn't offended. I just find it typical of you to try and make yourself feel superior at the same time as showing that you have no idea what you're talking about.

Why can't a show be entertaining AND well written/crafted?

Why can't a show be entertaining AND well written/crafted?
Why can't Hollywood make a movie that isn't super hero based? Because creativity went out the door a long time ago.

That's not a very good answer. I just checked the listings for my local multiplex and not one of the movies playing there is superhero based.

Why can't a show be entertaining AND well written/crafted?
Why can't Hollywood make a movie that isn't super hero based? Because creativity went out the door a long time ago.
That's not a very good answer. I just checked the listings for my local multiplex and not one of the movies playing there is superhero based.
wait 10 seconds and refresh the page. I think a remake of spiderman is due again. This time with Ashton Kutcher playing the role of the goblin.

Let me get this straight:

We have a TV series about zombies, and people are trying to pick apart the finer logistics of the plot.

FWIW Superhero movies suck IMO. Even the so-called "good ones". There are some very fatal errors that every writer in the superhero genre (in the comix and films) make that are completely avoidable yet they still do it.
