I would have done the same thing as Shane. You get the guy who is responsible in all of this who is overweight and plus in a bind could use him to divert zombies in a pinch. Plus you'll know he'll do anything for you as well given that he was racked with grief. Well played by Shane.
:goodposting: I'm sure Shane had the Otisbait idea in the back of his mind even before they arrived at the school. But Shane twisting his ankle, and thus making him as slow as Otisbait, forced him to do what he did.

Shark move?

Rick can't act, Lori can't act, and some of the dialogue is awful. even still, the last 5 minutes was  for me, so I'm still entertained.
:goodposting: I was  when they were having their very serious discussion about whether Carl should live or die. It felt forced and emotionless
If I had to pinpoint the biggest problem with Rick it's that he's a British guy trying to put on a Southern accent. He's actually a good actor but I think it's the accent that makes his dialogue seemed stilted.

To the first, what he did is completely wrong no matter what in a pre zombie world. In their current world, yes it's still wrong. But it's a bit of a gray area. My issue with what he did isn't because he shot Otis in order to get away. Forgiveable? Maybe, maybe not. It's wounding him that makes it a completely immoral and irreedemable act. Any argument that it was the most expedient way of dealing with it goes out the window since he had to struggle for the backpack. And any idea that it doesn't matter how he did it goes out the window because the whole scene was revealed while he was hiding evidence of the struggle, which he wouldn't have if he'd killed Otis outright. Shane's guilt is infinitely higher because of how he did it, even in zombie world. You can still be practical while being humane, and we're seeing evidence with others of them keeping to humane methods. That's my point, not that Shane shouldn't have killed him, but that Shane crossed a my h bigger line by only wounding him and letting him get eaten alive.
Shane always has been a scumbag on the show, this is just a little more of that. The shocking moment wasn't that Shane shot Otis - most of us were probably expecting him to - it was wounding him and beating the #### out of him before letting the zombies eat him alive. I think Shane has been living under the delusion that he's a good guy like Rick but now he's finally starting to see himself for what he is.

My biggest problem with shooting Otis is why didn't Otis turn around and shoot him back? They both had one bullet and its not like he took the gun from Otis immediately. They were wrestling around for a while.

I think he tried. You hear a second gun go off when they are wrestling, if i'm not mistaken. I erased it, so I can't check. Can anyone confirm?

I believe that's what happened.

I think it goes off once Shane grabs it and makes sure to point it away. Just seemed like they struggled for a while before that.

Mental note to self:During the Zombie Apocalypse, never volunteer to forage for supplies alone with Walton Goggins and SacramentoBob...

It's either you or both of us.

Couple of thoughts on tonight's episode.

Dumb in the well, why not use a calf?

Very nice Glen got some  . but I think Maggie knew who the guy in the well was.

Jeeez Daryl, I almost  during your speech

And was that Meryl in the preview?

Excellent episode in every way.

When Daryl saw the blanket in the bottom of the kitchen closet, I thought he was going to find Sophia in the house. Why didn't he stay in the house that night and wait for her to return.

BUT I saw next week preview and think that Meryl has her.

Other thoughts.

So the geek gets the hottest girl on the show - YES there is hope for us.

There is something in the barn.

Maybe there's a bunch of infected family members chained up in the barn. And Doc is gonna start feeding the gang to 'em. That would be awesome.

He didn't even mention it, which seemed odd.
I don't think he wanted to get her hopes up. Maybe Sophia did stay there, but he didn't find her and if she wasn't there it means it may not have been safe and she left. If she was still there she would have been there. I don't think there was any food or water, so she may have already left.

Yeah Maggie acted like she knew who was in the well.
That was my reaction too. I think it's safe to assume there are other secrets going on there which is probably why Hershel wants all of them to leave as soon as possible.
:goodposting: Agree with all except Bob. I don't think Merle is working with Herchel, but I do think there are secrets. I do think that the water hole dude was a family member. I think it all goes back to Herchel saying to them at the beginning that he didn't think the zombie thing was a big deal. One last thing I thought was interesting was that there were no zombies in the pharmacy area. Does anyone think Herchel and his crew cleansed the town? Not thinking he killed any living people or maybe they did to make sure they got rid of anyone that might be infected. Not completely sure, but definitely something going on.

Slight spoiler from the source material:
There is something going but I don't think the guy in the well was a family member. There is probably a zombie family member around though which is why Maggie reacted the way she did.

I think he left knowing that he wasn't going to find her that day because she moved on but wanted to go back and let her mom know he was going to find her. Also, if he didn't come back that would have worried her mom even more. While I'm bored with this Sophia side-story, it serves two purposes - to show Daryl as more than a racist dude and allow the Farm story to move along slower.

Anyone else think this was the best written episode so far? Much darker in tone than the other ones have been so I'm hoping this is the turning point.

There was something to that zombie in the well. Why would a zombie break into a well? The boards were broken. Clearly, he was put there by someone. Something has to be in the barn. Daryl made mention that his "other" plans didn't work out. I'm thinking Meryl returning is going to change things quite a bit. The pregnancy is going to really change things. And will the asian kid want to leave the farm now? I wouldn't.

I thought that the fat zombie just fell through the boards. If they were hiding a zombie down in the well I don't think they would have told them that they were free to get water from that well.

Potentially, but the chick looked like she knew the zombie. She didn't have any problems killing zombies up close a few episodes ago, and they have like 5 wells to choose from.

I think Hershel has friends and family in the barn, and is working on a "cure". That's why when Shane raised the question of what to do re: if Sophia was infected, Hershel shot Maggie a #### look.

Or WOULD they?

My points/thoughts.

1. The whole no gun thing on the farm makes ridiculously no sense. Them agreeing to it seems silly.

2. Still no explanation about how they keep the zombies off the farm.

3. Nobody even asked a question about the zombie in the well and sending the kid down there was just insanely out of the realm of possibility.

4. That farm is no longer "yours" pops. Its basically anarchy and the group has the guns. You cannot make them leave.

5. The dialogue is still beyond putrid.

I am really thinking of giving this one more week.

He wasnt that good, the girl wasnt impressed with him. She is probably moving on to Shane now.

The gun things makes since if the family has loved ones tied up around the property, and do not want the

visitors to shoot on sight.

2. Still no explanation about how they keep the zombies off the farm.

A remote farm a ways off the highway would not get much traffic.

3. Nobody even asked a question about the zombie in the well and sending the kid down there was just insanely out of the realm of possibility.

Kind of dumb but they could not just leave it there and let it contaminate the water supply.

4. That farm is no longer "yours" pops. Its basically anarchy and the group has the guns. You cannot make them leave.

So after he saves your sons life you are going to turn around then demand that you let your group stay.

5. The dialogue is still beyond putrid.

Disagree - this weeks episode it was actually good.

I am really thinking of giving this one more week.

I think Shane and the blonde hook up soon. She's getting into him.

There was one zombie in it. No.
:lmao: I'm all for character development and dramatic dialogue but I like my zombie shows a little more zombified. Even my 19 year old son, who loves this show, said "aw crap...are they going to talk AGAIN!??"
