The chase through the maze thing is interesting. Why not just surround them and force them to lower their weapons at the grill, the same way they did at the fence line? Then just take them wherever they want them to go. Is it just for sport or is there another meaning?

That's the kind of stuff I'm questioning Jayrock. The way they're handling this makes little sense.

I think they wanted to trust them. But when Rick went ballistic, they had a plan in place on how to deal with any type of situation like that.

Sorry if I missed these if they were answered. But a few questions i don't understand:

I reckon they had guns pointed at them from a short distance in case they raised their weapons. Daryl had a crossbow, Michonne a sword, Rick and Carl both had hand guns. Not sure why they didn't just arrest them for coming in the back entrance, but it's possible that they did want to trust them because they could always use more people (enforcers?).

If Rick's group was going to rob and/or kill they would have done so before laying down their weapons in the first place. Giving them back was a low risk way to show good faith, build trust and get them to the grill.

The Terminus folks didn't want to arouse suspicions in their next meal. Didn't Rick and company kill a couple during their freakout/chase? I think the Terminus folks wanted to get the cattle to the car nice and polite like, when that didn't work, they were prepared to herd more aggressively.

Some of you are complaining about Rick's last words but the Terminus guy talking to the group before getting them in the car missed a great line. As they were lined up he should have said to them all:

"It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again."

That would have been the perfect ending to this season with a quiet reunion in the car.

An idea would be the group on a boat in a storm and the only port has a bunch of zombies on it. Do you stay out there and try to ride it out? Try to dock? So you have that scene and build a season where they head to the coast, build a new life fishing and staying off land, and then things go bad when a hurricane hits.

Yes. Why else did they do that? Just to start them shooting? If they only wanted to herd them then they bring out twenty snipers on the roof and disarm them. They put on the stuff to elicit a reaction, maybe just to see if they were connected to the group they just caught. Unless they are just wackos who like to torture people it was a test of some sort. We don't know what or why yet.

Really? You guys actually think the simplest explanation is that every single one of the people in the courtyard with Mary had a single item from the previous group because they liked it? They have this whole place laid out with snipers at every corner and paths laid out to get to a trap location with people waiting at the fence with guns and you guys think the watch, bag and riot gear was unplanned. C'mon, let's get real. It was a test of some sort, they either knew they would react to it (friends of Maggie and crew) or not react to it (not friends of them). When Maggie and those guys went in the front door and no one was in the courtyard. Rick and team sneaked in (or so they thought) and suddenly there are random people, each of which has an item from Maggie's crew and you guys think that was happenstance? No way were those items selected randomly and those people milling around for no reason. As far as I can tell, Terminus folks are extremely organized. Sorry, but the simplest explanation is that they wanted Rick and crew to notice those items and see how they reacted. Feel free to bump in the Fall, but I would say there is 5% that was by accident. Do you guys think the people with guns on the other side of the fence where Rick's crew ran just happened to be walking around outside and then ran up to the fence to see what was going on?

ETA: I bumped it to 5% from 0%. I could be wrong, but if so, that would be silly. This place is so guarded and setup for the trap when Rick and crew were there for minutes, that I don't think anything they do hasn't already been prepped. They shot Alex in the head and started the rat trap based on a hand signal from Gareth, starting with the snipers already on every roof top along the way. To think that they would have been rifling through stuff in the "entrance" IMHO is ridiculous.

They have never went that in depth. Doubt it had any further meaning

Well, I am a little embarrassed for some posters in here. We have 295 pages of bashing the unimaginative boring ####ty writers. Then in one episode they pull off the super creative subterfuge secret test plan on one of their own guys and a big ole pile of bloody human bones is a ploy.

Who wrote that episode? Did they hire new staff?

Unless the staff comic book writers were magically replaced with Agatha Christie, Rick snuck into a cannibal camp and used his cop sense to determine it was a trap and got trapped anyway.

Any thoughts on the random guy just a bit outside Terminus being an exile or escapee from there? He has no real weapons and looked like he had no clue on how to deal with a zombie at all, which is inconceivable for someone this far into the zombie apocalypse.

No sense of direction either. He could've ran away from them but just stood their screaming and turning in circles. Maybe he was blind because Terminus ate his eyeballs.

Did you see their army near or on the other side of the fence before the group went into the car? The perimeter is secure with feet on the ground. I bet a zombie doesn't come within a 100 yards of that complex with those patrols.

I read a theory, I think earlier in this thread, that they used to take people in to not-eat them, but then some of the new people tried to takeover, which resulted in bloodshed. Terminus felt he wasn't pure enough since he went blind or he got caught stealing and they blinded him somehow, took him out into the field, made some noise to attract walkers, and then left him

To add onto the theory.. After getting attacked previously by outsiders( like Woodbury and the prison were), they decided to make outsiders think it is a safe sanctuary( thus the reason you saw no guards when everyone arrived, and all were welcome so as to not get attacked..

Get them inside and get their guard down and take control. Some they end up welcoming into the group, others who question authority, as all of those at the Prison would do, are put aside to decide their fate.

I like the sea/harbor idea. They could build a story line around that, but I think there have been some good moments this season. Much of it was giving us more back story on characters and I'm ok with that.

I also think the "Grove" was the best episode of the season and perhaps even the whole series. And it didn't have that many zombies in it. I hope there are more episodes like that next season.

They weren't camped out there. They were part of the snare. They probably went there as soon as they knew Rick's team was there (either they saw them before the fence or once they got inside and the trap got setup). Same with the extra guys with guns in the courtyard grill. When Rick saw the items on Alex and the 3 others, there was only Mary and one other dude (who may have had something on, but we didn't see Rick take not of it. As soon as Rick grabbed Alex, Gareth came up behind them and a few more guys with guns popped out of the buildings. The snipers got the rabbit going through the correct path and the people outside the fence were the "snare" that caught the rabbit. At that point, our rabbit crew had to give up and go into the rail car.

Yes. I don't know much about writing fiction but I'd guess this is part of how they do things. Come up with the big moments and then figure out out to get there. I'm sure some moments come about the other way as they fall into them along the story. But what you're saying makes sense. Seems like most web sites say around a day. Not sure of the backup systems and how long things can run with no supervision. I would think that some local power companies could keep things going for a bit, but if they got overrun or everybody bailed then not long at all. That said, it really depends on the source of the power (coal, wind, solar, nuclear) and how long those sources are up. Could vary widely depending on region.

I wonder if Rick noticed that Mary looks a heck of a lot like the chick that played the mom in Pet Sematary. Maybe she caused the zombie apocalypse by helping save that stupid cat.

I'm sure that was the first thing he noticed.

Especially since Mary has long brown hair and is pregnant and the mom has short blond hair and is not pregnant. I'll rank the seasons like this:

1- great intro, shouldve been more CDC stuff IMO

2- Sophia episode, met Herschel & Maggie!, Shane vs Rick, Dale finally killed

4- End of season 4a was epic, kids killed, terminus, Abraham's group

3- Governor suckitude, horrible finale, prison Zzzzzz, Lori death!

4b great indivudual eps, with a few duds (Glen in the tunnel), weakish overall arc

2b Dale Dies, Rick kills shane

3a Woodbury introduced, michonne introduced, Governor introduced

3b Woodbury showndown fizzles...pointless andrea drama and death

4a stupid virus plot, Gov returns,= and showdown, Carol starts to turn badass

2a Rick loses Sofia to 1 walker...glen is used as zombie bait..Dale is at his most annoying, despite the slowdown, character development is just not there...

I agree with about 4a, terrible outside of the showdown.

2a had Shane killing Otis/going crazy, the group trying to figure out Hershel and find a way to stay on the farm and Sphia in the barn. I'd put it ahead of all of season 3 and 4a.

I could be completely off on this one. I could have sworn someone mentioned that earlier and I think I noticed she looked like she could be and just assumed that.

I just finally saw the last episode and skipped the last 12 pages. Didn't feel like catching up. All I can say is, I feel this has Woodbury all over it. I like stuff about zombies, not the stuff about group versus group. I hated the Woodbury thing, and this is going to be just like it I fear. A whole season stuck in one location. Bleck.
