I seem to recall there being more walkers around the van in the final shot of the episode but definitely could be wrong. Still think they should've shown how he got out of there given how the set-up was clearly to make it seem like all hope was lost. I would've accepted all of the walkers getting behind the van and pushing it to Alexandria. At least that would've been an explanation.

And yes, given how much Gimple likes to play with time distortion we could revisit that scene again. I hope we do in order to provide an explanation. So I will consider this lazy writing with the caveat that I'm free to change my mind should the scene be revisited at a later date.

What's bizarre is Z Nation has a smaller budget, actors of lesser overall talent, and a production crew seen as a walking joke ( Asylum), yet consistently makes a much more entertaining zombie show with a clearer overall focus. Walking Dead reaching it's full potential died the day Frank Darabont lost his power struggle with Robert Kirkman. Although Darabont has to eat some of the blame here for his casting. Andrew Lincoln is just horrible.

Oh come on. Lincoln has been good as Rick Grimes. And Z Nation sucks. To each his own. The show doesn't have quite the following as TWD. Sorry if that sticks in some folks' craw.

Z-Nation is a much better zombie show than TWD. It isn't even close been saying that from the start TWD need to fire their writers and hire Zs, they would make a truly great zombie show, with TWD budget. A lot of time I find myself fast forwarding threw TWD because it is so poorly written. Z-Nation has its flaws but I can overlook it with the budget that they have. The writing is still top notch compared to TWD.

What did you mean by this comment below? Seems like you said top notch writing. If you call it top notch compared to one of the top rated shows on TV, you are calling it top notch writing. Why would anyone ever watch a show who's writing is comically bad? Makes no sense to me, but if you want to waste your time, feel free.

They can be more than a little long in the tooth with the main plot deviations. Certainly could've done with out a whole hour (or 10 minutes for that matter) of bo staff guy's back story. Or every other new character that we're supposed to care about.

i love both, and think it is good cause both are significantly different. not sure if Fear the walking dead will give us some overkill, but Znation is a much more "fun" show.

I was trying to figure out Ron's play with the scene with Rick. I think a good possibility is that Rick shows Ron how to defend himself, and the whole plan is to shoot Carl, and he shoots his eye out. i am probably 30-40 issues behind, but i think it is significant enough to want to include

Just finished this past episode. Man....I'm rooting for the Walkers and Wolves over these Alexandria jabronis. They just want it more. Those two mooks trying to raid the market looked like they gained weight since the dead started walking.

Why has no one made a plate armor suit yet? A group of medieval knights would make short work of zombies with almost no risk.

Noone's thought of checking basements of houses for D&D nerds.

That would be money if they ran across a group of D&D nerds in full on plate mail killing zombies like it was an adventure.

It appears the vulnerable spots would be the shoulders ( where TDog was grabbed and bitten), the lower leg/ankle area ( where Herschel was bitten) and in the forearm area ( World War Z probably covers this better) Mountain climbers use leg "gaiters" to protect their lower legs. Can't see why that can't be used against zombies. Some type of leather forearm bracers might be useful. ( If a zombie is trying to bite you, I'd say a lot of people instinctively would try to use their forearm to shield the rest of their body) Rigging some type of shoulder guards might help too. Wouldn't be a full suit of armor, but it would cover some of the more typical bite areas and still offer reduced weight/utility.

I don't see the purpose of having hair though. Just shave it all off. Easier to keep clean, esp when you are on the road a lot and esp if you are suffering from heat from Atlanta. Also zombies can't grab it and drag you down. Essentially you want to tie down or rig down anything that could be grabbed to drag you down.

Bicycles offer silent mobility and the option to carry more gear.

You might fare well during the zombie apocalypse in 2023 providing you are in good health by then.

Asylum tends to ride on the "parody" angle with a lot of their films. There is a lot of tongue in cheek and they embrace that they are making super fast "bad movies"

I don't think they originally intended on making a very good show, I think they took a simple Walking Dead concept ( Eugene having a "solution" and needing to be escorted safely across the country) and then soft ripping it with the Murphy character. Along the way though, the show shed it's C list actors and ended up with it's D and E list actors who could just concentrate on making a fun show.

IMHO, the level of effects, even with a small budget, have improved dramatically. I think the pacing and writing and character construction have all gotten better as well.

One of the open criticisms of TWD is it's essentially nihilistic in nature. There is no overall series long arc to hold onto thus it's just rinse and repeat on larger and larger scales. ( i.e. it was a camp - Not Safe, then a farm - Not Safe, then a prison - Not Safe, then a place at the end of the railroad - Not Safe, then a band of survivors at a hospital - Not Safe, and now Alexandria - which is, surprise - Not Safe. )

ZNation isn't perfect, but the caliber of guest stars has grown, it's budget, while still small, looks a little bigger, and the stories they are telling fit hand in hand with their limitations. The structure is much more like the book World War Z, where individual stories dominate. As Murphy and the ZNation gang move across the country, they run into different elements of survival and the human condition. The episode where an all female colony ( run by Kelly McGillis no less) sends out preteen boys to walk to their deaths was actually a pretty interesting social question/issue for a dystopian world.

Personally, I think ZNation does far more with what they are given to start with than TWD does, but I also think it was all by accident. It started off as a typical Asylum parody, but with real time to make a show and using that ability to produce fast, they hit on something interesting here. I will say ZNation probably hits on more of the themes that George Romero started with in terms of the "zombie".

So Patty was a gas truck. On talking dead they brought up, why did they go to the fenced in area if Patty was hidden in the woods. My guess is there were 2 gas trucks, since the one Daryl finds has the license plate Patty02 or something like that. I forget how many 0's it had.

My guess is Glenn is still alive and they use the gas truck and RPG to save him.

It was a weird start that they did not show Wade, but the comic nerds will have a lot to add to this since Wade is a comic leader. Agree that ultimately Wade appears to have taken something (either the truck, or something in the duffle- insulin or otherwise not yet shown)... but that, and the fact that a group of guys plowed into the forest with a truck trying to surround Wade and friends made me think they were chasing him. Also the ambush scene, I figured, was set up for Wade. Didn't seem a stretch to think they're after them.

so Wade is comic book character. ok. motiviations ultimately didn't make much sense to me in the episode- unless everything the guy said was a lie... which is entirely possible given the moto-jacking. At this point- it's pretty obvious that there's safety in numbers in the ZA- vs zombies and humans. so people riding off into the sunset when they've been saved by somebody who could've left them to rot... and who says he has a community... doesn't make any sense to me. but I guess I'll get to see what the writers have in store. expectations are pretty low.

I thought the kidnapping of Daryl, his trying to figure out the group that had him and most everything that followed for that story arc was well done..

Didn't really care for them taking Daryl's Cycle and crossbow after he saved them.. But then again, after their experience with the other group, their lack of trust is understandable.

I could have done without the possible Abraham love story arc.. Too many stupid things going on in that arc..

But overall, unlike the Morgan episode and last weeks episode I never found myself

I thought the Morgan episode was great. These last two have been slow going.

I did like how once again Rick was proven right. This time by telling Daryl they don't need to be recruiting anymore. Daryl thinks they should and it bites him in the ###.

I get the sense they're setting things up for a big payoff to come. I don't have a problem with that and when we look back at this season as a whole these last two episodes may work better within that context. But as far as individual episodes themselves neither did anything for me. I did a lot of clock watching last night which I hardly ever do on this show.
