***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (6 Viewers)

I think I would prefer to end the Rick's group storyline.   The saviors are a lot more interesting
I used to think posts like this were just schtick. But now, honestly, this is where I'm at too. Most the stuff for Rick's group is straight up soap opera garbage. Touch-feely crap. Seriously, who tunes in to a series featuring zombies for Days of Our Lives? The Savior's dynamic is WAY more interesting.

After each of Rick's plans fail ... and he loses his assets, camp, and more of his people die ... I wish Shane killed him way back when.

What a better story it would be to watch Shane and his band of bad azses (and hot horn pout ladies) ... take on the likes of "the governor" and now Negan.

Lot's of "Hope" that the new show runner will change the show back into good, rather then meh... But still have some concerns since the new show runner has been part of the show for years.... But, reading an article this quote from Gimple helps me think things are going to change for the better:

Also, this episode isn’t just like these 15 episodes coming to a conclusion, but Angela and myself and the writers had always talked about this in many ways being sort of the conclusion of the first eight seasons. This show will be very much a new show next year and with a bigger, new narrative.
new is good, bigger is not imo.  This show has made a steady decline over the years as the characters, locations and story lines got so big they were bloated.

Agree. Even though I'd like to see society rebuild and what that means, this production team isn't up to it. The writers were at their best dealing with small survival moments (look at the flowers). They are horrible navigating these bigger group story lines.

I agree, if they are going to go this route at least show Maggie or michone naked.

I'm with you 1000000% here.  I get that the writers don't want multiple robots in specific roles that never change, and they're trying to show growth, change, development, etc. with all of them but it's just been executed horribly.  Rick was the normal family man, not wanting to kill strangers unless they posed immediate violent threat, then he's hallucinating and talking to dead phones to Lori's ghost, then ripping throats out, then a pacifist farmer, then quivering crybaby once Negan arrives, then sullen rage-maniac, on and on.  Every episode Morgan is liable to either kill anything that moves, or talk to nonsensical ghosts, or decide he can't harm anyone at all.  Daryl's character has gone downhill bigtime since the search and rescue of Beth, when he got lit on moonshine and bawled and mumbled about his terrible past.  One minute he's the awesome badass, next minute he's bungling simple tasks.  I miss Shane bad.  He was a constant, we knew what he was, and he didn't bend just because the wind blew one day.

It's not character development, it's waffling (on the writer's part) on who these characters are.  At this point, I've found multiple reasons to dislike every single one of them, so I'm no longer on their side as far as the storyline goes.  At least if the Saviors wipe them out and win the war I'll be looking forward to what they do next. At the current progression, the war is going to end with Rick and Co. further depleted of redcoats, but still intact as far as the main group, and it's going to be more of the same.

So, with the Finale, and the Premiere of FTWD being shown in select theaters Sunday night, starting about 30 minutes before the show starts on TV...

Anyone else concerned about Spoilers showing up all over the internet Sunday?

Might need to "stay offline" Sunday night until it is over.....  :oldunsure:
I rarely watch the DVR'd show before Thursday. It hasn't been hard at all to avoid spoilers. I just stay out of this thread TBH. Most headlines avoid names. They may throw out "Fans sad at loss of character." But they don't usually say anything like "Fans bummed by Simon'd death."

Uhhh... There'll be a bunch of eye rolling cringey terribly written moments and Ricky will destroy another society.

Or do you need that spoilered?
 I assume there will be a lot losses and would rather not know ahead of time who dies.. Only safe ones, IMO, are Rick, Michonne and the Baby.. Maggie is still unsigned for next year.. :oldunsure:

Oddly enough, three characters I could easily do without. Michonne's been nothing but background scenery for whiny soap opera scenes all season long.

Well this is it. Finally the war. Better not leave a stupid cliffhanger like with Glenn. They need to end the negan storyline and move on completely

Just saw the Negan dude in Rampage. Played the EXACT same character in the movie as he does on the show. I think his range is somewhat limited (as in, one character).

I'm finally watching FTWD's last season that I never finished. One simple scene where the guy rummages through the dead army folk to grab all their weapons made me happy. I know it was only a few seconds, but I really do like this show better. It isn't the best, but at least it's not as bad as TWD is now. Everything on TWD is just so unbelievable and silly now. When Rick bit that guy's throat out, it wasn't some pivotal scene in a multiple season long battle, but damn it was an amazing episode. I miss those. As posted above, it wasn't the bigger narratives that have carried the show for what we liked. Beth dying wasn't a big narrative and a huge battle, but it was great TV. Now, I feel like Negan has a clone army with unlimited weapons (pretty sure the handful of people in Eugene's shop aren't making enough ammo). It just never stops, Rick appeared to kill every outpost there was and now it's almost like no one died.

How sad is it that FTWD is more believable and better than the original? And that wife on that show is more like Shane than Rick is.

My prediction is Rick gets Negan in a position where he decides to let Negan live or die. ...and just when it seems like hes going to let Negan live. ..Maggie walks over and kills Negan for what he did to Glenn.

This is my last show tonight. The silliness has run its course. I have zero faith that the franchise can be turned around.

Maggie? I've lost track of the names.

I would be more interested in a whacked version of corals dream, with Rick and negan trying to coexist...but it's a tough write.

You don't think these writers would have ruined that premise?

Oh for Christ's sake.  Two seasons of build up for "The War" and it ends as soon as it begins because of backfiring bullets?  No one dies and the worst of the worst are allowed to live, because....hey!...we're all better people now!  And that garbage broad that double-crossed us?  She can come too!  We could use a good trash sculptor!

No ####. Couldn't have been more anti-climactic than that.

Also, Maggie at the end turning into the Governor? WTF, seriously? Does she not have a baby as well or are we just ignoring that fact? Also, Jesus explains to Morgan that he shouldn't kill people, but then he has a Cheshire Cat sized grin after Maggie says that Rick and Michone are going to pay. Daryl lets Dwight go, but he's going to go after Rick for putting Negan in prison? I'm so effing tired of the wishy washy people. I mean it's one thing if they change their mind over a season, but in the same damn show?

Too bad AMC is penny pinching at this moment. How awesome would it have been to see Rick and his crew duck down after shooting a bunch and try to bring the walkers up to kill Negan's crew. If they are going to make a cheap as show then get it back to just a small set of people and make it a better story.

If that ending was their setup for the new bigger narrative, I'm 100% out.

And the big cliffhanger is the Maggie group forced double cross?
That was terrible and horribly acted/written. I honestly felt like I was watching Dr. Evil explaining his plan to his henchman. Both Jesus and Daryl let people survive in the same episode but now they are all about doing something about Rick and Michonne? I'm happy that was the cliffhanger because right now, I will keep watching FTWD and not even bother with this show. I care so little about the characters we used to love. Remember Daryl with Beth and that hospital where she died and Daryl killed that cop instantly. That Daryl doesn't exist anymore.

man, i honestly thought the episode before the finale was a good episode, best in a long time. But this finale was  :X . not even sure where to start...

so those frustated with this show (i'm guessing 90% of the thread), Fear the Walking Dead is worth it. 1 hour episode tonight and care more about the 2 new people they introduced then most of anybody on the Walking Dead. the writing is just better it seems, and even the little things that are kind of goofy, are minor and easy to overlook because the other stuff is good.

Yes, Fear was great. Better writing, much better character interaction, and better action scenes. The re-booted FTWD looks promising.

TWD is just a mess. They really messed up this war with Negan and dragged it out beyond belief. It was such an anti-climatic war. Let me correct myself, having this story over is climatic.

Once again, Rick goofs up with his weapon. Who doesn't bring extra bullets to the final showdown? Then he runs straight at Negan. Somehow Negan survives a throat slash? Um, ok.

Not only did Morgan run (Rick, you can hide, but you can't run. Wut?), he ran to a better show.
