*OFFICIAL* W12 MNF Game Thread: Steelers @ Colts (1 Viewer)

Okay, I've got a question that's been bothering me for years. With all the audibling that Manning does, why are the Colts never called for a false start?Watched the Giant game ysterday (not a giants fan) and they were called repeatedly for flinching. Yet game after game the colts have lineman with head bobbing, moving body around, to hear Manning call the play. Now you might say that "he's not under center when he steps back to audible."Well, they do it whether he steps back or not. He does half of it under center.Further, some of his verbal stuff and hand waving is just for show. And the audible is really just part of the snap count anyway. How long do the lineman have to come set before the hike? Are the officials dropping the ball here?I don't see any other team getting this type of latitude. What gives?

Marvel Smith - Arizona State Alum   It's a shame he won't be able to play more in this game. Good player.

I hear a very large contingent of Steeler fans.

Pretty loud "duuuce" after that carry.
PIT has more than a few "serious" fans who don't mind travelling to IND for the game. I must admit Colts D SO FAR looks better than I expected, esp. against the run. Sort of surprised PIT isn't trying Bettis more though.

I know that the Colts have been playing very good on D this year and the Steelers also have a good D, but did anyone expect a hat-laying game like this? These guys are really laying the licks to each other. :football:
:hey: Check the "10 reasons the Steelers will beat the Colts" thread

Harrison running back punts? Interesting.
"Stupid" is more like it.Nice patience by EJ on that run btw. However, if they can't sign him, I don't think it will be as big of a loss as many seem to....which differs from what I was saying earlier in the year. Sure he's having a great year and it'd be great to re-sign him if reasonably possible, but I really question if he's good enough to be worth the $$.

I agree ... tire there guys out early for the likes of FWP and Duce in the second half

Peyton is talking about redoing his contract to make room for Edge and Wayne

...against weak offenses. Talk to me after the game.
I'll agree they haven't played the cream of the offensive crop, but holding opponents to 152 points thru 10 games is pretty good. That is only 2nd to the Chicago freakin' Bears. So I'd say the D has played pretty good.

Manning is - once again - getting carried away with all his friggin hand signals and God-knows-what. Sometimes I swear it's like he has OCD or something - just HIKE the freakin ball!

9 11/7 @ New England Patriots 40 - 21

10 11/13 HOUSTON TEXANS 31 - 17

THe Steeler defense is definitely confusing Manning!
When Ds start throwing him a lot of looks, it's like a cat n mouse game - that is when of ALL times he should just go up and hike it.

What a total BS call - that was an incidental face mask, WTF w/15 yds on that? GDB handing PIT a FG or better mebbe.

Like I said, I agree they haven't played the best NFL offenses, but last time I checked all these teams play in the NFL. So to say that they haven't played good D is ridiculous.

Houston and Cleveland are in the NFL?

Madden and Michaels apparently unaware of this new call I've been seeing a lot of -- 15 yards when a defender takes a blocker out by diving at his knees. After the break, Michaels will probably have been spoken to by NFL head of officiating and offer an explanation.

I never said they were not good. I said they were over rated. When they play good Offensive teams there stats are more like the previous years. No doubt the have improved a lot.

All things considered the Steelers are lucky to only be down 16-7. This game is defeinitely within reach. The offensive has to start getting some first downs and scoring.

To take the defensive analysis one step further, the highlighted teams are ranked 14th or better offensively in PPG.

1 9/11 @ Baltimore Ravens 24 - 7

2 9/18 JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS 10 - 3

3 9/25 CLEVELAND BROWNS 13 - 6

11 11/20 @ Cincinnati Bengals 45-37

So they allow an average of 28.7 points a game to defenses in the top 14.

That's VERY average, if that.

You could see Peyton saying "hash" after that quick throw to Harrison. I can't remember why, but isn't it harder for right-footed kickers to kick FG's from the right hash vs the left?
