I guess this is up for dispute? Some docs saying he needs surgery but others don't agree?Shane Ray might require surgery on his toe and be out five months (speculation).

I think the Redskins can get a 7th round pick at best for Cousins at this point. Earlier in the offseason, Bruce Allen said he received no call about Cousins. It was reported that last year, Cleveland offered a 4th round pick for Cousins and the Redskins turned it down. Did Cousins do anything to raise his trade value in the last year?QB/Cousins trade? - Another team is going to want Cousins as a backup maybe for a 4th/5th rounder. He's far better than many other backups out there. It probably isn't smart to move him for personnel reasons, but I think it's smart to move him for the mindset of RG3 and even the coaches.
So if Gruden/Griffin is not successful in 2015, does that mean Gruden is gone next year?McCloughan just announced in his pre-draft presser that RG3's option is going to be picked up for 2016
The 2016 option is only guaranteed for injury. Griffin can be cut if he doesn't play well.So if Gruden/Griffin is not successful in 2015, does that mean Gruden is gone next year?McCloughan just announced in his pre-draft presser that RG3's option is going to be picked up for 2016
Probably depends on how successful the team is. But i think if rg3 is given his shot, which it seems he will get, and he is unsuccessful, then might as well let Gruden go and let McCloughan build his team starting with his HC.So if Gruden/Griffin is not successful in 2015, does that mean Gruden is gone next year?McCloughan just announced in his pre-draft presser that RG3's option is going to be picked up for 2016
Gotcha. Thanks for the info. The 2016 option is only guaranteed for injury. And I believe the injury would have to keep him out of the whole 2016 seasonGotcha. Thanks for the info. The 2016 option is only guaranteed for injury. If QB play is similar to last year I expect Gruden to be gone.So if Gruden/Griffin is not successful in 2015, does that mean Gruden is gone next year?McCloughan just announced in his pre-draft presser that RG3's option is going to be picked up for 2016
I don't think picking up Griffin's option has anything to do with Gruden. If QB play is similar to last year I expect Gruden to be gone.So if Gruden/Griffin is not successful in 2015, does that mean Gruden is gone next year?McCloughan just announced in his pre-draft presser that RG3's option is going to be picked up for 2016
I don't the the option has much if anything to do with Gruden either. I was just responding to the poster who asked if Gruden would be around after 2015. I think Gruden's fate is completely tied into improved QB play. All the QB's looked like garbage the more they played last year. If that's the case again he's done at the end of the year.Marvelous said:I don't think picking up Griffin's option has anything to do with Gruden.thayman said:If QB play is similar to last year I expect Gruden to be gone.dhockster said:So if Gruden/Griffin is not successful in 2015, does that mean Gruden is gone next year?MattFancy said:McCloughan just announced in his pre-draft presser that RG3's option is going to be picked up for 2016
On the option, it is not clear to me when it become guaranteed. For instance, if Griffin blows out his knee in week 2 and has a 10-12 month recovery, he could easily be available for week 1 of 2016. If the guarantee does not kick in, the Redskin are not on the hook for much. My guess is that is Griffin is consistently playing poorly by week 8, he will get benched and they will not risk a major injury with him.
As far as Gruden is concerned, it looks like he is getting a mulligan. He turned over almost the entire defensive coaching staff and hired a QB coach. Presumably, these are the coaches he wants. If the team falters like it did last year, or the QBs all play as bad as they did last year, his job could be in serious jeopardy. I think he needs one QB to step up and develop. But is does not necessarily be Griffin.
Definitely going to be on a short leash now.Marvelous said:On the option, it is not clear to me when it become guaranteed. womenEvery year there are posts about how terrible a draft is because they did not draft a certain position in the later rounds.Just a reminder to everyone that the plan for the draft is BPA. We all know that's how McCloughan operates and it shouldn't be a surprise. Please don't freak out if you think they didn't fill certain needs. We already know that's a possibility.
TIA
Same here. Guess I'd add a RB would piss me off too, and wouldn't be too happy with a WR, but ok with that. Just no QB or RB and I'll trust the decision. Fowler or trade down would be my hope.Lot of chatter about teams trying to trade up to #5. Who knows if that will happen or not.
The only way I wouldn't be happy tonight is if they take Mariota
This is what we've wanted for years. In Scot we trust!Once again, the exact opposite of the Redskin way of doing things.Just a reminder to everyone that the plan for the draft is BPA. I'd like that. But I think Cooper and Williams are going to be awesome. Tough to pass on one of them.cmon scott!!!
eta: i really hope we can trade down and acquire more picks.
yea i heard the giants were keen on him. They took the best O-lineman in the draft and OL is a need. Who knows if they could have traded down and got him...doubtful though.
hes a big strong guy with great character but will get abused if they play him at RT, williams falls and we pass on him for a running game guard at 5th overall?!? those 1v1 in a phone booth guys are a dime a dozen in the mid rounds. did you see the jets war room smiling and laughing their asses off?Im happy with the pick. Dont know a ton about him, but i know we need OL and he looks good and versatile!
Allowed a LOT of QB sacks and hits, no?Guard or tackle, I'm pretty much indifferent. If he fills the void that has existed on the right side of this offensive line for a couple years, ill be satisfied. It continues the trend of Scot focusing on the trenches, which is wonderful thing. Not sexy, but practical.
Gotta believe he's starting RT day 1.Scherff is a great player at a less valuable position.
Excellent value with the 5 pick overall. Starting RT.according to gruden Scherff will start out at Right tackle.
Meh, on this team it's tough to complain too much on a Oline pick.Excellent value with the 5 pick overall. Starting RT.according to gruden Scherff will start out at Right tackle.
