I would never tell anyone to draft or not draft a player, but if I were analyzing JuJu, there is enough about the situation to cause me not to question drafting him. His ADP is currently WR10. However, as we already discussed,
- People are looking at what he did WITH Brown drawing coverage (166 targets!
111-1426-7).
- Folks are ignoring that was in a season when Ben threw 675 passes and that total could easily be 10-20% lower.
- Ben is 38, oft-injured, out of shape, and coming off elbow surgery. We saw what happened when he wasn't in the lineup last season.
- The defense should be strong and the running game much better than last year . . . so there should be less incentive to just air the ball out all game.
- They added a TE that should be featured more than the guys they had last year.
So my concern for drafting JuJu is he will cost you a dollar but may only give you a return of 80-90 cents. The yearend WR10 typically is in the
80-1200-8 range. He might be around that for total receptions, but I think he falls a little short in the other two categories. Even though he had a season already better than that, I don't think his upside is as high as that season for all the reasons I just mentioned.
That being said, he'll probably go out and put up 7-140-2 against the Giants this week.
