I want to think that and then I realize all those guys at Trump rallies aren't actors. Well, they haven't been after the first few anyway.

Not close to the case. There are plenty of avenues to spread his message. Disrespecting the National Anthem and those who fought for our freedoms is not one of them.

He has every right to his protests, the forum he chose is just wrong.
Of course we've down this road before, brother...

But people fought and died to be sure that we live in a country where we are free to NOT stand during the anthem.   They did not fight and die for a piece of cloth and a song.

A country where we can criticize the government and not be called unAmerican.

Ummm no, he's a selfish POS bc he hasn't been a leader for the franchise that has paid him over $1M per TD. He hasn't been a leader to the teammates around him. Instead he's caused tension in a locker room. You could go back to the football argument (roll eyes, etc.), but when you make $15M a year, there are different standards.

This is a guy who has and has had the means to make huge differences for lots of causes, yet unlike many of his peers, he's been invisible.

But now that he's sitting down for National Anthem, people like you and others in here are rushing to his defense.
I love this qualifier schtick you have for deciding who can protest and who can't.

We should have a draft.

Sounds like the OP is more worried about him being un49eran. Because football.

Funny. After watching every Democrat run city crumble into race chaos, it's still OTHER people that are racists.  Maybe we need to have a national dialog on who the racists really are.

The best part about this is most of us who have followed him and concluded that he's a selfish piece of garbage (well before this) now watch the super libs rally around him like he's a hero bc he sits through the National Anthem (awesome reason to rally around someone lol). Although, looking at the people that are rallying around him here, it obviously gives you insight to who else would love this guy. He'd be riding a float during an Occupy Wall Street parade, so it doesn't even bother me that much, kinda deserves a laugh.
Yeah, you seem really unbothered.

Meh.  Democrats call people racist for simply not voting Democrat.  "Racist" has lost all it's meaning since it's basically used as often as a pronoun by progressives.
Stop. Stop. Stop. Please.

You keep saying that, but that is the worst Straw Man ever because no one has ever said that or anything even close to that.

Geez.

I'm gonna laugh after he gets cut and no one picks the moron up.  Will call that black oppression too

(picks mic back up)

Inner city slums didn't just show up 60 years ago.

(looks for someone to hand mic to)
(hands it to Max)

Right, they only came after years of Democratic Rule. After all, it takes time.

(slaps honkey kong on head with mic.  Mic and Honkey Kong drop to floor)

Is it only disrespectful to not stand for the anthem when you are in a public situation/place or is it just as disrespectful to not stand anytime the anthem is played?

Do you stand when you are home alone and the anthem is played?

I picture Fantasy Curse, Ditka Butkus and Max standing at attention and saluting the flag during every Sunday game shown on TV and the more power to them!

Probably been posted here somewhere but anyway, Kaepernick sits to say America isn't fair, Trump says America needs to be great again.  One is crushed for being unpatriotic one is running for president.  I have seen this posted all over FB today.   Meh, let's move on.

:lmao:

Yeah, um, the Democratic Party Platform of the 1870s sounds a lot like one of the parties today, but it isn't the Democratic Party. So I guess you're kinda right.
I almost forgot about the shtick progressives like to play: every time they do something terrible in history they say "we weren't democrats, we were republicans".

So now your policies come home to roost and suddenly you're republicans again.  Face it, it's Democrat policies that have caused the CURRENT turmoil over race, but even way back it was the same thing.

and who do you think has been running those inner cities for 60+ years?  Yeah, that's right.  Democrats. (drops mic)
I actually think there may be something to this Max, perhaps. At least, I'm willing to consider the argument, IF you have an argument to make. So far you haven't made one. My questions are:

1. What are the Democrats in charge of these cities doing wrong?

2. How would Republicans being in charge of these cities improve the situation?

And please don't give me Trump's "what the hell do you have to lose?" line, because that's not an argument either.

While people are making a bigger deal out of this than is warranted, I do think that Kaepernick's behavior during the playing of the National Anthem was selfish, disrespectful, and ultimately inappropriate.

If Kaepernick were serious about acting in an ethically responsible manner, he would have preceded his refusal to stand with a trigger warning. By failing to provide a trigger warning, Kaepernick risked offending, and did offend, countless people who are reliably offended by symbolic gestures made in support of ideas they deem offensive such as the perceived (imagined?) oppression of minorities.

Next time, Colin, please include a trigger warning. People have a right not to be offended!

I agree completely. If the game of football is no longer a safe space, then what have we really become?

Yeah, I guess you did forget because back in 1880 the Democrats weren't progressives, they were conservatives. You can get wrapped up in Ds and Rs but that's not what I'm talking about and presumably isn't what the others were talking about with their "schtick they like to play". I don't give a #### about party labels because the parties have always changed.

this was on rototurd.com  (Icing him for season)
In doing so, the 49ers would protect themselves from Kaepernick potentially injuring himself, which would then result in Kap unlocking more guaranteed money in his contract if he suffers a severe injury. It would also mean Kaepernick wouldn't dress on game days, which wouldn't allow him to visibly protest anymore National Anthems. The Niners can save $16.9 million against the cap next offseason by designating Kap as a post-June 1 cut. In the "icing" scenario, rookie Jeff Driskel would likely serve as Blaine Gabbert's backup to open the year.

Either you had a serious brain injury or every single History teacher you've ever had did nothing but pass out wordsearches.

University of Illinois Dean for incoming freshman classes:

Our commitment to academic freedom means that we do not support so-called ‘trigger warnings,’ we do not cancel invited speakers because their topics might prove controversial, and we do not condone the creation of intellectual ‘safe spaces’ where individuals can retreat from ideas and perspectives at odds with their own.

Good for them.
