QB Brock Purdy, SF (2 Viewers)

Brock Purdy's passer rating of 36.7 was the lowest in 34 career starts, including six games in the postseason.

Not having his 3 top WRs will do that to a QB.

That confirms what I saw on TV. That's the worst I've ever seen him look. So many missed receivers that were running wide open. I have to wonder if Purdy caught whatever Deebo had. Deebo looked like he was about to blow chunks when he was walking off the field.

I thought the MVP shouts were bordering on absurd last season and he really looks to be skyrocketing back to earth this season.

Still has more weapons and a much better defense than many QBs in this league... Should be doing better (in general, KC is just unreal)

Having to rely on your 3rd, 4th, and 5th WR and no CMC isn't exactly what I call "has more weapons".

He's been really good this year.

I agree, but a lot has changed with regards to his WR options. He needs Pearsall, Cowing, and others to step up. Not sure what Deebo's situation currently is.

To be fair though even with those wrs if he hits kittle or cowing in stride the 49ers win that game

Ya he's been decent to good. But nothing like last season.

I said it then... His weapons (namely CMC) made him look near superhuman

The table below compares Purdy’s career production with and without McCaffrey on the field, provided either Aiyuk or Samuel was on the field when McCaffrey was not. This seemed like a fair way to measure Purdy’s production without McCaffrey, who is an elite game-plan consideration, provided Purdy still had at least one of his starting receivers.

The numbers are barely distinguishable.

Same can be said of any qb

Mahomes:

Purdy:

Really good read here.

No, Brock Purdy doesn't need to be Suoerman - but the 49ers need him to be better

Purdy is never going to be a quarterback who puts the team on his back and carries it. He's not Rodgers, Mahones, etc. He's a middle-of-the-road quarterback who can do well when things are going well around him.

I would like to know more than just those stats. I say that because you can start to see it with the bottom 3 categories. The dump off to the RB isn't as effective like it is with McCaffrey (average air yds). I specifically remember a play last season against the Giants when it was 3rd and 13. Purdy throws a dump off to McCaffrey who proceeds to make the Giants miss like 4 tackles, gets 17 yards on a play that should have gotten 2 yards and the 49ers ended up scoring a TD on that drive that they should have kicked a FG. If he makes the same exact throw in the same exact situation with Mason, the play goes for 2 yards and it's 4th and 11 and they're trying a 46 yard FG. How many of those are the 49ers missing out on when CMC isn't in the game. How many drives that were 7s, are now 3s or punts. What is the average yards to go on 2nd down? On 3rd? That is what's missing.

I'm not a mega stat nerd (tho clearly acknowledge their usefulness)... For me it's just enough to WATCH and see they aren't the same without CMC. Exactly like you mentioned above...
I'm sorry, but how many receptions did CMC account for last season? How many for his replacement(s)?
They aren't lining up outside as WRs, they're his RBs... There is a dramatic change in everything they do without CMC (the real MVP, imo)

Well this is when you will be able to tell - he's going probably 3 weeks without Deebo, CMC, Aiyuk

If he continues to play like he did then the 49ers have something to think about.

QB Brock Purdy has 42 carries for 210 yards and 3 touchdowns rushing this season.

He ranks 8th, tied for 8th and tied for 5th in those categories among QBs.

In his first two seasons combined, Purdy had 61 carries for 157 yards and 3 TDs.

His rushing yards/game has jumped from 6.3 per game in 2022-23 to 26.3 oer gsme in 2024. Basically, he's added two extra first downs per game with his legs.

Faster 10 yd split at the combine than CMC and Deebo. And he's got the build to withstand a hit or two now and then, plus the smarts to try to avoid them.

Next Gen Stats
Brock Purdy held onto the ball for 8.62 seconds before finding George Kittle in the corner of the end zone for an 11-yard touchdown, the 3rd-longest time to throw on a TD.

Purdy is currently 7-of-10 for 88 yards and TD passing under pressure today (+17.7% CPOE).

Kicking myself for dropping him. I got little nervous when Aiyuk and Deebo got hurt. I’m still a fan and will root for him as long as it does not impact my fantasy team.

Brock Purdy became only the second quarterback since 1950 to have a passer rating of 100 or higher in 10 of his first 15 career road starts.

The other, Patrick Mahomes (11).

No throwing two days in a row.

That's kinda...not good...for the offense in general.
Might have to start Darnold over him in a league where I hold the last playoff slot but it’s waaaay to close to lose a game right now. :(

Purdy did do some light throwing during first part of practice open to media but that was it before he departed. He's scheduled for his usual Thursday media session in a while, which should offer more clarity on where things stand.

He didn’t speak to media. Shanny being evasive. Crap. I have one hour to decide leave in Juaun Jennings or sub in Cedric Tillman. Ugh. I have no confidence in any SF pass catcher if Brandon Allen is at Qb

I just picked up Tommy Cutlets with Rodgers on bye just in case.

Full quote from Shanahan on Purdy:

"He was still limited today. He didn’t do as much yesterday, did a little bit more today but by no means was he doing his normal workload. Went out there and did a little bit and went back in about halfway through and rested his arm up and just continued to get his rehab. Hopefully it will be feeling great on Sunday."

A guy picked up Dobbs. I was late to the party and only have Purdy this week. So I picked up Brandon Allen, who as far as I know is listed #2 on every depth chart that I know of. Does he know something I don’t?

Interesting. I just went and checked the depth chart a bit ago - same as you. Brandon Allen.

I will say though, Dobbs would be interesting in the Shanny offense.

Pretty sure this is a short term thing, if at all.

Purdy had MRI on shoulder this week

John Lynch says 49ers did MRI on Purdy "and feel good about where it is from that standpoint. ... Brock will show up here today, see where he goes from practice, go forth accordingly."

Ruled out w/shoulder injury

:wall:

3 of his last 5 starts he cleared 30+ in my leagues, other 2 weeks were right around 20 which isn't great but also not leaving you with a hole either
Been a perfect QB2 all season that had been covering me in a lot of leagues, this hurts
