If he comes out of this unscathed (which current reports state) then maybe he kind of is.I thought he was superman?
Panthers coach Ron Rivera was noncommittal Monday when addressing Cam Newton's (back) Week 16 availability.
Rivera gave away "nothing definitive," but did state Cam will start against the Browns "only if he’s certain Newton can protect himself." Added OC Mike Shula, "I know he’s feeling a lot better than he was Friday and Saturday," Shula said. "He’s moving around, just kind of walking around the building a lot better. So that’s good." It will be a good sign if Cam practices on Wednesday.
Cam Newton (back) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, and is "on target" to start Sunday's game against the Browns.
Barring a setback, coach Ron Rivera expects Newton to "probably" start over Derek Anderson. It's a huge boost for the Panthers as they try to stay alive in the NFC South. Newton had his best game of the season in Week 14 before his car accident, but will be a borderline QB1 if he suits up for the fantasy finals. His health is obviously a question mark, and the Browns sport a stouter defense than New Orleans.

Speaking after Thursday's practice, Cam Newton (back) declined to say if he expected to start Sunday's game against the Browns.
"I'm fine either way it goes," Newton said. "I don't want to be a distraction." Newton also added that he's felt "no pain" on the practice field, and has "no fear" of further injury. Barring a setback, he sounds like a quarterback who's going to take the football field on Sunday. Newton's status will be updated no later than Friday afternoon.

Seeing as my other option is Rivers, who has been terrible lately outside of 1 game, I probably will have to start him. Not sure I trust him, especially running the ball, although I wonder if running will actually be safer than staying in the pocket and taking a hit.If he does start do you trust him for your championship?
No. The title game is all about risk management. If he does start do you trust him for your championship?

Yeah he is going to need to be very sharp against Seattle. He is going to need a game like he had in New Orleans. And the defense will still need to be lights out for them to have a shot.Cam Newton must play better for Panthers to advance deeper:

True, the key is that they can do it. Really cam needs to just not make the dumb mistakes. Biggest fear is they get behind early and he pushes too hard to make big plays.Yeah he is going to need to be very sharp against Seattle. He is going to need a game like he had in New Orleans. Whoever wrote that tweet should have specified. Name the 6 most successful Heisman winners over the past 20 years. How many QBs would make the list? 2? Yet almost every non qb who won the award has some success.QB. That only leave Palmer, Bradford, Newton, Griffin, and Manziel.Mark Ingram? From Twitter

Both QBs stunk it up in that game...it was brutal. Fortunately for Cam, he now has a somewhat serviceable o-line that can manage to block on occasion. Granted, they still aren't better than Seattle on the line but it's improved. The Carolina defense looks completely different now than it did even 4 weeks ago. It's a tough task to go to Seattle and win, but I wouldn't use their last match up of this season as a barometer for how this one will go. Too many things have changed significantly to do that IMO. Hoping for a good game.I don't expect Newton to play well against the Seahawks. The only good game he had against a decent pass defense was at home against the Lions. He was completely destroyed the last time they played the Seahawks and that was in Carolina.
However, with the way Stewart is running the ball I think they can grind out a close win with some mistakes by the Seahawks.
Yeah neither of these teams is playing like they did in that matchup. Both are much better. Are the Panthers good enough? I guess we'll see. Both QBs stunk it up in that game...it was brutal. Vegas and the public doesn't seem to think so. 11 point dogs with money coming in on the Hawks.Yeah neither of these teams is playing like they did in that matchup. Both are much better. I would expect the Seahawks to be heavy favorites in their place and riding a 6 game winning streak. Vegas didn't think we'd be in the playoffs at one point. No they aren't and yet the 3 games we have played them have been decided by a total of 13 points. And they had their starting QB every time. We have also been very effective stopping Marshawn. They may well win but it won't be quite as easy as all that I don't think.Seahawks are not Arizona with a 3rd string QB.
Those games haven't been at The Clink though.NCCommish said:No they aren't and yet the 3 games we have played them have been decided by a total of 13 points. That might be a factor but the Panthers are built to stop the Seahawks. Wilson and lynch will have a hard time running against the front 7, the Seahawks front 7 is good but their DB advantage isn't as big against Carolina. Richardson and Kearse could have big games.Eta: well that (the db advantage) turned out to be a stupid comment.Alkahsu said:Those games haven't been at The Clink though.NCCommish said:No they aren't and yet the 3 games we have played them have been decided by a total of 13 points. Panthers GM Dave Gettleman reiterated that he sees Cam Newton as his franchise quarterback.
The Panthers will exercise their fifth-year option on Newton, which will pay him $14.667 million in 2015. After that, they have the franchise tag available. But ideally, Gettleman wants to lock up his quarterback with a long-term deal that will obviously eclipse draft-class mates Andy Dalton and Colin Kaepernick. "[Newton] is a franchise quarterback and the contract will get done when it gets done," Gettleman said.

Cam's English ain't so good.
How about his 7.1 AY/A - 14th since he entered the league.Career completion percentage, which is under 60%, not a very accurate way of grading a quarterback.
Love how they left out the part where he talked about learning to follow guys like Thomas Davis and using them as a template to grow into a team leader. Only put in the part bound to draw clicks and haters.Cam's English ain't so good. But he's right.
it is what it is@RavensInsider: Cam Newton five-year, $103.8 million deal, $60M gted, $67.6M payout in first three years biggest 3-year payout in NFL history, per source
keep us postedI have Cam in two dynasty leagues, and he has had very little trade value for the last year... he is behind Luck in one league and behind or committeed with Wilson in the other, so I am looking forward to his return to health rehabbing his value.
Yeah, yeah, yeah... I'm just commenting on his seemingly low trade value using two of my leagues as examples.keep us postedI have Cam in two dynasty leagues, and he has had very little trade value for the last year... he is behind Luck in one league and behind or committeed with Wilson in the other, so I am looking forward to his return to health rehabbing his value.
No, this was that option year since he was a 1st rounder. He was a FA after 2015. This is a 5 year extension, so it is from 2016 to 2020.Didn't they have him at 2 years and 24 million where he was?
Guess it depends on your league and what you mean by low, but I traded Stafford plus for him last year.Yeah, yeah, yeah... I mean I drafted Cam first round in a startup dynasty three years ago. Haven't regretted it. He has all the physical tools and has been pretty darn tough/durable his whole career. Minus last year where everything kinda just kept piling up. I think that will be an abberation. They got him some new young weapons and are building an O-line for him. Where he stands now with all that considered...I don't think there's any way I trade him for the foreseeable future.Guess it depends on your league and what you mean by low, but I traded Stafford plus for him last year.Yeah, yeah, yeah... I took him at 5.1 in a dyno startup that just drafted. I agree mostly, but I'd definitely move him for several players.ShamrockPride said:I mean I drafted Cam first round in a startup dynasty three years ago. Haven't regretted it.
