QB Jordan Love, GB (1 Viewer)

He can absolutely change his mind but he has said he is against playing with a brace. When a guy is that adamant I lean towards he's still got time to rehab/PT and just simply docs making him which....fits this scenario to a T.

I think maybe next week. Pretty questionable to risk him against the top D, one the backup QB knows especially well.
If Big Jeff or Sweat land on him, is his season over?

Despite what was projected to be a 3-to-4 week absence due to his knee injury, there is a chance that Packers QB Jordan Love can make it back in time to start Sunday at the Titans. “I wouldn’t be surprised if he plays this week,” said one source. “It’s definitely day-by-day like he said, and 50-50 at best right now.” But the larger point might be that, even if Love cannot make it back by Sunday, he’ll have a realistic chance to return next week at home vs. the Vikings, which would mark a two-game absence.

I would think they can't possibly start Willis against the Titans. I'm sure that would make for a great story but it would probably not work out well.

Traded for Love after he went down in Week 1 on a rebuilder team so he can take his sweet time returning as far as I'm concerned. I'd really rather him not risk re-injury.

The prudent move would be to sit this week. Be ready to host the Vikings. Don’t risk further injury when you have some key games coming up.

Seems like Willis would desperately need those first team QB reps if he were starting again in Week 3. ETA: We don't actually know who is getting the first team reps! Closed practices.

I didn't expect it early in the week but now I kinda feel like Love is back. If so, expect another run-heavy gameplan with some of the more exotic quick passing stuff Willis may not be able to handle. Can't have Love getting smushed by those DTs.

Imagine the team rallying cry if the management backs Willis and Willis beats the team that let go of him. That could be a catalyst for a massive run. I know it’s not data but imagine the emotion for the team.

Willis doesn’t seem like a bitter guy as he’s saying the right things but you bet the packers feel they can beat the titans with Willis and the surrounding cast. Plus Levis loves to self implode

I just said the exact same thing (well, close to it) in the C. Watson thread. Lots of quick hitters and runs if Love plays. Same with Willis, though. Either way, bad for Watson and Doubs, really. Good for Reed and (maybe, and I mean maybe) Wicks. But I'd expect to see lots of press from Tennessee and lots of eight-man boxes.

Maybe not so bad for Watson with jet sweeps and slants, but bad for he and Doubs's deeper, more needing-to-develop routes.

Ian has Jordan Love probably returning this week with his knee at less than 💯.

As I've said in the Willis thread- I would play Willis til he loses and let Love heal. The concept of needing Love to beat a Flores defense has to be countered with the thought of a less than 💯 knee possibly getting hurt worse by hits created by a Flores defense.

The Titans were the top D before last week and still top five. They don't have to play Love to win.

Agreed. They need to let love heal. We've seen what happens when you rush players back from injury. Never ends well.

GB never rushes anyone back. Just wait and see whether Love is able to get in full practices late in the week. We know he will be LP to begin the week.

I'd be more concerned with him simply being rusty when playing his first game in 23 days against a good defense, though at least it's a home game.

Would you start him over Dalton without knowing how healthy he really is?

If the Packers are playing him I think you know how healthy he is. They have a reputation of being very conservative in terms of injury. So yes
Is this reality or perception? What are we basing it on?
Decades of being a fan and following how they manage injuries.
Okay. Any data to support that?

Nope. But I can’t imagine any Packer fan chiming in differently. It’s been a pretty commonly known situation with the GB medical staff over recent years.

Tis’ true. It happened numerous times with Aaron Jones alone.

I believe you both, I'm just wondering if that is actually different than other teams. And if there is any data to back it up.

FTR I have no idea where that database would be or how it would be parsed. But what I am hearing from you doesn't feel like it's something to bank on.

I mean, did Love have a full practice this week?

Not data but opinions from many former Packers

This article is from 2017 but Dr. Mckenzie's reputation hasn't changed. Many Packer players have expressed their frustration with Dr. McKenzie holding them back an extra game

Great stuff, thank you.

So how should we interpret him not having a full practice this week?

Honestly, not sure. IMHO i don't think he'll be limited much by his injury. I can maybe see the game plan being a little more conservative with more of a short passing game. I'm more worried about his numbers being down because of the Vikings defense than I am by his injury. Depends on one's options at QB.

I still can’t start him. Geno and Fields are my other options. Part of it is the Vikings D, other is potential rust. Still - would love to see him go off

Who are you starting between Geno and Fields?
Really tough call. I’m leaning Geno because you can’t run on the Lions and he will throw 40 times. I’m also in a 6 point TD league. But Fields could go off
