QB Sam Darnold, SEA (1 Viewer)

So now that J.J. McCarthy is out for the year, what do we think? Darnold has never been good, but he's never been in a decent situation either. MIN has great receivers and solid coaching. I'm thinking strong QB2, but maybe late QB1. But I have no idea.

:sneaky:🎯
So far....
So far he's QB4 overall. I expect he'll regress a bit.
You may be right, but he’s playing great football in a QB-friendly system and about to get his WR2 and stud TE back. I’m not sure it makes sense to expect regression. Of course it’s possible, but it’s also possible he gets better or continues on this path.

You're preaching to the choir (see my earlier comments; I'm just running a victory lap), but he's flown about as high as a pocket QB can go.

They do have one of the best pass pro OL in the NFL.

I don’t see this as a fluke.

Not a fluke at all- the team is loaded on both sides of the football and the coaching is top tier. He will be an explosive big play machine all season long because the Vikings will rarely be down 14-0. The coach will not put Darnold in those positions. He will be a QB1 this year health permitted.

Darnold or Carr rest of season? Both have been a surprise to start the season.
Carr. I just can't see Darnold maintaining this for an entire season. This seems more of a fluke than anything. I don't think it'll last.
What about Caleb or Darnold ROS?
Ughh....do I have to? 😉

I think Caleb has the much higher upside but that might not manifest itself until later in the year. If you need something now I would say go with darnold but if you can wait then go with Caleb.

lol I have Anthony Richardson, so when I get the balls to stop starting him, I’m gonna need a real qb to start.

In ff, Darnold. Darnold has basically been playing ball control in the 2nd half of games because of 1st half leads. Conservative play calling in Chicago will be the rule with their OC and defense.

Is this cat now unbenchable?
Already kicking myself for not starting him over Kyler this week. Looking to deal for him in dynasty to start over Hurts.
With those weapons, with that o-line...price is skyrocketing. He's starting to look like a league winner.
It's insane. Even without Alexander for GB what he's doing is shocking. That TD to Jefferson was insane by bothe of them. Great throw, amazing catch.

My league mates are all from NY and very slow to shake off any Jet or Giant misery-based bias. I wouldn't be surprised if I get mocked or vetoed because they think he's still a bust and a bum.

I’m a Vikings fan and am in genuine disbelief. Been trying to temper my expectations but he seems like an even better version than Case Keenum the last time the Vikings looked great.
He signed a 1 year deal. Do the Vikings extend him like Seattle did with Geno Smith? If he keeps it up, a few teams could make an offer,
Genuinely don’t know. Obviously many more games left but if he keeps this up how do you not??

The fantasy manager in me says sell high to like a Panthers or Browns team but I know the nfl doesn’t work that way usually.

Is he going to pull a Dilfer? I said it as a joke a few times already but, and it's still very early of course, it looks like we at least need to consider the possibility.

More importantly, if he does do the Vikings pull a Grbac?

He had such a miserable experience in NY so there is zero chance he comes to the Giants. I have always liked his talent. He is more athletic than he gets credit for as well.

Forgive the question, but who's more likely to keep it going; him or Baker?
Objectively I would say Mayfield who has played well for more games than Darnold has in their careers so far.

Looking further out than this season Mayfield might lose Evans to father time at some point and I think it's fair to wonder how well he does without a star WR like him.

Darnold may be on any team with who knows what weapons though?

Turning into a pumpkin in London. Interesting to see how he, and the team responds in the 4th Quarter.

JJ apparently a little frustrated on the sidelines.

Anti-Samite. Played well against a real good defense.
Agreed.

Y'know he took a couple sacks but, for the most part he didn't make mistakes and he did just enough on two late game drives to put six points on the board and give the defense a chance to win it.

Looks horrible today. I thought he was having a Baker type of resurgence and he would get paid next year by a team looking for a QB. Have my doubts now. Just had his 4th pick negated by a penalty.

This is why folks took Chase ahead of JJ.

He has looked more like Sam Darnold for a number of weeks now. First truly gruesome game in the stat line. I think his 2025 starter status probably comes down to whether he can win a playoff game. If he can do that while staying healthy, I think some team will have a top spot for him. I think I have seen enough in the past few weeks to feel secure that he won't go on a deep playoff run to push McCarthy out of the way in Minnesota. I would love to be proven wrong, but I was skeptical even when it was going good.

Killed me in three leagues…best matchup of the week too. “Any given Sunday.”
I was going to start Tua over him and kept stupidly looking at all of the "expert" rankings for Darnold. Never again.
Same - but not due to expert rankings. I saw that Tyreek Hill may miss the game and then the Jag's D match-up seemed too delicious. Also had faith in KOC and JJ to shepherd Darnold. We'll see how he does going forward but it was a really off game.
