QB Will Levis, TEN (1 Viewer)

Yesterday was somewhat dominant by the offense. Today was weird where both the offense and defense were making big plays. The writeups offer a real great "I got you" oh yeah well "I got you" competitive day. Perfect timing too. The Titans haven't really had the firepower to have a back n forth so...it sounds like a fun fun day of practice.
Levis had an INT on a tipped ball and Big Jeff knocked one down.
He responded with big throws, notably a deep shot to Burks and a little high to Ridley in the end zone where he somehow came down with it and everyone celebrated.

I hadn't thought of this but this needs to happen to for his development. Now they gotta talk "calm down" "no keep them fired up" and whatever leadership aspect.

I'm a little whiney that the top CBs and Hopkins won't be back til next week when practices aren't open. That's my gripe. The Titans have phenomenal talent to have a great matchup in practice but one has always been out. Normally we'd talk like Levis shouldn't throw there or only trust Hopkins "that much" and I wanted to see videos and read of that all taking place for the young QB.

Anywho, a good day a fiery day

DHop + Ridley is about as good a WR duo as there is in the NFL

If Burks and Chig can contribute, it really sets up Levis for success.

I’m excited about him as my dynasty QB2 in the one SF league I roster him.

We'll have to see how Chig contributes.
Whyle has beaten him out.
Chig is in the F role. No one seems to be mentioning but a FB plays only maybe 12-25 percent of snaps. The F also plays in the slot but the Titans love Boyd and Jahquan there so how much?
I don't subscribe to the quality of targets theory but those that do, maybe Chig has high quality when he's in. I think it's definitely a lesser role.
Then it goes to no one said Chig won't play the Y role or "high school WR that switched in college and still sometimes looks very much like a WR" that Whyle won't play in the slot.

I've gone over this hypocrisy before but Callahan's Bengals would create some excitement of a TE and never really have much value in FF. OC Holz Jaguars had big value in FF. So which is it?

Very hard to predict but I'm not touching a TE share in FF and people will start to know who Whyle is.

Oh yeah - I actually knew that but brain fart. lol

As far as Levis, I get that.
There's really little logical reason he's falling so far in drafts and he should have higher value in dynasty.
There's always some guys that people say predraft won't be that good or somesuch and they rrrreally hang onto that as a narrative and that's all I see.
You can question the line. Question the errant throw and inexperience, sure.
I can like randomly pick any QB and they're boasting of their targets as rationale for their success and many aren't doing that for Levis. I'm not guaranteeing success or anything but I've seen him go 15-18th round, some guys second QB after most have a second QB and while I've been very impartial all summer- that's a heckuva 16th round pick. No one around him has his ceiling and unless you predict a 3-4 INT game (which he didn't really do last season) his floor is probably better than anyone near him too. We always used to those are the indicators to move a guy up in rankings but Levis just sorta tangles in the wind in the late rounds.
Not to forget we all lie to ourselves about how good our 15th round + guys are but we'd cut most of em for a hot WW pickup shortly after.

I'm just really not meshing with many in the FF community about Levis. Late ranking is fine but he's too far down

Will Levis – 159-of-245 overall (64.9%), with 8 interceptions (53-of-76 in 7-on-7, 106-of-169 in team periods)

Getting ahead of myself I know but would be ironic if it turned out was better than Bryce and AR, after the (obviously bs) rumor of him going one and being mocked to Indy at 5 in a lot of the pre-draft chatter.

I simply don't see a better value than him in round 15+
I'm getting flack for this elsewhere as it's homerism but I sincerely don't believe it is in round 15. I'm plenty guarded of that due to experience playing FF and round 15 is round 15.

Took him 16.9 in my FBG home league yesterday. QB23, before fields, nix, Bryce, and Watson. 2nd easiest pick of my draft (Henry 2.09 was virtually automatic).

Levis said "pressure is a privilege" and....I just really like that is all
As a UK fan I still have his decision making in my memory.
Yep and it'll probably be discussed until he has a few seasons. He didn't throw a million INTs in a half season last year and both staffs have been all over that so he's probably in a good place. He's just gotta do it.

I still think he's got a mulligan for half a season as I always discard a rookie season. I don't think the Titans think this way

For those that don't know that's a Billie Jean King quote, it's posted in the locker room at the tennis center in NY (technically Queens) where the US Open is being held.

I was fortunate enough to see her entire career and she was the best at one time. She was also a pioneer for gender equality and has long been a pioneer for equality and social justice. You have to not only respect that, but as a player she was the best.

For sure. You just hope he develops more at this level.
I gave your post a like, but as a Colts fan I hope he doesn't develop :)
The division could be crazy. T-law was supposed to be elite and honestly looks pretty good. AR15 and Mayo makes the south interesting if they succeed.

We need some good competitive games too though
Keep it at the local general store in Sevierville in a game of checkers :)

I watched all the UK games as my wife went to school there. Had a soft spot for him. Rooting for him.
As a UK fan I did a lot of flip flopping with him. One minute I was cheering him, and the next, you know where I'm going with this.

Oh I do. 3/4 of a good QB is between the ears.

I grew up in SE Ky, so I'm familar with Sevierville, TN. LOL. Had a lot of good times as a young teenager across the border ;) Especially further to the west in Jellico. You see, Ky was dry back then, except in Lexington and Louisville and we had to go to Jellico to buy beer, or buy from bootleggers just a few miles away, but more expensive. Which we did both. I only lived about 40 miles from Jellico. Those were the days!!! As a 65 year old it brings back fond memories.

I’m pretty confident Brian Callahan finds a way to get Will Levis around 28-30 passing attempts consistently this season.

However I think we can’t ignore how integral this run game has been this training camp. If establishing the run give Levis the confidence to then go sling it, it’s a win-win

ok Bri, tell me everything will be ok.
I definitely feel that ugh feeling you've got.

Ridley is clearly a second fiddle guy and he had better improve as he got paid like a 1 but his career has been where he's second.

Nuk was missed, no doubt.

I thought the line held up pretty well considering. Not great by any stretch but far better. He got smacked from behind as Latham let a defender past and he took a wide route to get to Levis so he didn't even see it coming. That INT was amateurish and I doubt happens again.

I didn't see (Bears or) Titans WRs open much at all. Kudos to defenses but also weak cuts and too much time asked for in a pass route. Callahan put Pollard out wide. He needed an alpha and then Spears too and...none of the WRs woke up. None of them were I got this. My ball. You can't cover me. Nothing. I'd have put Jahquan Jackson out there. Maybe throw my arms up in the air and put Chestnut at RB while Tyjae and Pollard are out wide.

About the Ridley Levis timing being off. Warner said they've gotta just have him throw to a spot and/or lob it up then. Stop expecting them to sync up and call the plays that do work then come back to it. I get that, sounds good

Callahan is sharp. I do have confidence he changes things. Very much so. This is a hugely different feeling than Downing or Kelly at OC.

Mulligan-ish would be nerves first Q and defense and Velus Jones giving great field position in spots but no shine to it. Only Pollard came to play and they're all a bunch of chumps til they prove they're not

I was impressed by Levis for 3 quarters. He gets in a lot of trouble when he tries to do too much. He got away with a flip pass earlier to avoid a sack, but that second time cost his team 7 points and the momentum of the game. He didn't look as good when the Titans had to play come from behind ball.

The announcers were right though, Levis can not keep taking hits like he did.

I'm really pulling for the guy, as he's my QB2 on a lot of squads this year. But that second flip pass is just not OK at any level of football. I think getting away with it in the first half let his mind go there again, which was a bad, bad idea.

"Don't know if you've made the progress or not until you play in a game. I was surprised by some things. Tough pill to swallow." (From PK)

Callahan on Levis

It sounds more motivational to me but also has to perk Rudolph's ears up

I'll watch the whole thing and comment after

Here the full bit

He says tough lesson to learn a few times.

He says how they've talked about it on the sideline. <---this is everything. It doesn't matter what sport. If coach tells ya to do something or be aware of something then you'd better be.

Also says how if Levis takes a sack probably they win the game.

My take is it's more like- I had patience and thought it was for the long haul but you ran through it pretty quick yesterday.

Wayyyy more confident vibe today from the coach.
He mentioned all QBs go thru that and he's seen Stafford, Manning, and Joe go through it and they're just learning from it with Will

Levis said he's not changing anything (like technique) he's just gotta be a better version of himself.
People are ripping on that but I understand. They practiced this and that all off-season and he doesn't need to change but execute as he should.

I missed something-
Coach said his footwork could be better in noonish interview.
Levis said his footwork is fine during post practice interview.

Ummm yes that's another red flag but it's little. He's been very humble and said all the right things and the context of the later interview is "tell me ya did this wrong on Sunday" and he was owning everything and just didn't give them the footwork one.

I understand the angle of "he's not listening to coach" but that's not how I see it. For all we know he didn't even hear the morning interview and coach mentioned fifty things and not footwork.

Rrrreally expect this to be overreacted to without context
