Statistically, TEN has been pretty tough on RBs. Technically they are middle of the pack but much of that had to do with an outlier day by Lamar Miller a short while back. - eta - Otoh they have played some pretty mediocre run games.

Ameer is on my bench until Decker comes back, at the very least. But he does get consistent volume both rushing and receiving, even if he hasn't done much with that volume. It's a plus matchup too.
Collins is clearly the real deal but last week was such a positive game script, and that must be considered when deciding whether to start him.
Besides my question was purely hypothetical as I cannot confirm if Collins is on my roster.

If Mallet starts the only way Baltimore wins is to feed Collins early and often. That's true even if Flacco starts.

Not exactly... there's more than a few instances of Collins busting off big gainers, then Flacco throws 3 times. At least with Mallet they know he ain't $h*t and will go run-heavy with the usual TE pass.

The Miami game doesn't prove anything. What matters is that Collins gets chances at TDs.

It proves he will get lots of touches going forward. Plus he got multiple touches in the red zone and was in on the goal line plays. The TDs are coming.

I think we're all with you on the fact that Harbaugh has had his head in his heinie this entire time (and I don't have oodles of confidence that Collins' usage won't change when Woodhead and West are back, so far up the rear is that head). But you either had the patience and space to keep Collins, or not.
I'm starting Collins this week, but more out of necessity with Howard on a bye. Starting him over Ty Montgomery, which isn't such a hard decision at this point in time.
Assuming Collins stays on the trajectory he has, he's my new #2 RB. Certainly an every week RB/WR flex player over the likes of Parker, Coleman, and potentially even Hogan.

Allen got RZ carries from the 20, 12, 5 and 1.

I do not, I just know he has had 21 RZ touches on the season. And his 1 TD rushing came from the 1 and his 1 TD receiving came from the 9.

My question was in the sarcastic sense. I've watched every Ravens RB snap this year. I know how terrible he is.

Sadly I lacked the roster space - held him for 4 weeks to mediocre results. Needed a lineup spot for a BYE week receiver and Collins was low man on the totem pole. After all, Allen had been getting GL carries & receptions, and Collins best game was 80 yards, no TDs, no receptions.

So yeah - I did the same thing. And naturally he blew up and my WW priority was low. In two separate leagues.
That said, part of my rationale was that Allen isn't going away, game-script seemed to favor a heavy workload (and not a lot of passing), and Danny Woodhead is going to come back and take a chunk of opportunities. Plus it was against a disinterested opponent across the pond where disinterested defenses go to die.
So....while I do kick myself for not being able to hold onto him (especially in hindsight where I now know M.Bryant wasn't worth hanging onto), I also question his value moving forward a bit in PPR leagues.
That game might well have been his high water mark. I wish I still had him to find out, as I could use a RB this week.
He got another carry from the 10, gained 6 yards, but a Miami penalty was accepted, then they gave Allen then carry from the 5. That was the series Allen fumbles on, although it looks like they credited the fumble to Mallett.

IIRC he didn’t have a target before the Miami game... then he was praised for it after.
For my decimated roster he’ll be run out there with Ingram and be matchup proof.

I don't think Harbaugh has talked about Collins this much, let alone with all of these compliments. They're usually just sprinkled in.

Harbaugh stayed pretty true to his comments about Collins in my opinion. He said Collins would get more opportunities after the CLE or Jax game, and it's obv not as much as we would have liked, but he has gotten more opportunity. He never said he was going to feature Collins, and he isn't now.
However, the two things naysayers were saying was never going to happen, happened last week. Targets / receptions and work near the endzone, on top of most touches and most yards. In to close out the game. Then, here comes this praise from Harbaugh.
I think we all agree he should have featured Collins from the start, but he was new to the team and had to earn the trust of the CS. I think that's fair enough.
I've kept Collins on my roster since the PITT game, following his situation closely, and I bet on Collins taking over at some point. Certainly not a sure thing yet, but things are looking good. I'm wrong all the time for various reasons, but rarely because I'm clueless.

Starting him over Ajayi as my RB3 in a dual flex league. The biggest thing I liked last week with Collins (besides how explosive he looked) was his usage in the passing game. If that remains in place this week he should be locked in as a Top 20 RB with Top 10-15 upside. I don't see the Titans playing with a huge lead so the Ravens should keep the running game on schedule. Given how good Collins looked against the 6th-best run defense last week I'm not worried about the matchup for him this week.

I’ll add that the 1st game Smallwood came back it looked like I was right. Then a week later Smallwood gets phased out and Collins blows up.

Seriously, I have to start Fournette this week, But I am still debating between Collins and Hyde in my #2 spot.
Cook is on IR, McKinnon is on bye...and I have Abdullah, Darkwa & Burkhead ranked lower.

I don't get it Hank. You've been doing this for a long time now, do you really think it is so simple as "Harbaugh has his head up Allen's ###?" That analysis doesn't fly. NFL coaches are exclusively about winning, nothing more. Willie Beamons are a rarity. They're Unicorns, and they are very often difficult to identify, Collins may not be one. Despite his recent success he still has a disgusting fumble to touch ratio.
Don't you recognize that Harbaugh, a guy who has been an incredibly solid coach for a long time, may possess a little more information than we do? I agree that he seems too conservative relative to what we see on Sunday but don't you, a guy who has been doing this for years, recognize that maybe something more has been happening that we don't see maybe during practice or stuff that we don't recognize when it happens on Sunday?
I mean how often does a mid-season street free agent just come in and get granted carte blanche? It takes time.
I am just saying that I did not expect you to be one of those "You're not using my guy therefore you suck!" people.
Harbaugh as an NFL coach, IMO, has earned the benefit of the doubt. Personally I am just happy that Collins has performed well enough on Sundays, and on the days we don't see, that Harbaugh seems willing to give him more opportunities to shine.

Obviously it's important to talk about what we see and what we think a team should be doing with particular players. In some cases, those things eventually happen and the preceding discussion is a valuable leading indicator for fantasy purposes. In some cases though it doesn't happen and it's just as important to be able to recognize that and let go.
I remember the David Wilson thread and a handful of people who were absolutely livid because Coughlin wasn't doing what he was supposed to do with his RBs. In a handful of situations the answer is, it is what it is and you just need to accept it. You can be right and still wrong.
Not trying to be Hank's parent rushing to his defense here, but Harbaugh has a losing record over the last 4.5 years since the SB. If I added it up correctly, the Ravens are 26-33 in that time against teams other than the Browns. They have had periods of time where they are running out one of the league's worst offenses, and he has removed multiple OCs over that time, including being 31st in yards this year. He has had some success, sure, but I think he has fairly earned some questioning too.Chaka said:

That's not it at all. But when someone asks you about Collins and you give him a quick attaboy and immediately move on to Allen it's clear he's got something going on. Just like Gase jettisoning Ajayi, just like Peyton's usage of Ingram, it's not always about the physical talent. Do you when he's talking about Perriman Harbaugh would launch into an analysis of Wallace's or Maclin's games? I just don't get why the guy wouldn't just toss Collins some praise and leave it at that.Chaka said:

If I owned Goff in my 2QB I wouldn't trade him for Collins straight up.
