RB Alex Collins, SEA (4 Viewers)

The volume was there and the match ups were very positive but he came up very small in both weeks of fantasy playoffs.

Since cementing his status as the lead back in Baltimore in week 11 Collins has averaged just under 3.8 yards per carry on 99 carries.

Pretty disappointing fantasy end to the season for Collins, who came up short for me in semis and this week. So much talent, but seems to really still have a problem securing the ball, and on a team whose style isn't going to maximize his touches.

Awful quiet but he put up another great run and he looks the part.  He was a solid RB2 for one of my championship dynasty teams and he's got the potential to be a an RB1 for quite a few years.

I like him and he had a fine game but it was another sub 4 ypc game.

Since his first 20 touch game in week 8 he is averaging exactly 4 ypc and since the week 10 bye he's at 3.8 ypc.

Since getting legit #1 RB volume he hasn't looked like the elite back we we're all so excited about.

But at least he hasn't been fumbling, so he's got that going for him which is nice.

Is he a hold or trade?

have a few teams sniffing around in a keeper league and I have Collins, Lewis, Henry, Ingram to sell off and keep one to pair with Gurley

I have him in the two leagues I won, both are very deep teams and I will be looking to package him in consolidation moves.  I have the 1.03 in one and 1.04 in the other so I might use him to get up to 1.01 but there are lots of ways for me to use him.

He is definitely an interesting player going into 2018.

he changed teams, gained confidence of his coaches in new team with fumbles and in passing game. Put up 8 usable weeks in 15 games with 2 great games and is quite young. Add to that how young he is with an expecto improve oline and D. Who knows what he is capable of

"Ravens coach John Harbaugh mentioned Dixon (knee), Alex Collins and Javorius Allen when discussing the team's backfield for 2018, Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun reports. "I think we have a whole good group of guys," Harbaugh said. "Obviously, we have a starter and Alex has proven that. He had a great year last year. He makes people miss. He breaks tackles, gets yards after contact. This is a player that makes stuff happen. He's exciting. I know our fans love him. And we're going to get Kenneth Dixon back. I think Buck Allen had his best year by far last year. He's kind of growing, coming into his own as a football player. Those are three really good backs.""

Hello

Did Harbaugh finally have the chance to look at the tape and realize that Collins should be the lead back instead of rotating constantly?

I want to believe. I’m just afraid this translates somehow to the Ravens drafting a RB in rd 1 or 2 and then giving 70% of the carries to Buck Allen.

You never know until you know, but to me this was promising. It sounds like the coaches have a hierarchy in mind and Collins is the starter, but they like all three guys, so there will be some form of RBBC.  The fact that they have a "starter" and "like all three" seems to suggest that targeting a RB in draft is not a priority.

In the 7 games after the bye Collins had 139 touches for just about 20 per game. That includes the Cleveland game where he missed a lot of the second half. As an owner I'd be extremely happy with 20 touches per game next year. Now get some OL help PLEASE.

Kiss of death

After 2 picks in round 1, I think the Collins arrow is pointing up. A TE that can block and a running QB that usually improves the run game + no RB taken with 2 offensive picks and a greater need to draft a WR coming up.

Agreed. They still need o-line help and some more LB help too. I think its very possible they don't draft a RB even in the late rounds, and just roll with Collins, Dixon, and Allen.

Love that Jackson move, best value in round 1 in my opinion.

They had a lot of injuries last year but were still 6th best in run blocking DVOA. Not bad.
No argument, but I think they over achieved. They take a pretty big hit losing Jensen. I am skeptical about Yanda durability. The dude hasn't played a full season since 2015. They also lost Howard. You might say who cares, but Pro Football Focus graded him out in the 77% percentile. I look at all this info and it leads me to believe they need online help.

I doubt lamar starts unless flacco is injured, or Baltimore is out of playoff contention.

Lots of rounds to go, but Collins might come out of the draft as the #1 in Baltimore.

Nice trends for Alex Collins last year in terms of usage and production.

Over the first three games

  •  25 carries = 8.33 carries per game
Next five games his carries increased

  • 68 carries =  13.6 carries per game
Over the final seven games his carries increased once again

  • 119 = 17 carries per game
Add, he wasn't involved in the receiving game at all over the first seven games

  • 0 receptions = 0 yards
He wasn't a major factor but did get some looks over the final nine games

  • 23 receptions for 187 yards
TD production over the first nine games

  • 0 TDs
TD production over the final 7 games

  • 6 TDs
Ozzie Newsome was making his last picks as a GM and he had 12 picks in a running back rich draft but he didn't take a single back.

I think the Ravens feel good about Collins and have big plans for him this year.

I missed the Collins hype thread and glad it’s still going. It’ll be interesting to see what his adp will be come draft time. Believe it or not, but not many are believers.

I love Alex Collins, but I think he is limited in PPR. He is an OK pass catcher and he says he is working on becoming a 'complete back', but don't forget about Kenneth Dixon. He was injured last year and is probably the 3rd down guy. However, Collins has a good chance to get a huge amount of TDs along with 1200+ rushing yards.

I also think the Ravens team as a whole will be better than last year, so game script and some balance on offense will help out Collins a lot. Their defense is legit and going to keep them in games.

Don't think Dixon can outplay Collins?

Man, I strongly disagree with both of you after watching Collins down the stretch last year. His feet never stopped moving, and his tempo was incredible. I think he's going to be heavily involved on 1st and 2nd downs.

Dixon is still a fine player but I think he will be a change of pace back and a nice 3rd down option.

Agree with you on his talents, I am still skeptical that he is going to get the full complement of carries and be in on situations to warrant him being used as an RB1, or even a dependable RB2. No knock on Collins, who I think is amazing, but more on the staff who never seemed to let him become more of a bell cow despite the signs he could do so. Whether it was too nervous about repeat fumbling, they see other backs as being better situationally, or whatever, it's hard for me right now to think his usage is going to be drastically different than last year.

I want to believe, but....

We'll see how things pan out through camp.

If they gave him the GL carries, which they should have, this guy would be discussed as a higher end RB going forward.

Solid buy low candidate

I am in STC's camp, I want to believe, but I am skeptical. There is a legitimate argument to made for Dixon as the top dog. Part of me also wonders if Harbaugh and Mornhinweg are channeling their inner Billichik. They seemed have have embraced the RRBC approach. Forsett is the only RB to have more then 215 in the past 5 years. I also suspect that Buck Allen will have some role in this backfield. Too much uncertainty for me to be certain about anyone.

This. It made me sick to watch them keep using an extremely ineffective Allen at the goal line after Collins already proved himself as the season wore on.

Plus, Collins isn't coming off a torn meniscus.

Collins was rated the 6th RB on DYAR & 3rd on DVOA by Football Outsider and the 4th HB by ProFootballFocus.

Talent seems legit to me.

collins will bench dixon's sorry ###, in no time.

he was probably the grinder of the year last season, imo. kid fought for every yard.
