RB Audric Estime, DEN (2 Viewers)

Luv Estime. Hate (not teally, but sports-wise) the Bronkies.

Unfair our beloved coach AP has to play chess against Andy Reid, Sean Payton and Jim Harbaugh. Not convinced he didn't match them this weekend, but we'll see. All four teams collected several very good players. Now who will motivate and elevate?

I don’t give any ****s about this dude's 40 time. He has tremendous first-step burst for his size. Lateral moves are mostly meh, but if he can even remotely read (run) and make (pass) blocks, he will be a problem in the NFL if he lands on a team that uses him proper.
Payton SHOULD be able to use him properLY.
Bronco running backs have been allergic to the end zone. Hopefully this helps.

I like the landing spot for Estime. Javonte underperformed and is not under contract beyond this year. There is opportunity for Estime if he performs or Javonte doesn't. I was shocked at Estime's slow 40, because he looks fast and explosive when I watch him. I own him in a devy league and will be drafting him.

I am reminded of Payton finding guys like Chris Ivory and Khiry Robinson as UDFAs and giving them pretty healthy 1st and 2nd down roles. Estime is probably a better version of those guys as a prospect. It will be interesting to see how he gets used.

Payton speaks to his potential usage at 16:20 of the attached clip with "1st and 2nd down" usage at the top of the list. Then go from there

I drafted him in a couple of leagues where I have Williams, because I do think he's the RB to own from the rest of them. If Williams doesn't produce this year, being removed from the ACL and other ligament concerns, he may not be for long with the Broncos and Estime is a good to have IMO.

“Audric Estime certainly looks the part. Even without pads, he ran with aggression during Saturday’s practice. (Estime) said developing an aggressive mentality even during non-contact portions has been part of his process. ‘I’m not trying to hurt my teammates, because it’s practice, but you’ve got to finish runs, got to run with the right pad level,’ he said. ‘You run to the last guy and a safety will come up, and I’ll say, ‘Nah, you’re not tackling me on that play.’”

“Williams, though, will have to earn the starting job in camp. He’ll be pushed by Estimé, the team’s fifth-round pick out of Notre Dame. Estimé missed most of the offseason program after undergoing a minor scope of his knee, but he’s expected to be “full go,” Payton said, at the start of training camp. In limited action in front of the media, Estimé, at 5-foot-11 and 227 pounds, looked the part of a running back who can bring more short-yardage toughness.”

I watched a ton of Estime as an ND fan and I really want to like his pro potential, but I don't think its there long term. His path to touches looks great right now, so he might be a good short term option.

My takeaway from watching him was that he does have good vision and knows how to set up his blocks. He has good feet to set up his cuts, but he isn't quick or sudden. He's not great in the passing game but he is solid in almost all aspects as a running back. He doesn't have an elite trait that separates him at the next level. My biggest complaint is that he was never the guy to take the team to the next level. In the games ND struggled, he typically struggled as well. His stats look good because ND was the hands down better team on the field for 75% of their games.

Loved watching him run in college. Glad he’s getting a shot. Reminds me of Bettis (who wasn’t quick or sudden) but it’s an unfair comparison because Bettis had special feet and was even bigger. Nonetheless I think Estime can be good.

First there was crazy talk about Javonte Williams being on the bubble, now he’s back to RB1 talk after shedding weight and coach praise. Don’t put too much stock into what these beat writers say.

Legwold is better than most beat writers

also, HC said this is one of his favorite draft classes ever. He really likes them even after Troy Franklin pissing everyone off

I think it's pretty clear Williams is the RB1 on that team right now. That could change, but this is where we stand today IMO.

yes, I'm just saying to not sleep on Estime, at least for dynasty.

i feel like this will be an annoying RBBC, at least for this year.

Yes, I agree, Estime should be rostered, especially for Williams owners and in dynasty. I have a few shares, a couple being where I have Williams.

"Javonte Williams, who shed 10 pounds this offseason, looks quicker and is another year removed from his ACL surgery. And fifth-round pick Audric Estime has been one of the stars of camp thus far."

Great rb falls to the 4th round, who is worried about his 40 time? Im trying to make sense of it. Its mentioned in this thread how he reached 21 mph one game. Thats pretty fast for a 4.71 runner. Build up speed must be, looking at his 1.58 10-yard split.

His reactions are uncanny tho. Theres no combine contest for those.

This backfield could be a mess tho. In one way, for a 4th round pick its a good spot to get an opportunity. Yet it could be a mess.

Kyren Williams I think ran a 4.7 also. Those ND RBs run slow 40's, but seem to know what to do on Sunday.

Estime did shave it down to a speedy 4.61 at pro day.

Looking fwd to the day when we hear how fast they actually run from 0-10 MPH in pads during the 4th qtr. Estime's 40 time is quickly tossed when I watch his film. Dude has plenty of burst. Wiggle may be a different story, but the burst is undeniable, underwears running be damned.

You can say he doesnt have much wiggle, I wont argue about it. But he still makes defenders miss somehow without the Lesean McCoy quick-twitch. And it doesnt look impressive either. I think its a matter of timing and angles and such. When theres a free defender in the back field how does he manage to move past him almost all the time? I said in my post before I think its his reaction time.

I forget which one, but I seen him jump over defenders 3 different times in the same game too. Here again, perfectly timed hurtles. Not even really theatrical. But it worked and he kept on running.

I do agree, he seems to have a good burst for his size. I am intrigued although think it will be a muddy room this year.

I watched him vs Ohio St. He had some good runs but not a lot of suddenness, totally agree. But I also agree that in other games, watching some of his highlights, he didn't look like a 4.7sec guy. I don't know about an elite trait, but at the collegiate level, excellent contact balance.
