Good news but participation level still unclear. Multiple reports he’s not working with the other RB’s, off to the side doing individual work and speculation he’ll be doing rehab work today and not practice.

McCaffrey was seen wearing pads during warmups, which briefly gave us hope that he would return to full participation today. He was limited in Thursday’s session and we expect him to receive the same designation today. His Week 1 status is entirely up in the air. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan is set to address the media at 1:45 pm on the West Coast.

I’m expecting full transparency from Kyle today. He’ll bring out Al Davis’ old overhead projector to show us MRI slides of CMC’s calf, and will provide intimate detail on his status & anticipated usage for this week’s game.








Just kidding you won’t learn a single thing from his presser today. He may set a record for use of the term “and stuff”. So that’s something, I guess.

When I pulled 7th in our home league KDS I selected 10 in part because of the 3RR (11 & 12 already gone) but also in part because I did not want to have to make this decision.

If he does miss the game, I’m less optimistic that he’s on the Achane timeline and more concerned that his career is over. And I’m not being hyperbolic in the slightest. Achane had a strained calf. CMC had bilateral Achilles tendonitis presenting as a calf issue. These are worlds apart in terms of player outlook. As a 49er fan I’m extremely hopeful that @menobrown nailed it with this, but I’m significantly more pessimistic.

We’ll see what happens Sunday I guess.
