RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt, WAS (2 Viewers)

And the deal is done!
Nice! I just proposed the same trade. 🤞
Risk/reward on both sides. Depending on roster construction, it makes good sense for each party.
I’ll never use JCM except for maybe one bye week because of my RB depth. I need a WR1 later in the season. His RB are horrible. Makes sense for both teams. We’ll see!
I don't think that is a fair statement.....if he started performing consistently like a top 5-10 RB you have to find a way to get him in your lineup...

Sold early. Should trust myself over the naysayers in the future. Best of luck to those who held or drafted at a point people called "too early."

The analogy wasn't him to other seventh rounders. It was him to other seventh rounders that the team had traded people away to make room for.

eta* I'm actually not so sure about this. I think the guy I got is better. I just should have tried to get the other guy with someone else and built up my RB room.

The fun part of JCM being drafted "too high" is if he hits, it wasn't high enough, lol.

I'm very bullish on Bill in rookie drafts and startups, but some caution might be advisable in redrafts, although, refer back to my first sentence, haha. The good news is he's one of those guys that might win a redraft for you, but probly won't lose it.
Hey, I hear you. Bucky Irving darn near carried me to the IBL individual title last season. But he was my 15th-round pick - not a guy I gave up draft capital to move into another draft so I could take in the 8th instead of Jennings, Njoku, or Kyler Murray.

Everyone's risk tolerance is different, but he's caught enough helium that it's reasonable to question whether the juice is worth the squeeze.

Hey, it's me. Remember? The guy from page 4 who (before the B-Rob trade was official) was out here attempting to throw cold water on the whole "Bill as lead RB" concept last week?

So ... yeah. That guy just got back from his neighborhood league snake draft, where he took JCM at RB27. Because, welp, I drew the 9-slot in a 10-team league and, hey, what if he doesn't make it back to me seventeen picks from now? HASHTAG FOMO OMG

All aboard the Bill train, I guess! 😂

I don't know who Cecil Lamney's source is but I am pretty sure I heard him on a podcast this morning say that someone from inside the Washington organization told him they view JCM as the 2nd best player on the whole team.
Excuse me but I can't stand up right now. I've got a big Nick Chubb if you know what i mean....
@Ilov80s heard right. Kinda one of those WTF moments. Lammey didn't reveal his source, but Washington implying Daniels is the only player better than JCM is quite the statement.

They've got to be seeing some strong nuances to his game if that's the case. I looked at Bill a little closer just for fun and he does seem to have outstanding vision and running instincts. We could be seeing someone really special emerge...or not, lol.

Fun ride, though.
Sounds fake, fading JCM.

In all seriousness though I think he looked good in the preseason. Looks like he can make people miss and runs hard through arm tackles. I noticed he can catch too and they made an effort to throw to him. He did however have several plays where he didn’t gain anything or got tackled behind the line.

People may think Rodriguez is just a jag but he finds the hole and bulls through contact. He rarely loses yards and can dominate if given the chance. He had 2 games from the past two years where he came in and took over.

You know who else had a lot of negative plays? Barry Sanders. Boom!

there's isn't a laugh emoji big enough to cover Sanders being mentioned in a JCM thread. No matter how facetious. I keep looking for JCM's college stats showing him rushing for 2600 yards and 37 TDs in one college season. Maybe I'm bad at searching the internet becasue I can't find them
He would have easily hit 3,000 yards and 40 TDs if the NCAA hadn’t ruled him ineligible.

Im starting him week 1 in a dynasty league as my RB2. I don’t fully trust Johnson to have a big workload & RS is also TBD. Charbs going against SF too. Allen in a TBD timeshare as well. Creates enough uncertainty that JCM is my RB2 behind Gibbs until I see something to make a change. Stacked at WR, so easy to start 5 WR in that league, too.

Whatever I get from JCM will be a blessing.

Doing a SF/TEP startup, traded my future 2nd & the 12.02 pick for the 9.05 to take JCM. Was surprised no one else had taken him yet. He's my RB3 for the moment behind Gibbs & Achane - Giddyup!

If you believe in Bill and like free money, he's +225 to rush for 50 yards or more against the Giants on FanDuel. I used a $100 deposit free bet to parlay that with 4+ receptions for Egbuka, 4+ for Coker, and 3+ for Golden, for +1036 odds.

Honestly, that feels like stealing IMO, all 4 very likely to happen IMO.

Oof.
They voided the Coker leg thankfully. Dropped the odds away down though, it's like +462 now, which is less exciting, but better than an auto loss.

he said words I can’t post on a public forum after I snaked him.
That makes any pick a great pick. Doesn't even matter who it is that you took.
Agreed totally. It was so satisfying. We have fans of a bunch of teams in my league, and some won’t draft players from their teams (they don’t like to be mad at their RL team’s guys over FF) and some target their team’s guys in FF.

Knowing which is which can give you a real edge in FF drafts if you’re picking next to them.

This is half the fun of my home league. We have 2 guys who are huge Niners fans. One of them drafted 7 Niners last year. When they won, he did great. But it did not end well.

This year I was drafting 2 spots behind him. He had already drafted CMac and Kittle by the 5th round, so as we came back in the 6th I took Pearsall. I know, way early, but I knew it would bug the heck out of him.

More than I knew. Two picks after me he drafted Jauan Jennings. In the 6th! Totally messed him up I think. He did bounce back nicely later on though.

In 12 team redraft, non-ppr, I took him pick 1 of the 10th round last night. I don't expect much but at that price, why not take a chance on a "starting" RB.

This place is gonna explode if he gets 8 carries week 1. Ha ha
My prediction:

Commanders will lead from early on. Bill will get 15 carries. He'll be somewhere around 4 ypc, but he'll break a medium long one for a TD. He'll add 2 receptions, 1 which goes nowhere, and 1 that goes for a first down. Final line: 15 carries for 80 yards, 2 catches for 11 yards, 1 rushing TD.

My prediction, Ekeler starts the game and comes out in the red zone. Rodriguez comes in and vultures the first td.

Both can be true.

I do agree that Ekeler is the first RB on the field on the first drive.

He is so worth the risk it isn't even funny. The guy COULD be the main carrier on a very good team.
That is what this hobby is all about. Almost every year a player comes out of nowhere to do great things. Why not him?

Could he be a bust? Absolutely. However, I don't play this game to finish 4th. I play it to win.

If you ain't first, you're last! :drive:

This place will go ape **** if that happens.

I took the bait. I drafted CMJ in the 7th round of a Gorilla draft. Hells Bells.
I took him 8.01 as my RB3 in a Big Gorilla draft last night
What the hell is a gorilla draft?

I love this place sometimes. 2 unrelated posts.

I saw that too and let out a little chuckle. I thought the posts were related at 1st. Like that’s what people do in a gorilla draft, obviously.

They usually only activated three RBs each week last year. McNichols plays ST so he’s going to be active (and maybe that’s why he’s listed 2nd). We will see if they decide to dress four or if they make either Bill or CRod inactive.

Thanks GB.

I shared your post with a friend who's sharp.

He said,

Joe the ST angle is a good callout that gets overlooked.

Often the “3rd” RB active is a core STer. The team may have to go to them to get them out of a game, but with a week to game-plan they’ll get jumped.

Washington seems pretty clear from all the indications around the team.

They have a early / short yardage role and a passing back role.

Rodriguez then Crosskey-Merritt are in line for the early role

Ekeler then McNichols for the passing role.

Kingsbury has had these roles going back to when James Conner and Chase Edmonds held them in Arizona.

McNichols? What the heck? Okay, the Commanders know for sure. This has got to be trolling. I know they said Rodriguez was getting the early work, but McNichols? In what world?

Shanahanigans.
Look, Ekeler and McNichols have the same role. Crod and Bill have the same role.

Or they just completely changed the offense they ran for the entire preseason on a whim.

Lol, cross posted with you. That's correct.

First drive they make just go Ekeler as deference to the vet.

Crod will get a series before Bill I guess.

Bill is getting carries by the 3rd series at the absolute latest. Possibly earlier if there is a long drive.

Bill gives the team a dimension Crod doesn't. He's going to be in the mix for sure and have a stranglehold on this within a couple weeks, barring injury.

Didn’t Bill run back a kick or punt for a TD in the preseason? Why can’t he be up and active and partake in ST? McNichols should be the odd man out.
