RB Jordan Mason, MIN (3 Viewers)

I'll probably be starting either Bigsby or Tracy Jr. over him this weekend. Horrendous matchup and one good blow to his shoulder could set him back. Bad vibes. Hopefully it doesn't backfire on me.
That’s my concerns - tough matchup where he could easily schemed out if they go pass heavy. And yeah, one big pop to the shoulder and he could be done.

as a Mason and Deebo owner and startesr in redraft...the last two weeks have been brutal....Deebo sick without any warning and then the TD tonight getting called back is a straight kick to the groin...

Kyle Shanahan indicated that Mason could have come back into the game, if needed.

That's the same excuse he gave last week after Mason exited. This is literally a carbon-copy of what happened last week too. Why even start the guy? Why not deactivate him and start Gurrendo?

I cannot believe he went thru an entire week of practice and noticed nothing was wrong. Either Mason is lying, Shanahan or the team is lying or both to play fast and loose with the injury report.

Kinda relieved this ride is probably about to come to an end. He was found money at the beginning of the season and won a couple weeks for us, but the last few have been frustrating. Three amazing weeks out of the first four but pretty disappointing since Week 5 honestly. I’ll try and keep stashed, but probably safe to drop if you need the spot. Geurendo looked quite good last night.

You're spot on here.

Thought I struck gold when I drafted him but it's been mostly disappointing. These last two weeks, though, have been the worst. I'll probably loose again this week with his poor performance, but I guess those are the FF breaks.

To quote Tony Romo: Ding Ding Ding

Is he droppable now with the bye and possible CMC coming back Isaac healthy and looked great? Mason last 4 games in a 1 PPR league hasn't cracked 10 points. In the few leagues I have Mason I am okay at the RB spot I may at least try and trade him in hopes someone thinks this is buying low opportunity.

The only way he's coming back to fantasy relevance is if we all drop him.

No, we don't know when CMC is coming back and he is still the starter over Isaac assuming he can get healthy enough to play again.

Rarely am I good at selling high, but feel like I did in dynasty. I still think there is a possibility that he holds value down the stretch. There are no guarantees CMAC holds up and Guerendo is still a bit raw to be overly concerned with imo.

No, we don't know when if CMC is coming back and he is still the starter over Isaac assuming he can get healthy enough to play again.

Q: How can you tell when a Shanahan is lying about a running back situation?
A: When his lips are moving

As a CMC dynasty owner, I am trying to add Mason for cheap now... offering 2 3rd round rookie picks in 2025
smart move. I still think he will be their guy next year…Cmac is in the twilight of his career
Really? CMC Twilight? He's 28 and if healthy enough he will be their RB next year. Not sure why you would say he wouldn't be. Sure, you can play the injury card, but we all know that if he's on the field he is their starting RB and would be a fantasy force. Disclaimer, I don't have CMC on any of my teams and have Mason on two.

How quickly we forget that before the CMC trade, owning this backfield was a nightmare as a manager.
I never forgot. with Shanahan, RB's are disposable. he believes (correctly) that his system relies on blocking and getting a good push from the line. in that game against dallas, by the time we got to the 2nd half, the line was pushing the dallas linemen back 3 yards even before the RB hit the hole. not hard to get a good run when that happens. hit the hole and if the hole closes you fall forward and get 4.

but in Shannys system the RB is disposable. never forget that.

I completely agree with this if his name isn't Christian McCaffrey.

How quickly you forget that his backfields are easy to decipher and that injuries are the only thing that derail his intentions. Shanny always has a bellcow back that he runs into the ground and only switches off him due to injury. Secondarily his system leads to RB injuries so that will always be a risk for in game injuries.

Don't you think it was possible that Mason went through an entire week of practice and was in good enough shape to be ready to go and then in game re-injured his shoulder? This type of injury is a big risk of re-injury in game. It's not a big surprise it happened and has nothing to do with shanahanigans or Mason lying.

fully agree CMC is a special case because he does more for this team than run, but in his absence the RB could be anyone on any given day. Thats my point.

RBs get popped hard all the time - just got hit in his ailing part. Stinks from a fantasy standpoint, but that's the position.

For the Mason owners what do you plan to do? I have Mason in one league along with CMC and Mason alone in another. Originally I was going to drop him in both because how can I trust it won't happen again if he even gets meaningful playing time post bye week. Also, have to wonder how much Guerendo will start to factor into things if CMC does not make it back or goes down again. I think for now I am going to hold him in both just because of the upside potential but I don't feel good about it. Hoping the week off helps. May even target Guerendo in the league I also have CMC if I can find someone to drop.

I think we agree but the word "nightmare" is meant to encompass the number of roster spots needed and the odds of getting 4 points from an injured starter. In dynasty, you're supposed to have rostered all 4? That's high maintenance. I traded Elijah Mitchell on April 17th to the CMC manager, not realizing that I was fleecing the guy. I got back Hunter Henry and moved back 5 picks in the 2nd round. Jordan Mason to Isaac Gurrendo. Clearly, Patrick Taylor is the guy to own...

He'll be an RFA after this season:

In 2022, Jordan Mason signed a 3 year, $2,570,000 contract with the San Francisco 49ers, including $10,000 signing bonus, $40,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $856,667. In 2024, Mason will earn a base salary of $985,000, while carrying a cap hit of $988,334 and a dead cap value of $3,334.

I could pay the cap hit of 3k
