Another bittersweet moment for the fandom though (at least for me). He never lived up to the draft capital or what we hoped, but I think he has been a great ambassador to the city and really embraced his time. One of those I really hate to see go from a person perspective but, yes, the football player time has come.

First glimpse of MarShawn Lloyd at Packers camp. Llyod has a tremendous opportunity with Aaron Jones off to Minnesota and Josh Jacobs just looking off last year, to gain touches early. AJ Dillon will still be in the mix but man was he underwhelming last year average a career low 3.4 YPC. To note, Jacobs only averaged 3.5 last year.
Accord to Jeremy Fowler the Packers “see shades of Aaron Jones” in MarShawn Lloyd. He explains that it’s due to his rushing and pass catching ability. He goes on to say the plan is to “get him acclimated pretty early, try to use him a lot.”
OC Adam Stenavich wants to get MarShawn Lloyd on the field “as much as possible. He’s got a skill set that’s a little bit different than AJ’s, as far as his speed… It’ll be nice to get him the ball in space and just see what he can do, ‘cause I think he’s gonna add a good explosive element (v) to the offense, for sure.”
Andy Herman notes that Dimitri Stanley put together a really good rookie camp as a try out. He played well while in the slot and made a really nice one handed catch.

It is an issue he needs to fix. Hopefully he can. Nothing gets you benched quicker than continued fumbles.

I know nothing, but I feel like fumbles is a somewhat random thing. And where there is a reason, seems like it should be fixable. But I don't know. I guess in some sense, every bit of ability you devote to not-fumbling is a bit of ability not devoted to the actual speed/agility part, and it may be hard mentally in the milliseconds of decision-making during a play to not get greedy for yards and sloppy with handling.

Another is that the Packers view Jacobs as the long-term answer at RB and are giving him one year to prove it. If Jacobs returns to his 2022 NFL rushing leader form, Marshawn Llyod will have to be content as a backup through the foreseeable future.

Our league is crazy about RB's but even over here that would be a very bold statement. Especially since that pretty much means he's probably in your top 7 (given the chance of a few outlier picks before 1.10).

That GB offense looks like is could be super powered. I know Jacobs is the big signing but I think the numbers show he just wasn't the same player last year and his efficiency fell off. If an explosive rookie gets into a highly featured role in the GB offense, it could be 15-18 PPR PPG for basically free (in terms of draft cost). IMO he is a great example of a big hit small miss player.

I look at in terms of roles. Everyone assumed in March "OK Jacobs is the new Aaron Jones."
At least I did. Then after Day 2 of the draft I realized, no, he's the new AJ Dillon.
Marshawn Lloyd is the new Aaron Jones.
"But they didn't give him 4-years $48M to split time."
The only GTD he received was the $12.5M signing bonus, which they're spreading over 5 years (void year.)
$0 GTD salary.

I'm sorry, but IMHO this is not a Kyren/Corum situation, at all.
I expect Lloyd to play a supporting role, at most in 2024 in GB...and I like Lloyd just fine.
We are about to see a rebirth of Jacobs, in a much more optimal environment for him to thrive, IMHO.

This is how I see it as well.
I just want to point out they did not use void years but that also does not matter to me as that's a cap tool.
I personally view his contract as 2/23 with essentiallly 14.8 guaranteed with fairly expensive team options for the next two years.. They can get out after a year but easy to look at the contract and see while they preserved that option if things go wrong it's not what they want to do.
ETA-for reasons trying to use his contract to predict a role I can't say looking at it as 4/48, 2/23 or 1/14.8 means anything to me. What does mean something is that Aaron Jones also had signed a 4/48 deal and his usage was what I'd classify as head of a RBBC.

I’m not sure I understand the logic behind saying Jacobs is the new Dillon while the old Dillon is still present and accounted for.
Are you suggesting Dillon has been so good LaFleur wants two of him?
Or that the old Dillon is going to be benched in favor of the new Dillon, who, by using inherent logic, would be no different than the old Dillon?
Seems to me, it’s more likely the old Dillon remains the current Dillon, while Jacobs is the new lead RB for the Packers, hand-picked by LaFleur based on his particular skill set, which isn’t currently possessed by anyone else on the team.
