This was just on the news wire....
Browns RB Quinshon Judkins waived his right to a speedy trial, which could push the case into 2026.
Browns owner Jimmy Haslam said he was “cautiously optimistic” that Judkins would play in 2025, but that outcome now appears less likely. The second-round rookie remains unsigned as he awaits trial for his domestic battery arrest.
This would literally be the first time an NFL rookie missed an entire season due to a domestic violence situation. Out of hundreds of similar situations.
I find it pretty improbable that he doesn't play this season
How many of those players did not have signed NFL contracts when the charges came out? Before he can play, he has to sign and what that looks like at this point is uncharted territory.
I'm sure some got in trouble between the draft and camp.
I'm pretty sure he filed that to get his case pushed out past this season. He's going to sign his deal next, most likely without the guarantee that other 2nd round picks got, or maybe with an out for the Browns if he's convicted of a felony. And then he's going to play this season. He might start slow as he's missed a third of camp, but that's it for impact this year. Next year, depending on the outcome of his case, he'll get between 0 and 6 games suspended. The league will not put him on the commissioners exempt list for an entire season for a misdemeanor with zero evidence outside of the victim's testimony.
If anything else happens here I'll be shocked. The league protects it's image but it's been protecting it's players longer.
