RB Quinshon Judkins, CLE (3 Viewers)

this whole thing has been bizarre, but it sounds to me right now like Judkins is good to go whenever the Browns decide he’s ready.
It really isn't bizarre at all. Rog knows where this is going to land, but he has an opportunity to stick it to Jimmy. The Browns are able to now bring him in via these terms because they finally agreed to keep him off the exempt list (allegedly). All while Rog hides under the cloak of investigation (they aren't even interviewing him until this week
 ) until the 11th hour then rules how he was always going to. By taking this path Rog impacts Judkins ability to participate with the team and creates an unnecessary distraction for the Browns to deal with. Mission accomplished.
Holy conspiracy
It makes infinitely more sense than the Browns suddenly turning into tight wads with their wallet for this specific case.

Of course I dropped him in redraft yesterday right before this news came out in favor of Ollie Gordon. Should I try to get Judkins back and drop Gordon? I guess my main question is what percentage chance is there that Judkins becomes an RB that you feel good about starting? Does it require an injury in their backfield, or can he become the primary back without that?

Comparing both situations, it will take an injury for Gordon to become a league winner.
Judkins' pedigree, draft capital, fully guaranteed contract + the competition in front of him gives a clearer path to workhorse status.

Did the same (but for a receiver after Worthy went down). Between McCaffrey and Worthy I am off to a great start in that league. Tough decision on your part, all depends on Achane’s health imo.

I dropped him a ten man. Can only drop Dobbins for him. That worth it?

I say no. Hold dobbins. Better offense and I expect he’s going to be pretty valuable in the first quarter/half of the season, if not longer (depends how they ramp up Harvey’s role).

If there’s no one else you can drop maybe you can at least trade Dobbins and a WR for Judkins and a better WR to whoever picks him up. Just a thought.

Just trying to gauge the temperature of the fantasy community here. He was dropped in my ppr superflex league that has deep starting lineup requirements 2rbs, 2 flex spots+a super flex. The news today will certainly make it so that several owners will put waivers claims on him. I don’t know what to think. I (unlike others here)—think that Ford is a competent RB that will maintain some sort of role in this back field. I also know that a lot of people are high on Sampson. The question I pose is this— if he was available in your leagues—what percentage of your FAAB is he worth rolling the dice on?
I don't love the ceiling for 2025 redraft, but I'm not ruling anything out because I do respect the talent. I view him more as a guy that could be a half-decent rb2 in 25 re-draft.

In a normal semi-deep league where some teams are struggling to fill out their starting rbs during byes or with injury, I don't think 70%+ is crazy. He should have already been scooped or held unless benches are abnormally tiny.
Appreciate your thoughts on this. I was surprised that he was dropped even though I still think the Cleveland rb situation is murky. Part of fantasy football in my opinion is about playing “defense” in a sense. I personally don’t know if I’d be willing to spend 70% of my faab to roster him, but I also don’t want to allow a competing owner to be able to get a valuable piece for a cheap price. I was thinking about putting a bid of 25-30% of my FAAB towards him. From the excitement of the people in this thread—it seems unlikely that I get him for that amount—but it also seems like I should protect against any other owner for getting hm for cheaper than that.

Murky enough even if he was immediately available and off scott-free. Don't view it as fertile fields even if he does take over as a workhorse. I'd probably be price enforcing at 45-50% even if I loved my rb room, but so much of that really comes down to years of insight into your specific league and how your leaguemates use faab. I don't think you're missing out on a fantasy rb1 if you go conservative, but I'd love for him to prove me wrong.

I’m only posting this in case anybody might find it helpful or useful. My 12 team superflex ppr redraft league had waivers run today after the news came out. I put in a bid of approximately 28% of my faab to kinda price enforce him (as I wasn’t sure if I really wanted him)—and I somehow ended up winning the bid. I do think that it will take more than that to get him now—as my league had waivers that run only a couple/few hours after the news of his signing coming out.

I'm surprised by this thread. I had a draft wend night and I chose him before a few highly thought of backups.

Basically he will use September and October as training camp. Then when the games matter I've got a starting rb. Just in time for one to get hurt more than likely.

Browns rookie RB Quinshon Judkins is scheduled to meet with the NFL this week about its investigation, but there is a real possibility, and even likelihood according to one source, that he will make his NFL debut next Sunday at Baltimore.

Ts & Ps to the poor souls who decided Dowdle and Gainwell were better use of roster spots than the best RB in the draft.

Yes, I said best.

Interesting here because Schefter doesn’t bother with updates unless hype leads to his alignment of fantasy football outcomes. His twitter quote below. Half a million views. God knows how many retweets. Basically means he’s active next week.

I read this as the Browns can’t wait to unleash him.

We will never get an answer to that.
The Schefter tweet makes you skip through these types of questions as it relates to “is he ready?” He’s going to be active.

I think this game Ford + Sampson are playing for the change of pace role. Both look terrible as far as rushes go. Raheim Sanders got their rushing TD for crying out loud.

Sampson looks like a decent pass catcher.

Probably knows it fairly well. He was in for the pre-camp stuff. Of course he's never run any of them in a real practice so there are bound to be mistakes. At first I doubt he is on the field for passing downs

Does he even know the playbook?

From what I understand he received Playbook and Package installs during voluntary rookie OTAs earlier this year.

He likely knows the system.

Running backs are generally the quickest to be able to get up to speed. Lots of freshly traded guys get meaningful snaps less than a week after joining their new teams. Granted this is a rookie…

The question is what kind of shape he is in and how much time he spent studying that playbook.

IMO Judkins will be the primary/lead back within 3 games. My take.

As long as this saga has gone on I guess an extra day or two does not matter but what was the NFL doing Tuesday? Or Monday? Everyone knows the first day of practice for the upcoming Sunday games is on Wednesday. If I did not know better I'd think there is some purposeful feet dragging going on here.

I think this kid is going to be really good.

Now if hes sharing the field w/ Sampson-- its going to be hard to be a really good FF player. Kind of a weird offense in cleveland with no alphas but a bunch of solid players and a QB willing to spread it all over

Neither Ford or Sampson were effective on the ground week one, so there is potentially an opportunity of good usage. They want to be a power running team, Judkins fits that a bit better in then the rest.
