My wife and I recently rented and watched the following:
1. Short Term 12 - fantastic movie. Melancholic, but really well done and very interesting if you've had any experience dealing with troubled teens.
2. Her - Really enjoyed it. Probably been discussed her before.
3. Perks of Being a Wallflower - Similar to Short Term and the Way Way Back. Good stuff.

The Way Way Back - Carrell is doing his level best to get away from his comedy typecast and I think he is, for the most part, successful but Rockwell (who is always good) and Allison Janney ("Yes, I'm off the wagon. Accept it and move on." 
) steal the show. The lead kid really isn't that interesting and some of the circumstances that the writers tried to make seem plausible really felt contrived (stuck in the tube, dancing, passing in the tube).
It got a ton of love in here and while I was watching it I wasn't sure why but the more I think about it the more I think that at its core it is a good story that has real charm.

I just remember it's length (and girth) and coming out annoyed. One of those "oh look at us- ENGLISH ACCENTS- aren't we fabulous"

If we went to Europa and found that it would definitely be worth the cost. Think about what that would mean if it happened.
Verification that we are not alone in the universe? Which just by the sheer number of stars and planets in the universe is a virtual certainty. So we find a bacteria and a killer octopus on Europa, who cares? Maybe, possibly we find the cure for cancer in those organisms, but we're just as likely to find the next virulent plague that wipes out massive portions of humanity. The only truly important thing about Europa is harvesting the water, #### the killer octopi. They wasted trillions of dollars and sacrificed six lives for questionable potential benefits.

Although to be fair the sheer amount of work and research put into that program almost certainly led to many beneficial advances in technology.
The last part (advanced in technology) is very important.
In addition to that, knowledge is worth it. It's just money. From a "what can it do for me" perspective I'm sure no one really cared when we found out the Earth wasn't flat either, but that ended up mattering a lot. Additionally, would you rather live in a world where we thought the Earth was flat, the sun revolved around it, and that light in the sky was angels shining flashlights on us if it meant we could have a few trillion extra dollars?

Finding advanced life on another planet, no matter what form it took, would be the biggest discovery in our short history. And octopi are very intelligent they certainly qualify as advanced life

Had a tough time with this one. I could feel the passion in the project of the people involved wanted to get this story on screen. At the same time, I couldn't shake the feeling that it felt like a very bloody Lifetime movie. Great story, Ok movie. 5/10

White House Down might have been one of the worst movies I've tried to endure for a long time. Had to pull the plug on it. 3/10

In A World...
Quirky movie about a female trying to make in the male-dominated voiceover business. Lake Bell stars, writes, directs. Funny, serious, sweet, and just well done. There are feminist themes, but they're not overwhelming; rather, they're subtly done, and they show how both men and women devalue women and value men based on voice. It's not a clobber you over-the-head type of thing until Geena Davis comes in and gives us a healthy dose of both reality and cynicism about modern feminism. It's worth the watch. Ken Marino, Rob Coddry, Eva Longoria, Geena Davis, and others all show up in this movie.
Also, according to Roger Ebert, they got the guy who was the voice of the NFL Today (and the guy from A Serious Man) to be the father of the two main character daughters in the movie.

I saw this on a recent plane ride. It passed the time on the flight but yeah, it wasn't anything really special.
I would have still ziptied their hands to slow them down heading back to the camp.

I enjoyed Jack Reacher also. Not sure why, don't like Tom Cruise and fairly bland in the action aspect, but I liked itSaw Jack Reacher. So I guess it's not a sci-fi movie like I was expecting. Pretty stupid overall in spite of the cliched story arc of - wait, who REALLY did this. Love the murderous cabal of evil entrepreneurs. Basically terrible... but somehow, I still kinda sorta enjoyed it.
Also saw Trance? Think it was Danny Boyle? A hot mess. Except there's some famous US actress going full monty, so I guess that was good.

If you like Brake be sure to check out "Buried". Brake was the red-headed pseudo sequel to the much better Buried.
The ending of Brake is a little fuzzy to me, but...
I thought it took it one twist too far. What was the master plan all along? Hope that they would coincidentally be driving right past the location at the same time his wife was asking him about it so he might glance at it and give it away?

Like I said, wanted more of the payoff so time to check the DVD extras.
Yeah Hockney and the other dude really didn't give up the props.
Perhaps involving more of Jenison's family would have worked. Would imagine it was an emotional reveal to them when they saw what their dad/husband painted. Especially if they were kept from looking in on his progress.

Sad to see Stoic bite it, but the final battle scene was well worth it.
I saw it in 2D, I could see where a couple of parts could be good in 3D, but I didn't miss anything.
And my daughter and I loved it when Toothless went all Godzilla trapped in the ice

Very entertaining. The movie is structured much like a video game wherein if you fail, you have to keep replaying the level over and over again. The effects are wonderful in this movie, but the star could be the editing. Every time Cruise's character reboots, the movie is edited such that it never feels repetitive.
Recommended for sci-fi / action fans.

Awful. Couldn't even finish this movie. While the story is ok, and I generally like Bradley Cooper, this movie is a failure because I don't believe for a second that Cooper's character was mentally ill.

Maybe it's Tom Cruise fatigue with Oblivion and Jack Reacher streaming in a lot of places. Oblivion was decent and Reacher was terrible IMO. Nobody turned out for this one. As the commentary has said you have an action flick that is not a super hero movie nor a sequel yet can't find an audience. Disappointing. Edge of Tomorrow is very satisfying.
Edge of Tomorrow a generic title. Should have went with Live. Die. Repeat.

The Rover C- Too much "Meh", not enough Robert Pattinson. Never thought I would ever say that.
And that soundtrack was annoying as ****. I swear they grabbed all the vuvuzelas left over from the 2010 World Cup and put them in this soundtrack
Him singing "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful" was hilarious.
And then when his brother shoots him, damn, it got dusty in the theater.
But all that death and destruction over a dog? A dead dog? Guy Pearce could have asked the guys when they stopped and talked. "Hey, you can have the car, can I have my dead dog in the trunk"?
