some goofy "horror": Tremors, Arachnophobia, Critters
I like 2/3 of those
I like all of those. My description wasn't meant to be a shot, more that I think 10 year olds would probably think they are fun like I did. It's also a way to dip your toes into the genre without being too much horror.

Critters
Tremors

Arachnophobia

The sequels to critters and tremors get progressively worse though…iirc critters 3 is Leo’s film debut and critters 4 features Angela Bassett in Space

Not sure I made it past Tremors 2 though

I see, I misunderstod. Of those 3 I think Arachnophobia is the best. It depends on the kid of course but I think a 10 year old might still get scared.

Recent TV and film watches:

The Bird With the Crystal Plumage
Classic giallo from Dario Argento. Good stuff.

Sinbad of the Seven Seas
Lou Ferrigno stars as the titular character. Terrible, but fun.

The Sixth Commandement, Ludwig
Good little murder shows on Britbox. Definitely worth seeing.

Welcome To Wrexham
I'm going to be pimping this series on my death bed, because no one watches this awesome show. Whenever I recommend it, I always say that while I don't give a **** about soccer, the show is must-watch even if you hate soccer.

The Agency
Very good, although Fassbender was also in Black Bag - which is one of the best thrillers I've seen in years.

The Punisher
I remember liking this series. Bernthal is great, of course. But this is more superficial and cheesy than I remembered. Punisher: War Zone remains the best Punisher thing ever.

Don't sell yourself so short parasitic arachnid, I think movie review sites are a pretty decent guide and I find that my tastes normally follow consensus but they aren't the bible and people are wrong all the time.

Never heard or seen One Cut of the Dead but I'll check it out.

It is a Japanese movie from 2017. It blends a lot of stuff I love in the horror genre: laughs, found footage, one-takes, and movies about making a movie. This was one that got a really strong reaction as I was combing through lists. I've only seen it a few times, but I can see it growing into an Oct. staple for me and it's one at the top of my list of movies to buy. IMO it belongs in a tier of movies like Tucker and Dale, Cabin in the Woods, and Shaun of the Dead. I could see it not clicking with people though. I like some odd horror movies like Deathgasm as well.

I will say this for anybody who might try it: please stick it out past 30mins. Yes, the movie is low budget and looks like crap and yes there is a good reason for it.

We gave The Alto Knights a watch last night.
I like a slow burn from time to time, but this was a Turtle in molasse's during winter in Wisconsin slow.
Glad I didn't fall for advertising and go to the theater and watch it.

$5.99 on dish demand was even pushing it.
I was really looking forward to it.:kicksrock:

Correct, stick with it.

The Prime Minister - Fascinating political documentary of New Zealand Prime Minister who basically followed Obama's political philosophy of hope and unity and eventually succumbed to Kiwi Trumper-inspired anti-vaxers. REally cool narrative that has a depressing third act.

Life of Chuck - the most artistic and thoughtful, but least horrific of Stephen King's film adaptations. I liked it, but not being a dancer, it never quite hit on all cylinders for me.

Mickey 17 was funny in the beginning but the Ruffalo character who was clearly playing a version of our current president was not something I wanted. Didn’t care for the second act as much.

I really disliked Mickey. Left in the first 45 min
I can see that. The tone is weird, not very good. Bong Joon Ho is a director that I run real hot and cold with. I don't care for his sci-fi movies. But his more grounded crime movies like Parasite, Mother and Memories of Murder are bangers.

I watched Fido last night , not what was i was expecting for a zombie show

Juan of the Dead , where can I watch that ? I have roku and couldnt find it on there

Watched the Accountant 2 last night. Awesome movie. Kind of like Rain Man on steroids with guns. I haven’t seen the first one yet. Ben Afleck was superb. The guy playing his brother (Shane from walking dead) is just OK. Never been a fan of his, but probably liked him in this more than other stuff he’s done.

Looks like it's not available streaming, even paid. I watched it on streaming without paying (either sub or something like Tubi) probably a year ago, so maybe it will pop up somewhere again.

Just saw September 5. Hadn't seen it before. Thought it was very good. I remember the event but I was just a kid and not that engaged with what was going on at the time.

Thanks. Now we have something to look forward to since we haven't seen the first one. I read somewhere people liked the 2nd one better.

I've seen both.

I think the first tried to do too much world-building - almost like they were trying to set up an immediate franchise. It's fine.

But I liked the second better because it knew what it was doing all of the way through.

Not surprising that many like the 2nd better. I was just more impressed with the acting in the 1st.
In the farm scene where Ben is about to shoot the melons. You can clearly see the faces on the melons showing anxiety. You never see that kind of range with melons.

Not sure why i have never gotten to The Nice Guys, but that is what I watched last night for the start of my week of Gosling. I really dug it, but could have done without the daughter running around with them.

Cleaner with the star wars girl was a decent action flick
Almost tee'd that up last night but watching the trailer it just looked like the DEI version of Die Hard, am I wrong?
What does this even mean?
Watch the trailer, seems pretty self evident
Sooo... an action movie with a female lead = DEI movie? It looks like a typical crappy action movie from the trailer.
